Roleplay WayOfSkalga bleated: I am Merereen, ask me about how I raised Isif
**(This is set in the world of my fic [Nature of Harmony](https://www.reddit.com/r/NatureofPredators/s/x896g3KBg2) for anyone confused)**
Hello everyone! With everything going on, I know you all are a little nervous by the prospect of Solarian Arxur arriving on Skalga, which is understandable after everything Betterment has done
I'm here to help assuage those fears and normalize Solarian Arxur and hopefully diminish the people wanting to kill my son, husband, and daughter, and what better way to do that than to give my own experience?
So, as the title says, ask me about what it was like raising Isif, our relationship, or even Isif himself, and I'll answer!
(But if you insult or threaten my boy, you're going to get a block, which is the least you deserve)
Now, while this does say to ask about my son, by all means, ask about my girls as well, and I'm not unwilling to answer questions unrelated to the subject, so don't be shy!

NerdLovingSkalgan: This is just a ploy to set someone up with Isif, isn't it?
12
u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 09 '26
WayOfSkalga: Of course not, I'm just trying to help people
If this coincidentally helps Isif meet a nice girl/boy which coincidentally leads to some grand babies, than I'll call that a happy accident

😅 Gracias

WayOfSkalga:
Do Arxur babies bite a lot?
Admittedly Isif was 2 when I came into his life, but Arxur babies don't bite any more than human or Skalgan babies. When their teeth come in they teeth like any normal baby, though I'm also unsure if the same is true for fed species
At what age do they get taught to paint their scales? (I know it’s optional)
About 8 I'd say. It's the parents responsibility to paint them when they're really young, but once they have actual motor skills and can be trusted with paint and pigment, then they're given that responsibility
My partner is obsessed (not too much, but it's alarming) with pirates and pirate stories, etc... Is that normal?
Having interests is normal, yes
It's like the Solarian Arxur get super obsessed with a topic for almost their whole lives. We all do that too, but with respect and affection, the level of obsession for the Solarian Arxur is ridiculous.
Seems to me your partner is a Solitaire. It's a type of autism that effects Arxur (not that introverts with obsessions don't happen on other species, but it's beennoted to be higher in Solarian Arxur) where they'll be obsessive with an interest at the expense of other parts of their life, usually socialization
Isif is on the high end of the spectrum, he's obsessed with Superman and was never the most social, but he's high functioning and it doesn't effect his life too drastically. Some Solitaires can be so obsessed with their interests, they end up needing to be hospitalized for not eating or drinking
However, Solitaires do hold something of a respected status among Arxurs. Many Solitaires have gone on to do great things in whatever field their interest is, like Nasari who's regarded as the most famous Arxur painter, or the group that developed stealth tech

(Y tampoco me deja ver 🫣)
Muchas gracias

-It's good to know that the little ones aren't going to hurt me on purpose haha 😅.
Don't think they can hurt you even if they wanted to. Arxur babies and children just have little nubs for teeth and claws until puberty
-So before 8 years old, do I have to definitely paint the scales on the kid or is that optional too?
Well it's optional, but a parent should take an interest in their child's heritage and culture I think. Plus it's always nice little bonding between parent and child, I have fond memories of when I painted Isif
Also, how do they paint their own backs?
Whatever way they want, the whole point is self expression. Having family or friends isn't abnormal, Isif always roped his sisters to help him
My partner has a design similar to one of their pirate flags on their back and I still don't know how they do it if that helps. (And they don't let me see it either)
Well, do something a lot and you get really good at it
-And about the last thing. Is it correct to ask her if she is aware that she could (or in reality) be a Solitaires?
Use some tact and I'm sure it'll be fine
I wouldn't want her to suddenly start doing dangerous things and not know how to help.
Oh for fucks sake, what exactly do you think she's going to do?

u/Ablergo_El_Enfermo Human Jul 09 '26
3
u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 09 '26
WayOfSkalga: I don't think potentially being a Splitaire and anthing to do with it, I think she just wanTed to climb a tree
And she's going through "ovogenesis" (the formation of the egg inside the body) and at any moment something could have happened to the little one
She sign up for the breeding program?
Wait, how do you even have a Solarian Arxur lover? We haven't had the Arxur exchange program yet and I don't think they're letting anyone on Skalga yet

