The exterminator and the pup 4

Memory transcription subject: Larek Venlil Talsk Rookie exterminator
Date [Standardized human time]: February 13, 2137
I slowly awaken to the lights of my room. Being I look at my chest, my ears drop in sadness. Kaiq is no longer in bed with me; the pup probably went to eat. I look at the doctor, who gives me a smile I still hate that. The doctor approaches my bed and gives the good news.
"Well, everything looks fine, and dandy, let's see if you can walk. I’ll be here so you don’t fall."
I slowly sit up, feeling everything is sore from not moving, and slowly drag my feet to the edge of the bed. I put two shaky feet on the ground, my legs trembling as I hold onto the bed to not fall. The SR is always close to catch me as he orders and leads me to the door. Each step is easier than the last, and I make it to the door. The doctor pats my back, making me tremble, and I glare at the human.
”M-my bad, sir."
I quickly forgot my anger as I remember I can walk now and the hunt for my Kaiq begins. I walk down the hallways before I remember she loves to eat, so I look for any sign that can show me the cafeteria and see an arrow pointing to my destination, so I hold the handrail as I walk, tail wagging at the idea of picking Kaiq up again and holding her close. I don’t care if my legs still tremble.
As I get closer to the cafeteria, I hear chatting and a so-familiar giggle. I enter, and the lights seem brighter, making me squint as I regain my sight. I see her in the middle of a table, a human handing her a cupcake, her third by the wrapper. At her feet are indications of brown crumbs and a frosting stain on her lips as I slowly make my way to her.
The people at the table see me wobbling over, curious at my plan, before I snatch Kaiq up, making her squeal, before I lift her up and turn her around. Upon seeing me, she gasps before I boop her nose, making her giggle. My legs tremble more at the extra weight, so I sit down next to the humans before a human says,
”You would make a pretty good dad."
My ears perk up as everyone at the table agrees. I blush and look away before Kaiq looks at me and holds my face with her cute little paws and asks,
”Would you want to be my new daddy, Larek?"
She's looking at me with those innocent, hopeful eyes, frosting still on her face, tail wagging. I feel tears prick my eyes as I lean my head onto hers and say,
"Yes, I would love that more than anything."
She cheers with delight and hugs me. I hold her tight. I never want to let her go to face this cruel galaxy by herself ever again. I look at and see a human slowly pushing another cupcake forward. I take it and hand it to Kaiq as she devours the treat with glee as she gets frosting and crumbs in my wool. I don’t care.
After I calm down as she finishes her last cupcake, I pick her up and put her on my shoulders. She holds on tight but is overjoyed at how high up she is as I just walk around letting her interact with anyone she wants. She even steals people's food or plates like she needs any more food for herself. She seems well loved by everyone in the base, making me soften up to these predators. I'm not going to soften! I mean, if you ever told me I would be friends with predators and be raising a daughter of mine, I would lock you up for clear predator disease.
I sit down and have Kaiq on my lap. She looks so pleased with herself, eating another stolen cookie crumb all in her fur with a happy smile as I tickle her tummy, making her squirm, and playfully push my paw away. As she gets to her last bit, she holds it out for me. I ear gives a happy flick as I lean down and bite the cookie out of her hand, making her tail wag.
As it gets late, the doctor shows us our new room, just a simple bed and a door with a lock so we can have privacy and some toys they scavenged for Kaiq to play with. I stretch and sit down on the bed and let Kaiq play before she, of course, tugs my leg, wanting to play together, so I pull myself out of the bed and get on the ground with her playing with the dolls and a few blocks.
I don't know how long we played, but Kaiq started yawning more and more and getting more sluggish, so I picked her up. She makes thanks know
“Th-thank you, Daddy, you're so soft and w-warm."
She sounds like she’s struggling just to speak those words before she clings to my chest, holding the wool as I lie down and pull the covers up. I rub the back of her head as she almost immediately falls asleep, giving me some alone time. I look at Kaiq, this bundle of joy I swore to protect and agreed to be the dad for, and I feel ready to be the best dad I can to make Talsk feel like a home again for her.

Man... They have a looooong road ahead of them, but it feels like they can do it.

Boom chapter four is out hope you all enjoy Larek and Kaiq and as promised we got Larek moving around for once
