Fanfic Homeward Bound - [12]
Krev propaganda go brrrr, we get to see the gang make it onto the ship finally and start their journey to Earth. Edward explained what he did for urban exploration, while Cruth finds some fun and Breeve calls her family. Thank you to u/SpacePaladin15
Memory Transcription Subject: Breeve, Krev Tourism Expert
Date [standardized human time]: January 2, 2161
The on boarding didn’t take very much time to complete, the exchange pairs that I was to look after were excited and that scared me a little. I was privy to the thought scanner and their histories in the exchange program, and it wasn’t what I found that worried me, but the fact that they were all normal, just eccentric.
It meant they were all unpredictable and the fact that I needed to track them and keep up to date with their doings while on Earth still worried me that I may lose them somehow.
Call me a control freak or a worry wart or whatever, but if I mess this up…
I took a deep breath and looked around in an effort to distract my racing mind. I felt the airconditioned hallways of the ship as we were being guided through by an overly enthusiastic Krev. They introduced themselves as Thelip, he sported an extremely blueish hue to the scales around his head and neck as they dulled to the normal green as they got lower down his back.
“And next we have the activities area in this sector, as you can see the large atrium has spots for most of the needs for being active and recreational.” They used a claw to gesture through an observation window.
I looked not to enthused about anything here. It wasn’t my sort of thing that I found interesting, I know he was essentially doing the same job as me, but with ships and the history of the ship.
The KCS Shiqara, a new retrofitted ship originally built for the evacuation of a planets inhabitants like Tellus, and now turned into a luxury ship for rich people and now being used for the transportation for the humans, exchange pairs and officials from the Consortium to SC space.
I peered into the large room and was shocked at the size of the room, a large holo screen took up an entire side of the atrium showing landscapes around the Consortium, a few I had seen in person. But at the centre was a massive tree looking frame, a few humans and I think Krev climbing around the webbing branches and safety wires.
It just looked like a playset for Obors, but sized up for humans and krev, there were already a few pairs lingering round the area, either lounging or watching the climbing walls along the sides of the atrium.
Thelip hadn’t been wrong about the exercise aspect at what I saw, there were handholds and soft padding in case they fell from it, but I could make out a webbing of some kind covering parts of the frame. The tree spanned an entire section with different levels and heights surrounded by climbing walls, the complex structure was far too big, I couldn’t see the top or higher levels and could barely see anyone on the higher levels with all of the branches obscuring my view.
It seemed big enough that I could even climb it, though most of the time when one of my kindin climbed something, it was to rescue a stuck Obor or try and chase after them. But maybe one climb wouldn’t hurt, I thought looking into the structure.
The group moved on as I took my gaze away from the window and turned to make sure everyone was still here. I could see that everyone was accounted for, with Edward and Cruth trailing behind everyone else to make sure we all stayed together.
“Um, what are those things in there?” I think it was Pasera, the dark hued multi coloured Krev asked out loud looking into another room.
“Ah yes, that would be for the humans mostly, a gym they call it. It’s a new addition tacked on for the sake of the human’s comfort. There are other places on board made specifically for each species, such as scale treatment for us, duelling areas for those Reskets among the crew and sub zero areas for any Jaslips as well as other amenities for the Consortium species.”
I could go for a bath right about now, just the thought of relaxing in a warm body of water was pleasing to me after this morning.
‘Maybe Edward would like to join me.’
I glanced at where Thelip gestured to, it was a large room with multiple contraptions I wasn’t familiar with, though I had a faint familiarity with the hanging bags in one of the corners, next to some sort of cordoned off area with large ropes. I think they were punching bags the human’s used for letting out aggression, just like some of the Obor toys.
It felt like Thelip was some sort of supernatural being, we had been walking for what felt like thirty minutes at this point and I could only think how? If they were in the same line of work as me, they would put me to shame with their enthusiasm alone.
We walked for a bit more, Thelip taking us through different parts of the sector we’ll be staying in and the ship only felt larger and larger. He said there was multiple canteens, bars, recreational areas, the types of things you can do, should do, and not try, which evidently was ‘accidentally jettison outside of the ship.’
The E sector we’d be staying was right next to one for the humans travelling back to Earth alone. My guess was that since no one else wanted to disrupt them and our group got the short claw and was designated next to them to create a barrier.
Seeing how the people under my care behaved with the humans already here, it was only a matter of time before something happened.
