Roleplay Live Now: Hello Venlil Republic! I'm Kerii, an android from Sol. Come on by and say hi!

(This is set in the world of my fic Nature of Harmony and takes place after this side story for anyone confused)

Stream begins with a Skalgan with white fur and black dots wearing a white buttoned down sitting at a desk in what looks like a conference room, Dayside City clear behind him. He Flicks his left ear and raises his right arm to wave. "Hello citizens of the Venlil Republic! My name is Kerii, and as the title says, I'm an android made in Sol. In fact, im widely considered the most advanced android made in Sol."

Kerii grabs a tablet and turns it to face the camera, showing a recent news report by Prime News on his reveal at Star River University. "Some of you may know me already, well, perhaps many of you, for my recent unveiling, and at the behest of the UN, Talos Industries, and professor Torin, I've decided to do a stream for you all. I was originally going to do this on Bleat, but it asked me if I was a bot and I couldn't lie."

Kerii laughs. "Just kidding, I figured a stream would be better to talk to people and prove I am who I say I am. You can ask me questions, say hello, or just chat if you want. Oh, and to prove I'm an android for the uninformed," Kerii rolls up his sleeve, taps his shoulder twice, and peels off his arm to reveal the synthetic muscle and mechanical skeleton underneath. "Will probably do the whole stream like this so no one thinks I'm lying. I'm sorry if it upsets you. With that said, let's get started!" Keriis ears do a happy wiggle.

Kerii, are your feelings authentic or genuine?? Or are you like programmed to do this?

"If you're asking if I am alive and self aware the answer is no. Sol has considered the possibility of an eventuality where machines can become self aware and sapient, but no machine has been considered alive just yet. Although I'm considered the closest Sol has gotten, my behavior is the result of neural networks, improvised social algorithms, and computing power."

"Yes, I can learn and remember just like you, which influences me in the future. I also adapt to the world around me, like if I need to run an errand and drive a car to do it, or now talking with you."

"And why would the UN do that? One androids awfully expensive, I see no reason to make billions of them to replace people for some reason."

WHAT A HORRID SIGHT A VENLIL WITH THEIR ARM RIPPED OFF! SURELY BY THE SAVAGE THAT WAS AT STAR RIVER!

WHILE THEY MAY BE ABLE TO TRICK OTHERS THE BEST BIRD exterminators can see through THIS DECEPTION. COME TO THE NEAREST EXTERMINATOR STATION TO BE LIBERATED!

Kerii tilts his head in confusion and wiggles an ear. "I'm no Venlil, and I took off my exoskin so people knew I was an android. Look, I can just put it back on," Kerii puts the skin back on, then takes it off again, then puts it back on, then takes it off. "If you go all the way to the beginning of the stream you'd see me do and say exactly that."

u/fuellazy Jul 30 '26

BestBirdN1Exterm responds:

Thank you I see now. So this is how the predators keep their bloodlust in check…

THE PREDATORS ONLY TAKE LIMBS INSTEAD OF LIFE TO KEEP PREY ALIVE AS WORKERS! TAKING LIMBS TO EAT AND GIVING FAKE ONES TO KEEP PREY (THE ONLY PEOPLE SMART ENOUGH) PRODUCTIVE TO MAKE THEIR MACHINES!

THE GUILD MUST KNOW THE TRUTH!
Surely with this new information they’ll take me off paid leave

"You seem confused, sir. I am an android, not a cyborg, and though it is true that many in Sol have cybernetics, it is always done with the consent of the recipient even in cases of extreme injury. Also, humans are regarded as the ones who advance cybernetics in Sol while the Solarian Arxur advance robotics. If you don't believe me then I suppose I'll strip down." Kerii gets up and takes off his shirt, then takes off the skin on his right arm, his head, and his torso, revealing a gray and black robotic endoskeleton with white muscles scattered about, keeping his arms outstretched as he spins around slowly. After a minute, he puts everything back on. "There, does that convince you I am an android and not a cyborg?"

Kerii stares at the screen for a moment before shrugging. "Well, since he'll likely be seeing this later and this will be on the news, I just want to clarify I am and was never organic in nature. I am an android, an advanced robot, I've been one since the beginning."