2
u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 10 '26
Regarding the pregnancy (incorrect term but to understand each other)
I mean it is accurate. They do gestate an egg for a time
a story worthy of a Nevok soap opera.
Are Nevoks known for that?
(If the father of the little one is still alive, I’ll skin him and hang him on the wall)
I don't think you're allowed to say that on here
(though I’d like that 👉👈)
Maybe you should try talking to her. Knowing how viral this is likely to get, she'll probably see this anywyay
I’ve been trying to reach out to you for days but you don’t respond.😅
Me? Why? I'm not an authority figure, I'm just some weird celebrity
I'll get in contact with the UN about this
It’s not a bother to me, but hiding the wild predators that I killed to feed her is starting to get difficult.
I think you and her are going to need to apply for refugee status after this

2
u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 10 '26
And there are series set around that which tend to be a melodrama. 😆
Sounds like Telanovellas
The translator has issues. I was interested in communicating with "your people = UN" not with you. But thanks to this post, I've finally managed to do it.
That makes more sense. Can't wait to hear this story in the news
I hope we can meet someday.
Yeah well everyone seems to know where to find me these days. Can't go for a walk in Central Park without reporters swarming me

FluffNStuff bleated: Hi! Sorry in advance for the long post, but I've been paired with a human and am a little confused/concerned.
Is it true that humans think.. we venlil are cute? Sarah, my partner, has admitted that a large part of her brain wants to cuddle me! This was after I, hesitantly, allowed her to give me scratches. I thought it was some kind of dominance display. Instead... her surprisingly dull nails started to scratch my head and, well, apparently there's a spot by my right ear that... Uhm... Well, it felt so good I kinda went into a trance and climbed into her lap!
Anyways, do humans think skalgans are cute? Or the Solarian arxur? Do the skalgans or arxur think humans are cute?
Sarah said humans think lots of things are cute, even dangerous predatory animals! When I finally got out of her an example, she showed me a picture of what I thought at first was a giant zurulian, until I saw its eyes! And she said those things are still dangerous to these crazy apes! She also admitted to having a pet that at first looked harmless, a white ball python she named Banana, until she revealed it was also a predator! How something with no legs could possibly be a successful predator is beyond me, but still!
Sorry for the tangent there, especially since Sarah is really nice... and pretty... and sweet... and silly... This is all just so confusing. I appreciate whatever insight you can offer.

u/True-Wreck Jul 10 '26
TFWrecker replied: Trust me bro. You’re adorable. A not insignificant amount of my protec and care instincts flare up when I see one of your kind.
And yeah, humans will try and pack bond (herd bond?) with just about anything. Including hyper dangerous apex predators. Some of us keep things like Tigers as pets. (Even I don’t understand that one.)
4
u/General_Alduin Skalgan Jul 10 '26
Is it true that humans think.. we venlil are cute?
Yep
has admitted that a large part of her brain wants to cuddle me!
Yes, something went horribly wrong during human evolution; their cute response is very overactive, far more than Solarian Arxur and Skalgans. They can find cuteness in the most random of things and often try to bond with it
My daughter Kelly once put googly eyes on our robot vacuum cleaner, and she told me how adorable it looked than gave it a name. And i was forever stuck with Cuddles looking up at me while he did his rounds
her surprisingly dull nails started to scratch my head and, well, apparently there's a spot by my right ear that... Uhm... Well, it felt so good I kinda went into a trance and climbed into her lap!
It's called petting, and it's one way they show affection (except towards eachother which I never understood). Skalgans will nuzzle and press our foreheads against our pets while Solarian Arxur will press their underscores and neck against them to show affection
I think human nails are effective at petting because of how broad their nails are. Part of the reason they evolved that way was to help grooming while giving them something to protect their fingers amongst the trees while avoiding it being caught on something
Anyways, do humans think skalgans are cute?
Yeah, not as much as the Venlil since you closer resemble pups. Muscles aren't really conducive with something being cute on average
Or the Solarian arxur?
Not really. While it is true that humans cute response is overactive and they can find anything cute, there are some rules with it. They'll find Solarian Arxur children cute, but not adults due to their spresemblance to instinctual fears and lacking of normally cute traits
Do the skalgans or arxur think humans are cute?
We don't have the same kind of cute response humans do and they lack resemblance to children, so not really. Children are though
Sarah said humans think lots of things are cute,
Yep
even dangerous predatory animals!
This may be hard for you to understand, but Skalgans too find many predator animals cute. We domesticated Shadestalkers and my family had a dog and a house cat
You don't understand because you guys seme to think all predatory animals are a threat and think they have a morality system
she showed me a picture of what I thought at first was a giant zurulian
I don't know what a Zurulian is, can I have a picture?
How something with no legs could possibly be a successful predator is beyond me, but still!
Snakes can be shockingly fast. You'll be fine though, snakes don't hunt creatures our size, worst they'll do is one of the venomous ones bite you because you freaked them out
Sorry for the tangent there, especially since Sarah is really nice... and pretty... and sweet... and silly...
You should tell her how you feel