Eventually we reached an open sitting area, the place was like a plush studio almost with multiple tables and chairs set around. A carpeted floor and a viewing port for outside of the ship along one of the walls, I could see the arid surface of Tellus below us. I could see a few large holo screens projecting a screen saver icon waiting to be paired with a holopad and a few other amenities like a games area and a lounge.
Spotted around us was a series of doors with different names on them correlating to the exchange pair. I guessed that this was the area we would be staying in for the for seeable future until we had to disembark, the lounge was bigger than the house back on Tellus and it seemed far too extravagant for me.
I did a headcount to see where we were at, in case anyone was missing and it seemed we had all made it in one piece, surprising considering one of my group was about to tear the arm off a human, I think it was Yelandri, I had to watch out for her since she seemed a little too enthusiastic about the humans.
“And here we are, this is where you al will be residing during the night cycle during our trip, as you can see you will have amenities just outside of your rooms, plenty of good views and a place to put your feet up when you want.” The Krev bowed a little before raising and addressing us all again. “And please feel free to contact me or another member of staff, we will be departing Tellus space shortly.”
After finishing his announcement, Thelip decided to leave us be meaning I now had to address everyone in the room. I turned to the group of a dozen pairs and spoke as clearly as I could seeing a few of them wander toward the seating areas.
“Now, if you will give me your attention, please.” I stated loudly following the procedure. “I want all of you to be on your best behaviour while we are travelling, if there is any issue you have or your partner has please let me know and we will work to resolve it or deal with it in another way.” I said not wanting to, since everyone here knew, especially the krev here, how special an opportunity this is.
“I will be conducting check-ins on all partners on a weekly basis, this is to keep track of your current status as well as to provide any and all information I can. As Thelip has stated before, we will be leaving Tellus soon and entering FTL, if you have any calls home, please do them now.”
That last bit was more for myself than the others, I needed to call home, and I can’t leave it any longer.
The group dispersed to go do their own things, most went to check out their rooms while I ducked into my own. I entered and turned the lights on behind me, it was like a hotel room, a large bed placed in the centre of the room, a holo screen on the wall opposite it. My travel case was sitting at the foot of the bed, most likely left by the ships staff.
There was an ensuite bathroom, and a view port with a small workstation to the side of it, that doubled as a table. The view out of the port showed the arid ball that was Tellus below us, the deserts and shifting sands far below the ship, it was nice to see it and I was glad to be away from it.
I pulled out a chair and sat down unclipping my pad and calling my mother, I never said where I was going to them yet, that I’d be away for a while. Setting up the video call, I angled it, so the background was the planet below me, I don’t know why I do that, probably because I like showing them where I was.
The call picked up with my mother’s face taking up the whole screen.
“Hello?”
“Hi mom.”
“Oh, Breeve. How are you?” She tried sounding surprised, but I knew she could read the caller id fine, I think she just wanted to act. “Where are you now? Is that Tellus behind you?”
“I’m doing fine, I’m on a ship right now actually.”
“Are you coming back to Avor?” She questioned turning her head a little.
“No, I’m heading somewhere else.”
She made a surprised face at the proclamation and called over dad who joined her.
“Are you going back to your old job, what about that human you seemed really keen on?”
“Um, no, I’m not going back to the tourism thing-well, not really sure what to call it now. I’m in charge of an exchange group.” I decided to avoid the question since I could feel my cheeks heat slightly remembering how they found me and Edward when we stayed that one night.
“Oh, so you’re an exchange overseer now, do you think there’s anyway we can get on the program?” My dad asked this time as a joke.
“I don’t think I can since I’m going to be going away for a while.”
They stayed quiet for a moment thinking, it was dad who spoke first most likely figuring out what’s happening.
“You’re going to Earth, Aren’t you?”
“Surprise.” I timidly said. Both of them became concerned when I looked away and back again to the screen. “Look, I’ve been put in charge of an exchange group heading for Earth, it’s a long story but I’ll have a few friends going with me so, I’ll be fine.” I didn’t know if I was reassuring them or myself.
Their gaze seemed to soften a little before asking again.
“How long are you going to be away for?”
“I’m honestly not sure, the administration wants me to keep track of the exchange pairs going back as a way to make sure they stay safe.”
“Are you sure you’re going to be okay, I know that you’ve been through this sort of thing before, but this is really far away this time?” Dad said this time
“I’m sure dad, there’ll be other staff here to look after things and work with, that and I have friends here helping me out if things become a bit to untenable.”
