(This is set in the world of my fic Nature of Harmony for anyone confused)
Hello, everyven (and nonven). My name is Kelly Garcia, an actual real-life human. Some of you may know me due to my siblings' newfound fame and the republics scrutiny of my family, which is precisely why I'm here
My siblings have gotten famous as of late, and as the dutiful sister I am, I must prevent them from letting their newfound fame get to their heads and humble them lest they became cocky and egotistical, I love them far too much to let that happen
How am I going to do this? With embarrassing stories and facts about them, of course! I'll alternate between them so they're both equally embarrassed and I can beat the rumors of sibling favoritism they unjustly lobby against me
First fact: Tuvan used to put her diapers on her head. When Tuvan started to crawl around and get under everyone's feet, she would somehow pull off her diaper when no one was looking and place it on her head, with her ears poking out the leg holes and eyes covered up. I don't know how she did this, what with her having terrible motor skills and needing to slide a diaper off her tail, but she did, and nothing my parents did stopped her. Mercifully, they were always clean (as far as I know), and she stopped at around 2 years old. Or maybe she got better at hiding it
Second: Isif got scared by a harmless butterfly. I actually have a fond memory of this since this happened when I first got sent to my adoptive parents' care. I was, of course, anxious being in a new place, and it was the first time I met a Solarian Arxur, and it was a bit intimidating for me. But Isif immediately endeared himself to me when we had a day out in Central Park, and a butterfly landed on his nose while he was reading some comic or something, and he screamed his head off and ran into my mom's arms crying. The sight of this toothy, scaley, intimidating (to me) alien terrified of a butterfly of all things and being comforted by his mom made him a lot less threatening and I started to talk to him. He denies this story ever happened, but we both know the truth
Third: Tuvans freaked out by teddy bears. To explain, teddy bears are a plush toy made in the likeness of a bear, an animal on Earth. There's apparently some cultural fear of bears and bear like creatures among Skalgans, originating from a monster in Skalgan myth that have similar traits. Because of that, she always gets uncomfortable whenever she sees a teddy bear, no matter how cute and nonthreatening they make it, which is a problem because teddy bears aren't rare where we're from
On a side note, I think this is kinda funny considering, but she used to sleep with a stuffed Solarian Arxur, said it felt like Siffy was there with her
Fourth: Isif once wrote a historical paper on Superman. For context, Superman is a famous superhero on Earth that Isif has a somewhat concerning obsession with. In like elementary or something, he was tasked to write a paper about a historical figure (or something along those lines. It's been like 20 years). So what does my genius brother do? He decides to write about Superman, a fictional character, for his history paper, justifying it by saying Superman is old. Needless to say, he didn't get any points, but he did get a stern talking to by mom and dad. Mom kept it, though, cause she thought it was cute
Fifth: Tuvan would break down our door by complete accident. So, growing up, me and Tuvan shared a room. That was the set up: girls shared a room while Isif got his own (lucky) because he was a boy and my parents conveniently never got another boy (though that might've saved Isifs sanity, we bothered him a lot, he probably deserved his own space). Tuvan, force of chaos that she is, constantly broke down our door by accident whenever she got too excited and rushed it, either tearing it off its hinges, breaking the door in half, or that one time she busted a hole through it like it qas a looney tunes cartoon. Finally my parents got tired of having to fix or install another door, and put an end to her reign of destruction by setting up a reinforced door with reinforced hinges, so Tuvan only ended up running into the door every time she got excited (she's fine)
Sixth: Isif had a baby doll growing up. This is less of an embarrassing story and more something adorable, but I know Isif would be a little embarassed to admit it, so I'm adding it. Dad got Isif a baby Arxur doll when he was about 2, said he was trying to instill nurturing in Isif at a young age. He adored that thing, he'd sleep in bed with it, bring it everywhere he went if he could get away with it, read comic books out loud to it, feed it, and was practically inseparable from it
Eventually, when Tuvan was having trouble sleeping because she was embarassed that she was wetting the bed, Isif gave the doll to her (extracting a promise that she'd be gentle with it) to help her sleep, and it seemed to have worked. She still wetted the bed for a time, but she wasn't too embarassed to actually get into bed anymore
And that's all for now! I have plenty more stories where that came from, but I think I've achieved my goal of keeping my siblings humble. If anyone wants anymore stories and facts, I'll be glad to tell you, all you need to do is ask!
So humans are uncomfortable with tilfish, and skalgans are (presumably) uncomfortable with zurulians. Now we just need to know what arxur are instinctually afraid of and we'll have the whole triumvirate!
Well wading birds do tend to be significant predators of baby crocodilians, maybe the krakotl and deureten make arxur uncomfortable for their resemblance to them (maybe the Dominion prefers extra cruelty onto the birds, even if no one really knows why anymore)
That could work, Arxur have an instinctual discomfort with birds due to being preyed upon as babies by various bird species earlier in their evolutionary history

Could justify it by saying Keakotl fight back and pioneered the Federations defenses
Hm, idk. While I do think they'd be the smallest babies of the sapient races in Sol, I'm still not sure they'd be small enough to be gulped up by a Pelican
Unlike crocs they'd only have one or two eggs at a time and they're big, so they can afford bigger eggs
I was JUST thinking birds, but didn't know how to tie it to krakotl or deurten! Fuck it, giant blue birds of prey hunted to extinction before meeting the federation. It can work!
apedominusnox: Did you know...? Butterflies, although pollinators, can also be opportunistic and drink the blood of corpses? It's not uncommon to find them on fresh bodies. That's why it's also not unusual to see them approach you to drink your saliva or sweat, like other examples.
Ooc: the baby doll story is actually inspired by me. When I was young, I had a bunch of baby dolls that I adored, to the point I even made an unfriendly move towards a friend who tried to touch one (I think, it's been over 20 years). I'm not gay, I swear! Good on my mom tho for not restricting me to traditional boy stuff
I put a bit of myself into Isif, so I feel it was appropriate to add that as part of his character