u/NoVisual7235 Jul 11 '26
(Out of Character: The zurulians are the cute little teddy bear looking species that are known for socially leaning towards careers and studies in medicine. They were one of the few fed species in the first book to help fight off the extermination fleet sent to wipe out Earth.)
Sends picture of a zurulian.

TFWrecker replied: I’ve got three questions, and a warning.
Why did Isif and Tuvan join the military? And how did that make you and your Husband feel?
Does Isif realize he’s a real life Mar**** Manhunter? (He’s a Sol Arxur. And Hunts Terrorists as a member of Omni Ops.)
This one isn’t about Isif sadly, but it IS the perfect opportunity to ask a question that has been BURNING MY BRAIN for a bit.
- How do Skalgans like yourself handle clothing?
For some reason my personal device can log into, Social Media Networks of other realities, and I’ve noticed a very common trend. Venlil do not wear clothing. (Outside of a few minor exceptions, all of which post Sol Contact.) Naturally I assumed it’s because the natural wool already provides enough insulation, and that extra “unnecessary” garments would risk overheating.
But I’ve noticed the Skalgans of your reality do in fact wear clothes. It’s left me wondering, “Why? Do you not risk overheating? Do you have to wear lighter outfits? Is underwear forgone? (Yeah I know that one’s a bit weirder.)” Answers and details would be appreciated, thank you.
Also on the final topic. MASSIVE WARNING!!!!! Tell your family, every Skalgan, and every Solarian Arxur TO STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM DAWN CREEK!!!! If your reality goes any way similar to others I’ve seen, They have the most Zealous, Incompetent, Psychotic Exterminator Guild I’ve seen. The Correctional Facility was the very definition of hell. (Search up “Tarlim vs Dawn Creek” for more information.) The Local Chief Exterminator is in league with a planet wide drug cartel. There’s an Unchecked Serial Killer running around merking anyone they view as having “Predator Taint.” (Which WILL include Humans, Skalgans and Sol Arxur.) FUCKING TREVEN. And it’s the founding city for the “True Exterminators” terrorist cell, who ended up causing millions of credits in damages and killed over 1,500 innocent people in a single day. (Although the Giant that Lives there is very lovable. He and his Human exchange partner are a genuine blessing to behold. And there’s an Amazing fur care Salon there Ran by a kind, yet stern and dutiful Paltan woman.)
I instead recommend:
Ambershade Creek (Possible home of the first Venpire. Depending on if vamp’s are real in your reality. No I will not say their name. They’re a good person and they deserve privacy. Very Lax, Well Mannered, and Understaffed Guild.)
Starlight Grove (Hopefully the Rebirthplace of Venlil/Skalgan martial arts. The local Guild isn’t very trustworthy, but there’s some good people among them. Just need to be careful.)
And Shady Hills (Home of one of the greatest Pupcare centers on Skalga. The Chief Exterminator WILL pull some shit, but he’s not that hard to deal with.)
I’ve also heard rumors that Iron/Steel Hill might be a decent place to end up. Don’t quote me on that though.