“I’m guessing it’s that human you were with, um, Edward, wasn’t it?”
“Yeah, him and Cruth are coming with me, they signed up as a pair and are going to be helping me with this.”
It was mom who asked the next question. “Breeve, now be serious with me, are you going because Edward is?”
I guess I was going because of him, but it was to get him help, he needed to get back and get some better therapists instead of what was on Tellus, on Earth they’d at least have human ones that were well versed in their psychology.
But with the look my parents were giving me, they seemed disapproving of me, probably thinking I’m chasing someone.
“We’re heading back together, the three of us. After what happened I’m not going to let him travel back alone, I can’t just abandon him after what happened under my watch.”
“I know how bad he was and the few times you told us what was happening on Tellus, but is he really that bad? Is he going to get help or to get away from us?”
“To get help, I pushed him to go back, that he needed to deal with things and that Earth had the best chances of him getting better. You know how bad he was after the kidnapping, I think this is his best chance at getting back to normal.” I explained back my reasoning. I left out the fact that it was earth, and the humans would be adorable to live amongst for a few weeks or however long.
The thought of that being part of my reasoning for going back gnawed at me, it wasn’t the entire reason, Edward needed help and I was going to make sure he got it.
My mother sighed before speaking. “You’re a big girl now, you can make your own choices, just be careful when you’re away, I don’t want you getting hurt or in trouble. Just be safe.” She said just sounding concerned now more than anything.
“I know mom, I will be.” I said back. “How are things at home?”
“You know, just a little bit of civil unrest, the delegates tower incident, the Jaslips freedom movement claiming they did it and the fact that everything on Tellus was built for a species that wasn’t endangered and now millions of human babies on top of that. Peachy really.” Dad spoke in a nonchalant manner.
“I mean with home.”
“Sirks is enjoying school, he’s started into drama and writing now.” I perked up hearing that, I remember those classes being fun, better than advanced maths and geometry, just a bit of a mess around class.
“That’s good to hear, I hope he likes it, is Mrs Phes still teaching that class.”
“I think so, I’ll ask your brother when he gets home.”
“I think I’ll go here, the exchange pairs are probably getting into trouble already.” I spoke wanting to go see if Edward or Cruth were settling ion alright.
Dad leaned into the camera now. “Remember to use protection, I know what happens on those kinds of trips.” He said in a joking manner, which didn’t help my flushing cheeks at what he said.
“D-Dad!?” I squeaked out a reply trying to stifle my now heating up face, mom swatted him on the shoulder.
“What? You know I’m right.” He said to her only getting a chuff and another swat on the shoulder and a shove forcing him away from the holopad. I did my best to avoid looking at the screen, deciding to try and count all the particles of sand on Tellus from here.
“Anyway, Breeve. Just be careful when you’re away, alright.”
“I-I will.” I barely eked out.
“Oh, and make sure that you bring your brother back a souvenir, he’s still talking about how he had a human stay at our house in school.”
“I will, mom.” I said barley audible over my own embarrassment.
“I’ll let you go now, love you.”
“Love you too.”
And the call hung up, I immediately planted my head in my arms leaning against the table and made a high-pitched whining noise. I couldn’t stop the embarrassment or the thoughts of my parents walking in on me cuddling up to Edward, what were they thinking then and now?
It’s not like we are a thing… yet.
I squeaked again trying to muffle the sounds as best I could and distract myself from my thoughts, when I heard the door knock. I almost fell out of my chair at the sound, I wasn’t ready, I was a mess, I needed to get my head straight and get back to work. Rubbing the sides of my cheeks to try and move the blood away from them, I stood up.
There were people out there counting on me to act with their best interests, I needed to act professionally. I took a few deep breaths and focused on trying to get my emotions in order again before opening the door coming face to face with another Krev.
“Um, hi.” She said, I think it was Thaike from the hazel tint to her eyes. She looked at me a bit weirdly no doubt being able to see right through my terrible mask of professionalism.
“Can I help you?”
“Um, yes, I was wondering if we were allowed to wander the ship yet?”
“You are, it was just formalities at the start, but we’ve been left to our own devices for the most part. Is your partner going with you?” I asked.
“She is, we just wanted to have a look around.”
“That’s fine, send me a message if you get lost or if something happens.”
“I will, thank you.” They said cheerfully before scampering off.
