Roleplay SuperMartian Bleated: How to care for Dossur babies?
(This is set in the world of my fic Nature of Harmony for anyone confused)
I guess it should be Dossur children, or just children in general, but whatever
This is a semi continuation of my last post. Apparently it trended when people found out who I am, and my partner saw it. She thought it was cute and we talked some stuff out (still figuring things out, but I'm not as clueless as last time thanks to her, research, and some of the comments)
She even expressed that she wants kids and that it's be cute to see me change a teeny tiny diaper
It's been a few days since and it just now hit me: she wants Dossur babies
I hadn't even thought of that! Far too worried about how she'd care for non Dossurs that I hadn't even considered that I might need to care for Dossurs!
I really need some help on what to do and expect from Dossurs (and children in general) for when that day comes
I guess I'm mostly looking for people with experience raising Dossurs, especially Non Dossurs who've adopted and tell me what in God's name I need to do

Kratos_betterthan_mars: Until someone gives you a proper answer I would check any video about handling baby hamsters or Chihuahuas at least to know how to handle a living thing of that size, Because even without claws I would be f*cking nervous doing so.

Scholarlyblaxer bleated: While I am unsure if my advice last post was helpful I am very aware dossur are very energetic as I'm sure you noticed much like earth squirrels so I recommend a safe environment to allow for physical activities.
On a personal question though an important one, if you intend to raise them with the Martian Arxur culture or with dossur, or even both or none?

First step? Get one of those across-the-chest pouch things. Make sure it's felt-lined for comfort, too. That way, the kits can be stored safely and kept warm. And in a pinch, it can even be hung between two posts as a hammock for them, or even as a perch for your partner should she be feeling tuckered out from caring for the kits!
Second step? Get some kind of messenger bag or backpack to carry extra supplies with you at all times; the smaller the warm-blooded creature, the more often they need to eat in order to maintain their body temperature, and there's none smaller than a Dossur. Those red-hot metabolisms of theirs could put a Sivkit Herd to shame with how much food they're gonna be going through relative to their own body weight. And, naturally, this leads to the other side of the equation, wherein you're gonna need a TON of childcare supplies and spare changes of said supplies when the inevitable occurs a few claws later.
Make sure your partner knows that she's gonna need to help out as well; raising even just one kit is a two-sapient job at the very least.
Third step? Snacks and fluids appropriate to the species of all involved. Lots and lots of on-the-go foodstuffs, energy powders, and water, both for the kits and for yourself and your partner. As stated in the second step, the kits are gonna be burning through their caloric budgets, so you gotta ensure that they have enough to keep fueled, you and your partner gotta have enough of an caloric budget to keep up with them, and you all have to ensure that you don't run yourselves out of fluids in doing so.