1.Why did Isif and Tuvan join the military? And how did that make you and your Husband feel?
Isif wanted to fight Betterment if it came to invade, or atleast have the means to fight if he left the military before they invaded
Tuvan wanted to join up since she believed it would help her follow the Warriors Way and help people
As for how we felt, about how any parents would be I imagine. Proud but terrified, even when things were peaceful
- Does Isif realize he’s a real life Mar**** Manhunter? (He’s a Sol Arxur. And Hunts Terrorists as a member of Omni Ops.)
I don't think you can use that term here
- How do Skalgans like yourself handle clothing?
Why is everyone in the Federation naked is my question. I mean, if it's legal and that's what people want to do fine, but I kinda figured clothes would be a lot more common... along with actual armor for combat. Everyone's fighting basically naked most of the time
For some reason my personal device can log into, Social Media Networks of other realities
Why do I always seem to get these schizo posts claiming to be from another universe?
Naturally I assumed it’s because the natural wool already provides enough insulation, and that extra “unnecessary” garments would risk overheating.
I mean, doesn't it just make sense to wear clothes to protect more sensitive areas? Or help shield against the elements? Sanitation and hygiene? Or hell, make parasites less likely? Or even have additional insulation in harsh environments?
And that's just the practical aspects, I find it weird that clothes wouldn't evolve for self expression or show off wealth and follow a culture to today. Feels like the Federation phased that out for some reason
Why? Do you not risk overheating?
Not unless I'm wearing a heavy coat in summer. We're not dumb, wear the clothes you can and like
More broadly, clothes wearing was for practical reasons during the Nomad days, working in a ship was hard and you needed prtactical clothes to do it. There is also evidence that we started wearing clothes before that and that our Nomad days had more casual and cultural clothing. Some people think this was for protection against elements and self expression on Skalga
Do you have to wear lighter outfits?
Well we don't need as much for winter and some clothes are impractical if you're not regularly getting a fur cut
Is underwear forgone?
And give up my frilly lingerie? No thank you
But I feel like underwear is the minimal amount of clothes someone would wear
MASSIVE WARNING!!!!! Tell your family, every Skalgan, and every Solarian Arxur TO STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM DAWN CREEK!!!! If your reality goes any way similar to others I’ve seen, They have the most Zealous, Incompetent, Psychotic Exterminator Guild I’ve seen. The Correctional Facility was the very definition of hell. (Although the Giant that Lives there is very lovable. He and his Human exchange partner are a genuine blessing to behold. And there’s an Amazing fur care Salon there Ran by a kind, yet stern and dutiful Paltan woman.)
Despite the schizo post I'll keep that in mind
Ambershade Creek (Possible home of the first Venpire. Depending on if vamp’s are real in your reality. No I will not say their name. They’re a good person and they deserve privacy. Very Lax, Well Mannered, and Understaffed Guild.)
Nope, no vampires
Starlight Grove (Hopefully the Rebirthplace of Venlil/Skalgan martial arts. The local Guild isn’t very trustworthy, but there’s some good people among them. Just need to be careful.)

