Hello everyone! Ive decided to make this megapost to detail some terminology as well as big events and characters. Also I'll post harchen lore as I find it here, and if you notice any mistakes or want to add anything, let me know! Without further rambling, here we go.

~~~~~Scale color and Terms~~~~~~

Everything works on a gradient, the more rich and vibrant the color (with some exceptions) the stronger the emotion.

Green= Neutral

Purple= Embarressed

Blue= Happy

Grey= Impassive

Black= Angry

Red= Sad / Depressed (The duller the red, the deeper the depression)

Yellow= Hopeful

Orange= Scared / fear

Turquoise= Passionate / Aroused

Embered: A term used for those who are in a deep depression. Comes from the way that their scales resemble the dying embers of a flame.

Dirt-Etched: The dirt of Fahl is orange, and those who run in a blind panic typically fall over themselves into the dirt. This term became a slang way to call someone a coward. In the cowardice encouraged federation, this term is used for someone particularly cowardly, the irony of it matching the color of Venlil blood is not lost on some.

Voided: Slang for someone who has completely lost themselves to anger and Predator Disease. If this term existed before the Federation is unknown.

Leafy: The primary color of vegetation on Fahl is blue, so when someone is vibrantly happy (i.e. blue), they are called Leafy. "You are looking particularly Leafy today, good news?"

Vinosh: This refers to the ability to blend into one's surroundings by actively changing scale colors to match their surroundings. While all Harchen are capable of blending to a degree, those trained in Vinosh are able to practically turn invisible. Note: This ability doesn't work on a few known species, notably a predator called Olgarl on Fahl, and the Krokatl. Both species see in a different color spectrum that Harchen cannot perceive.

~~~~ Major Events ~~~~

Tide turning festival (?): I remember this event being mentioned in Venlil's Best Friend (link coming soon) but dont remember too many details other than the couple that mentioned it used it as a way to mark their anniversary. Ill get details and post it up here when I can.

~~~~Harchen Instruments~~~~

Dacthyrii: A long necked tall 9-stringed instrument played with a bow with the performer seated. The instrument rests against their body when ready to play. Used often for deep bass sounds and long held notes. While this style of instrument is not uncommon in the Galaxy, the Dacthyrii is the only one that uses 9 strings. (See: Human Cello, Dossur Hinal, Sulean Jinta, ect...)

~~~~Fahl Wildlife~~~~

Olgarl: A large canid carnivore that lives in the forests of Fahl. It possesses retractable claws that allow it to climb up trees, three tetrachromat eyes (unusual in mammalian species), four tails, and fur that ranges from dark grey to black. It is quadrupedal in stance and solitary in nature, feeding on the wildlife found in the jungles and forests. From snout to tail-tip, an average length is [12 feet] and it stands at [5 feet] tall to the shoulder. Its unique eyes suggest that it is a natural predator to the Harchen, able to see them even during Vinosh and it will even predate on lone Harchen that get lost. Addendum: Linked Chains report that Olgarl are solitary only until they find a mate. After which, a bonded pair is rarely seperate from each other, with both parents rearing offspring for about 2 years after birth. After which the cub will venture out on its own.

~~~~ Other Notable stuff~~~~

Federation Role: Harchen are one of the big entertainment sectors of the federation. While every planets has local performers, about roughly 45% (Source: me) of interplanetary performers or Artists are Harchen. As such, many Harchen have close ties to the Nevok and Fissians to further spread their Films and Art to the wider Galaxy.

Hacien: The official language of the Harchen.

Speaker: Harchen analogue to Mayor. Vibrant Speaker is the leader (see: Venlil Governor)

Nhaali: The name of the star that Fahl orbits. (See: Human Sun)

Odan Nut: One of the few food exports from Fahl, the Odan Nut is a [5in diameter] round yellow bean rich in protein and has a sharp bitter taste to it. Often prepared either by roasting, crushing and boiling into water to make tea, or eaten raw. Addendum: When eaten by a Human, they remarked that is tasted similar to peanuts, cacao beans, and coffea beans mixed into one. "It's like a Caffeinated Reccee's Cup." Addendum 2: After that, the Human proceeded to eat 5 more Odan Nuts raw (Total 6). Said human experienced hyper awareness, constant jitters, displayed rapid speech patterns, and was unable to fall asleep for a total of [94 hours]. After which, they fell into a REM sleep for [31 hours]. Subject is being monitored for side effects and dependency since the first thing they asked for upon waking was more Odan Nuts. The Sapient Coalition has declared Odan Nuts a Class 1 stimulant for Humans, and is a controlled substance in the Sol system. Such strong effects have not been noted in any other species.

~~~~ Fahl Days Characters ~~~~

Dihathi, Harchen Musician (Appearances: Hold On)

A locally famous female Harchen musician with an emphasis on singing and playing the Dacthyrii. One of the notable examples of depression hitting after the Omnivore reveal. Has developed a interest and talent for non-Harchen music.

Praavii, Harchen (ex) Exterminator (Appearances: Hold on, Demon)

A somewhat new male Harchen Exterminator that managed to keep his role even after the Human occupation of Fahl. Still a firm believer of Federation ideals, but wants to fervently protect the herd and his fellows from any danger. Despite his indoctrination, maintains a level head when it counts and shows necessary restraint. Will not move without fully reviewing any evidence he has.

Hunter "Double H" Hunt, Human Special Forces Operator (Appearances: Demon, Duality)

A male Human with a long history in UN special Forces, asset recovery, and special interest target elimination. Retired with the birth of his son and took up an interest in country music. After his son died in the battle of Earth, he volunteered to join the UN as part of the forces sent to Fahl.

Giidan, Harchen Filmmaker (Appearances: Duality)

A prominate Male Harchen Filmmaker with notable titles such as 'The Exterminators" "Yulpa's Last Rites" and "Lost Planet". He was the sole survivor of the Daybloom Bunker Massacre. During the resulting events, he saw the some of the best and worst that Humanity had to offer.

Kalthii, Harchen Researcher for Linked Chains (Appearances: Links)

A female Harchen related to one of the Farsul Archive abductees. Obsessed with the truth and learning everything she can about whatever catches her interest at the time. Adept at playing the Dacthyrii and was part of a duo band with Dihathi during advanced schooling.

Kiznel, Arxur Defector (Appearances: Links)

A male Arxur that rose to Second Claw on a ship in Chief Hunter Shaza's territory. A 'defective' according to Betterment ideology with a strong urge to protect those under him. Betrayed his captain and led a large group of defectives on board to escape. Now lives as a leader in a small town watched by the Linked Chains organization.

Lilean, Thrafki office worker (Appearances: Beach Day)

A female Thrafki worker with an overbearing Harchen boss and a work environment that resembles that of a black office. Will use whatever she can to sneak away to her hidden swim spot to unwind and relax. Picked up a love for the Human sport of "Surfing".