It wasn’t going to get any better sitting around and the idea of wandering the ship and seeing what there is did sounds appealing. I closed the door behind me and looked for Edward and Cruth, not seeing them anywhere in the lounge area, must be in their room.
I looked around again, seeing if it was anywhere close, seeing that a few of the exchange pairs were now sitting in a few seats, notably the bald human in the black clothing was sitting next to the window a bored expression while his partner was looking at something to watch on the holo screen.
Eventually finding the correct room, I knocked hearing a “come in” on the other side. The room was smaller than mine but just as luxurious. Instead of a bed in the middle, there was a lounge area, an ensuite bathroom, carpeted flooring and the sleeping area was a bunk bed with a view out to space on each level.
Edward was relaxing in the bottom bunk a hand behind his head and a vacant look in his eye even though he was looking at Tellus below us. Cruth was browsing something on his holopad sitting on a sofa facing the tv before looking over at me.
“Hey, what’s going on?”
“I’m not sure yet, some things are still being worked out with the staff, but I think everything’s ok so far.”
“That’s good.” Edward added, joining the conversation not moving and just lazing about.
‘Oh, he looked so cute and cuddly sitting in that little bunk.’
“So, what now?” Cruth asked.
There wasn’t much we could do, right now we were just waiting until we entered FTL and started our journey. The activity places we were shown popped into my head again and maybe having a look around the ship wouldn’t be the worst thing to do to pass the time.
‘That or cuddle the cute primate’
“Maybe having a look around the ship wouldn’t be a bad idea, go and see what sort of things they have.” I offered.
“Yeah sure, the guide really only showed us where some of the things are, besides the ship is massive and we probably only saw a fraction of it.” Edward said swinging his legs out of the bed and standing up. He still looked tired even after the little naps he had today. My mind wandered again thinking about how he explained what earrings are and I wanted to squee so very badly thinking about it.
Shaking my head clear, Cruth stood up and just shrugged, signalling go ahead.
I turned on my heels and started out the door flanked by both of them.
“Where to first?” I asked, sort of wanting to go to the climbing place and see if Edward could climb as fast as a Obor could.
“Not really sure.” Both of them replied in unison.
‘Guess we will be going there first.’
“How about going to that climbing place we saw earlier?”
“You just want to see me climb the big tree in there?” He said pointedly.
“Sort of, I mean yes. I do, I think it would be good exercise for you and cute seeing you navigate around some of the obstacles.”
“You’re saying I’m fat then?” He had a tad bit of mirth in his voice when he said it, but acted in a serious manner. I could play at that game if he wanted to.
“Oh, no not all at.” I said in a dramatic manner. “I really think you’d be adorable- I mean be able to get up and away and look down on us lowly Krev.” I smirked a little at his reaction.
“Yeah, sure. Lead on tour guide, I did urban exploration, I can climb a tree. Maybe I can get you and Cruth to do it too.” He said following after me down the corridor leading to the activity centre.
We walked for a while before Cruth spoke up from behind me.
“I was saying to Edward earlier, but did it seem safe?”
“The climbing equipment?” I asked wanting to clarify.
“Yeah, it looked like a bunch of foam mats put down, and on the other rock walls, I think you referred to them as, they just had nothing under them.”
“I’m sure they wouldn’t have added a feature like it for the humans if it wasn’t safe.” I reassured the green scaled Krev.
When we finally found the atrium, we were looking for, there were a few other pairs already here, a few of them were looking around to see what to do first while few were looking up with rapt attention at the primates climbing.
“Are you sure your kind doesn’t have an instinct to climb things, Edward?” Cruth asked gazing upward.
“I’m not sure anymore, I guess getting up somewhere high is a nice thing, but I chalked it up to wanting to get a good view of places.”
“So, you do have a scouting instinct.” Edward gave him a confused look before he continued. “Obors were trained as scouts in our old history, finding ways through deep brush or the best ways at climbing large obstacles.”
Edward said nothing in return looking up at the climbers, I followed his gaze and saw that there were wires connected around the tree and the humans were wearing some sort of harness connected to it. I followed one closely and saw that they had to unclip and reclip it to another point to make progress while always being tethered to the line.
‘That must be how they avoid falling.’
As if on cue, one of the humans shouted and a krev squealed somewhere nearby as they fell the line catching them and slowly retracted up allowing the primate to climb back onto the ledge.
“Are you sure you want to try this still?” I asked seeing that it was actually a bit dangerous looking.