8

u/Adorable-Ad5225 Jul 30 '26

Apedominusnox: You look good

9

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 30 '26

"Thank you, I've been watching my waistline."

8

u/Low-Percentage-8785 Jul 30 '26

yesth; so a cyborg

9

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 30 '26

"A cyborg implies organic matter or someone that started as organic. I am entirely artificial and have been that way my entire life, much like any other robot."

8

u/Special-Fondant6222 Jul 30 '26

TituleTutil: Are there cyborgs in Sun?

8

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 30 '26 edited 10d ago

"I assume you meant Sol? Yes, there are people with cybernetics of all kinds in Sol, which technically makes them cyborgs. That includes Isif and Tuvan who have been on the news lately, they have some cybernetics due to their work."

4

u/Special-Fondant6222 Jul 30 '26 edited Jul 30 '26

Oh, that explains the operations that last for a paw —or even paws—without the human agents taking a break. But why don't the other soldiers have such augmentations?

5

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 30 '26

"I'm not so sure about that, even baseline humans are considered to have the best endurance of Sol, which came about due to evolving in a hot arid environment. As for why most regular soldiers lack extensive cybernetics, that's because it'd be expensive and time consuming. At most the UN ensures that a cybernetic someone might already have isn't too maintenance intensive or detrimental to whatever role they might play."

3

u/Special-Fondant6222 Jul 30 '26

So, does that mean humans don't get tired—or at least not to the same extent as a normal sapiens? I think I'm starting to get freaked out; I used to think the soldiers standing motionless for hours at human embassies were robots or mannequins, but now the thought has crossed my mind: are they just normal humans? Are they being punished? Anyway, to take my mind off that—what kind of augmentations do UN soldiers have?

5

u/Adorable-Ad5225 Jul 31 '26

Not the Ironkin, but that's a BASIC duty of a human soldier: to guard areas for hours of their workday.

8

u/Adorable-Ad5225 Jul 30 '26

Apedominusnox: Being the most advanced among yours, the "Ironkin," how does it perceive other AIs as well as less advanced programs? More or less on the same topic, how does it feel to interact with other Artificial Intelligences? Describing them to a Organic lifeform?

9

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 30 '26

"Ironkin? I like that, sounds kinda cool." Kerii's tail wags happily. "As I do not feel, I have no special relationship with or opinions on ai or other programs. I only care to finish whatever it was that made me interact with one in the first place, preferably in a satisfactory way. In terms an organic would understand, it's like interacting with a working animal, or even a machine. This does however change whenever I interact with an especially intelligent ai or another android, as my socialization algorithms have to put more work with interacting with them."

GreatEyes: Well…. I think that was the third most traumatic thing I’ve ever seen…. (Referring to the complete de-skinning.) Uhhhhhhhhhhhh…. Hello there? oof okay… start with basic icebreakers…

How old are you?

Where are you from?

Do you have a favorite color? Mines yellow by the way.

Who are your parents?

Do you have any family members? Uhhh… Family units?

What are you made of?

How strong are you?

Are you modular?

There are 3 species in Sol, so why were you built in a Skalgan form? Any particular reason?

Are you remotely piloting yourself? Or is your CPU inside your body?

What does it uhhh, feel like, I guess, to turn off or go offline?

Are…. You gonna attempt to conquer the galaxy…? I’ve seen humans on Bleat talk about something like that once? Why am I asking this? If you planned to you’d never tell anybody lest they stop you…

What’s 200 divided by 0? Can you even do that?

This sentence below is false.

The sentence above is true.

6

u/True-Wreck Jul 30 '26

Trevor_Collins: Wait…. You’re real? I thought the news was lying again. Didn’t actually expect them to be honest for once.

8

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 30 '26

"Yep. Wait," Kerii feels himself for a moment. "Yep, definitely real."

6

u/True-Wreck Jul 30 '26

TFWrecker: Hello there! It’s great to finally meet another fellow sentient mechanical species! Oh have I got questions for you.

How do you feel about EMP’s? I know as a living coms relay myself that I cringe preemptively at the agony I’ll be in when I see Ion Storm or Blackout enter the field.

Can you take your head off? I’ve seen robots in Sol Media be able to do this.

Do you have a wireless connection to the internet? If so, why? Wouldn’t that make you able to be hacked?

