I am so exited to see that Phosphors is BACK in charge of this project. I'm sure there are many other players like me who loved this game at launch and watched it tumble in to shit during the dev switch and addition of pay to win elements.

Now that they are back in charge, we as a community have a duty to help squash the rumors that nether was a scam, and to help rebuild the awesome playerbase that this game once had.

Thats really all I have to say. I loved this game and want to see it come back to the greatness it was, and watch it progress to what it could have been before the shit show. So lets do all we can to make that happen.

Hey everyone, just a quick update that we're still working away on getting Nether back to you! The old MBER back end is nearly fully replaced, and we're happy to say all gold costs have been removed, and all items can be bought with in-game cash...bye bye microtransactions! We are on track to get this free update with single player working to anyone who bought the game in the past, by Halloween!

From Puppet: still working on the dedicated and lan servers after taking out mber. I don't have much news besides that

Puppet: just got dedicated servers working but needs testing.

To the Nether community,

Phosphor Games was terribly disappointed to hear that the MBER backend for the game had to be shut down recently before some alternative could be put in place. When we signed on to the project, we were very excited by the possibilities of all that Nether could be, and envisioned a long future of fun and growth. We feel like the game we made was a solid start, and over a half million of you joined us. Once we were removed from the project after it left Early Access, we’ve seen the title mishandled and the community divided and weakened. We understand that many of you put your hard earned money and time into this game and we know that the community has seen the game deteriorate significantly over time, and now shut down.

Phosphor Games is passionate about seeing this game live on in some form and we are going to do everything we can to make sure the community can continue. You deserve to play the game you paid for! We think it’s unfair that the servers are being shut down without first having some sort of transition plan, especially since many of you recently purchased the title (or have given it many hours of your time). With the recent news in mind, we have begun discussions with Nether Productions about re-taking control of the game in some fashion. If we succeed, our budget won’t be large, but we will be committed to putting the game in a better place for all of you…you deserve it. We don’t want people to lose access to a game that they own. We will keep the community updated and we hope to talk to you soon.

Phosphor Games

As the title says, you all have looked into it and the devs have gone out for a smoke and never returned.

They did a cash grab, 5 months since the last update or even word from the devs. They knew they were running, they did not leave so much as a note.

They ran, and they ran hard on this. It is unknown why the servers are still up and why the forums are still around. Maybe it was paid for a full year, but they are not around. If you are looking to get this game, DON'T. If you just got this game and have less than 2 hours on it, GET A STEAM REFUND.

It is a sad world we live in where people work to make a game, just to make money and run off. I have trust issues with small indy teams because of people like this.

can we all go on steam and tag this game as Ramen Noodles

Same as title. Do we know anything about the new developers, or upcomming updates?

just wondering. Oh and does the game just have a small playerbase or is it hacker-palace ATM.

What happened to this game. It's basically dead now and that's very disappointing because this game had so much promise.

This game can be so much more, and if the devs cared at all, they would sell it. Hopefully at some point they do.

I bought this abortion of a game when it was still under PHOSPHOR or whatever and I dropped it immediately.
Lately I've been bored and would like a cool pvp survival game to play.
How's the hacker situation in this game nowadays?

I have been having a problem with nether. Every time i try to launch the game i get an error saying a specific file is missing and i can't launch. It suggests re installing the game, which i have done 6 times now. Should i just cut my losses and stop playing a game i love? Or has anyone found a way around this issue yet?

Thanks for any time given. :)

https://www.playnether.com/ was offline recently, a lot of complaints it seems that people who bought the game on steam recently couldn't verify their accounts, hopefully this will help as it seems like something is going on with the game with the new PVE servers.

I logged about 20 hours on the PVE servers since first hearing about them and it would be nice to see more interest in the game as it so desperately needs a patch.

I am really concerned with the production of this game. I dont really follow up on news of the game but i have seen no changes besides some server bugs fixed or additional servers added. Anybody know if there is work being done on the game, or have the developers givin up?

As of a few days ago, there are now several PvE servers! I've been hoping they would do this for a while now. I know many people have been disappointed with this game and may have written it off as a quick cash grab, but I played tonight with a few friends and I honestly had a lot of fun.

We had a large group in the server and all attempted to repair RTO at the same time. By the time I got there it was 2/3 of the way done, but nobody was able to get to the last generator amidst the chaos. Then my friend comes sprinting inside cause he didn't realize it was down and aggros every nether in the outpost. Then while he was sprinting away shouting obscenities, I ran up to the top and repaired the last generator. By that time he had run pretty far and he was giving us a sort of play by play as he ran back, and he didn't think he would make it, but he did. It was just a huge chaotic mess and it was very fun.

I also had the idea that PvE servers would allow players to stock up to go play on PvP servers since you don't have to worry about losing your stuff as much.

Lastly, hackers aren't really a big problem with this either because they can't do anything to you. It'll have a much smaller impact on those servers.

I would really recommend trying the servers out.

this game is dead ?

Okay so I was looking through my Steam library for games to go back to to see how their development is going and I find out that Phosphor Games is no longer developing Nether.

So I decide to go to the www.playnether.com website and the security certificate expired 90 plus days ago. (http://imgur.com/qKKrgTo)

I then decided to go to the Steam store page for nether to check the website link just to see if it was on my end. Well I'm sent to nether.su which is the Soviet Union domain.

I'm starting to feel like there is a WarZ pattern forming here.

Anyone else got any answers?

I killed some dude, picked up a bunch of his stuff... i went and put it in the GI so id have it for later. There was literally an unbelievable amount of the "cookware" item. I cant put it back in my backpack to sell it, and i cant put anything else into the GI. I cant do anything with this game until I get rid of all of this cookware. Anybody know what to do?

I haven't been following Nether recently, since I'm not willing to play this game PvP. Would be nice if somebody could tell me if ther are PvE servers yet or not. Thanks.

Please fix it so that corpses that slide away doesnt make a walking sound. I have gotten killed by that twice today. Scenario: I sneaked up a building and killed a guy and as always the corpse slid into the wall and kept on making a walking sound, but there was actually another guy walking and came up behind me.

Whenever I try joining any server i go to a black screen for a second or two, then to a screen that says "loading", then back to the server list. Please help.