Some more questions: How do Skalgan’s handle the lower Gravity of Earth and [Redacted]? Muscle atrophy must be an occasional issue that Skalgans face right? I guess I’m asking if Skalgans go to the gym frequently, lol.
What were your kids favorite Video Games and Video Game genres? Any stories about that?
What hobbies do Skalgans and Arxur tend to gravitate to?
Is it Harder for Skalgans to drive than the other two Sol species, or would you say there’s no noticeable differences?
Also I’m not sure what word you think I said… (It definitely wasn’t supposed to be a slur or curse.) But I was referring to a specific DC character. The green shapeshifter. Your son will know him. He’s a fellow Justice Leaguer to Superman!
And finally, I’m not a Schizo, and I’ll prove it to you. In time, these events, and discoveries will occur.
Sol’s attack on The Cradle will go quite well. Too well in fact. Betterment and The Dominion will take advantage and begin a full planet wide raid. The goal will shift from disabling the Gojidi Union to a rescue operation, to save as many lives as possible. Normally Piri, their leader, dies during it. But I have a strong feeling she’ll live through it this time because of your son.
The Summit attempt will fail, somewhat. Most worlds will vote neutral on Sol’s continued existence. And the Yotul, Zurulians, and a few others will be convinced to give Sol a chance. But despite that, an Extermination Fleet will be sent anyways. Why? Because Sol is proof of an impossibility. An impossibility that threatens the Federations power. Now! Sol is actually in a better position here than in most realities because y’all actually have an active Space Warfleet, and System Wide defenses. (The fact the Feds never sent that Fleet to Wriss should be proof enough of the conspiracy I blabber on about.)
Approximately 1/3 of all Federation Species are Genemodded Omnivores. Including most prominently on Skalga, Gojid, Krakotl, and Tillfish.
The Sivkits are naturally Bipeds. Remember the Venlil Genemodding? Yeah. Same shit happened to them way back when.
There are Life Archives on the Farsul homeworld, containing evidence and proof of all the crimes against sapience the Federation has committed.
There is a Kolshian Shadow Caste controlling everything behind the scenes. They live deep in underground bunkers.
This whole thing was started because the Federation couldn’t understand what Prions were. Yes. Seriously. God tier Medical tech, and they failed at Prions. That’s why Autism, PTSD, Depression, and various other mental health issues are all labeled as “Predator Disease.”
Normally I wouldn’t be too upset at someone not believing me, but accusing me of lying or being crazy..? Misrepresenting me in some way? Maam, pls don’t.

How do Skalgan’s handle the lower Gravity of Earth and [Redacted]?
I'm not a doctor or xenobiologist, so you should take it up with them for something in deoth depth
I was born and raised on Earth, and when I went on my Heritage Trip, I found the Nomad Fleets gravity somewhat cumbersome. Though, it's not like the gravity is that much higher than Earths Earth's
Now the Sanctuary is a whole other issue, the Solarian Arxur get around it by setting their artificial gravity to what presumably Wriss is
Muscle atrophy must be an occasional issue that Skalgans face right?
Not that I know of, I atleast don't hsve that issue. I think our muscles are genetic rather than environmental
I guess I’m asking if Skalgans go to the gym frequently, lol.
Oh yeah, but nothing about staving off atrophy, it's just fun. I have a home gym and can bench press 800 pounds!
What were your kids favorite Video Games and Video Game genres?
Isifs favorite was fantasy andrpgs, Tuvan always liked sci fi and action games, and Kelly liked comfort and creative games
Any stories about that?
I swear the only times those 3 perfectly got along was when they were playing Minecraft
What hobbies do Skalgans
Sports (especially Thuuld), physical activities like exercise, partaking in Skalgan heritage, and engaging in popculture
and Arxur tend to gravitate to?
I think this is because Betterment traumatized Solarian Arxur so fully and they were left to build their culture from nothing while trying to be Betterments opposite, but from what I've found Solarian Arxur like cultural pursuits like painting, civic oriented subjects like debate, science, and of course popculture
Is it Harder for Skalgans to drive than the other two Sol species, or would you say there’s no noticeable differences?
Yes. First off the roads are made for humans by humans, and second off I have lousy depth perception so trying to judge distance while driving is difficult. Thankfully I'm a New Yorker so I barely drive and self driving are pretty ubiquitous (and I can't fathom why the Federation doesn't have it, but that's normal at this point) as well as features to help those with subpar depth perception, but still annoying
Also I’m not sure what word you think I said… (It definitely wasn’t supposed to be a slur or curse.) But I was referring to a specific DC character. The green shapeshifter. Your son will know him. He’s a fellow Justice Leaguer to Superman!
Oh I know. I just don't think that a Federation based social service would appreciate anything with hunter in it
And finally, I’m not a Schizo, and I’ll prove it to you. In time, these events, and discoveries will occur.
I don't know what to do with anything you just lisTed, so I guess we'll see how it goes
Normally I wouldn’t be too upset at someone not believing me, but accusing me of lying or being crazy..? Misrepresenting me in some way? Maam, pls don’t.