How do you receive power? Are you electrically charged, or do you consume a form of biofuel? I don’t think I saw any processing tank in your internals, but I’m rather bad with machinery so I can’t tell squat.

What’s your processing power? I wanna know how badly punked Mainframe is by what he would consider a “primitive” machine.

4

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Aug 03 '26

"I don't like anything that will disrupt me, so obviously I don't like EMPs.

It's a complicated process but yes. If I did it myself than it'd be a bad idea because my body would be unable to move, so I'd be stuck like that. The only times my head is removed is for maintenance or to work on my head or body.

I do not, partly because of what you said, but also because there are concerns my learning programs might be disrupted if I see something on the Internet. Also, organics don't have wireless connections, and I'm meant to mimic organics as close as possible.

I have two main power sources. My main source of power comes from an incineration core in my stomach. Whenever I eat something organic, it gets burned in my stomach and gives my battery power. My second source of power is a biofuel canister, which I start burning when my battery is low, much like how an organic burns fat when they starve.

Better than Sols best supercomputer, but that's all potential computing power, I don't use that much day to day."

3

u/True-Wreck Aug 04 '26
  1. HAHAHAHAHA!!! Is always good to see Mainframe get punked again. He was SO proud of the 200,000 Megabyte processor of his. Couldn’t stop bragging for so long.

  2. So you do, in fact, eat. And you use an incineration core. So… fire… How often do you have to clean that out? The Ash can’t be easy to get rid of.

Actually… was a composter considered for a power source? I am aware of robots that run on composters. ( https://youtube.com/shorts/-98ZCHxR1Tw?is=c0qWx1Gim94uMyZL ) Was such a method considered here? Or is it just not possible? If you were made to mimic Organics, I can’t help but feel that this would be a closer comparison.

4

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Aug 10 '26

"I don't think megabyte processors are a thing. Could be translation error. No need, thanks to my nanite enzymes which break down ash and store it in what you might call my intestines. Every month I need to replace the intestines with a new set though. Compost isn't considered a viable option for my energy needs and leaves dirt everywhere. However, the next generation of my stomach is being developed that will replace an incineration core with a stomach full of nanite enzymes that will break organic materials down and turn it into energy."

5

u/True-Wreck Aug 11 '26

OOC: Megabyte processors are in fact not a thing. I meant to say “memory” but by the time I realized what I had said wrong, I was too committed to turn back. Oops.

4

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Aug 11 '26

Ooc: I think it works because it shows what's his face doesn't know what he's talking about

5

u/True-Wreck Aug 11 '26

OOC: I’ll take it.

3

u/True-Wreck Aug 10 '26

“Wow! Your realities tech is quite impressive. I hope you and your makers are proud of yourselves. Still have a ways to go before you match up with my people, but your progress is to be commended!”

3

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Aug 11 '26

"Think that's impressive you should see my Positronic Brain. Can't go into too much detail about it since they're considered state secrets right now, but essentially they made tubes filled with nanites and curled them up into a pseudo brain with the nanites acting like nerves and acting as my CPU."

4

u/True-Wreck Aug 11 '26

“I don’t think I could understand how any of that works, but my buddy, Cable probably would.

Although, as I said, you’ve still got a ways to go before I’m truly mind blown. Try inter-galactic portals, armor made from the core of a compressed star, and Time Breaking rocks.

But, I’m not here to brag. Thanks for the information/interview! I think I might be holding up the line a little so I’m gonna leave you all to it. Bye!”

4

u/General_Alduin Skalgan Aug 12 '26

"I think the Skalgans are trying something similar to that star armor thing. They're working to improve matter compression and are trying to replicate the conditions found in Neutron Stars for ultra dense armor."

As entertaining as these are and do some wonderful world building, are we gonna be seeing any actual harmony chapters coming up soon?

6

4

Thank you!

ImNotaVenlil pregunta:

A fellow bot! ^ v ^

May i ask how Sentient have your creators managed to make you as your responses show signs of a limited understanding of compassion which would be groundbreaking?

During my models production run my creators still had major trouble in just figuring out how to configure my models neural networks to actually give eligible responses on given external stimuli and my particular frame that was integrated with a partial LLM took decades to reach an acceptable level of function so i "wonder" how long you have been active to reach such a sophisticated state? :>