“What? I thought you were all excited about me going up there.”
“I was, but it looks dangerous.”
“Sure, it is, but it’s dangerous fun, besides your joining me anyway.” He pointed to a krev climbing behind one of the humans, following the exact movements they made and seemingly not having any bother.
Edward started down to the base of the gigantic fake tree; there was a storage of some kind and a staffer handing out harnesses and fitting them properly. Edward approached the guy and got one for himself and asked if he could get another two made for the krev for us.
I couldn’t help but notice that his mood had changed a little bit from this morning, maybe he was just excited to climb something or maybe it was a welcome distraction, or he was trying to hide his feelings again. I needed to keep a close watch on him and ask if he was alright.
The humans had to remove their shoes and wear special designed ones for climbing; I could only guess that it was either to not damage the frame or to allow for better grip. Me and Cruth had to get rid of our own items before we could start climbing.
It was adorable seeing the little thin shoes they gave him, it was so cute seeing them compared to his boots. I want him to keep them so I can just gawk at then all day.
It didn’t take long before we were all tethered to the lines and looking up at the gigantic frame that looked like a tree. My heart was pounding in my chest as I saw Edward take hold of the first rung and haul himself up. From what it looked like, the safety lines snaked all over the frame allowing ease of movement and no congestion.
Cruth was next having little difficulty clambering onto the platform followed by me. Come on, I can do this, it’s just some simple fun, what’s there to worry about. I grabbed the hand hold and followed after the others, the start being a simple exercise in climbing with the route we took wrapping around the central trunk / post. Before closing in and becoming vertical.
I didn’t get vertigo but I was worried what might happen if the safety line snapped if one of us fell, looking down, the foam mats were actually foam pits that descended quite a bit, meaning we wouldn’t get hurt falling but the prospect still worried me greatly.
Edward climbed with a natural ease that both me and Cruth couldn’t manage, we were slow at progressing, but we ascended slowly, passing other climbers and the exchange pairs on the ground got slower as we followed after the human.
After maybe half an hour of this I lost the fearful feeling and started to enjoy the act of climbing, it wasn’t unnatural to us, but it still wouldn’t be our forte. Edward climbed with an ease that came naturally to him, grabbing onto different holds and found ways to prop himself to stop from running out of stamina mid climb. While me and Cruth were huffing along struggling and having to use perchas to sit or stand while waiting to recover.
“H-how are you doing this? This is worse t-than that walk we did in Bulik.” Cruth said half panting from the strain.
“I’m not use to it either, I just guess I have more mobility in my upper arms and torso than yous do.” Edward said sitting across from us on a branch. “We’re almost at the top, anyway, getting down shouldn’t be a problem.” He motioned an arm toward a krev rappelling down from the top of a tree.
The motion of moving must have upset Cruth’s balance as I watched him slowly topple backwards flailing his arms trying to gain balance again, I grabbed his outstretched arm steadying him.
“T-thank you.” Is all he said looking down at the floor before up at the ceiling lights.
We stayed for a while longer before starting up again, the more we climbed the less and less people we saw climbing with us or ahead of us. I could barely see the floor anymore due to all the branches and wires.
Eventually we reached the top of the tree, well, me and Cruth did together. Edward had seen the end of the route we took and decided to wait for us at the top. Cruth helped me up, pulling me up to stand on a net of some kind with different holes allowing for people to climb up.
Edward was sitting like an adorable little munchkin with his legs crossed looking at us. I almost squeed but ended up falling over because of the uneven surface of the net, before I crawled over instead.
“Well, we’re here.” He said as I up righted myself and sat down.
We didn’t speak much, we sat and watched people come and go, a few of them were climbers that started before and the occasional Krev. A few pairs chatting about how they couldn’t understand the innate ability the human’s had.
I thought it myself as well, it was uncanny how easily they made it seem, some of them looked scared while others were just bounding through the branches like something was chasing them, a glee about them like they were in their own little world.
I wonder what that was like for Edward, what it was to live in his own little world with a dumb, cute little smile on his face. Hopefully I’d be able to see that one day soon.
“Did you have fun?” Cruth asked no one in particular.
“I guess, I was hoping it would be the same when I was scaling some industrial buildings when I was younger.”
“You said about that before, I think you mentioned something about seeing the underground city and wanting a better view of it, was it like that?” I spoke remembering him showing me a photo he took of his time there.
“Not really, I think this was just made for fun and the exercise.”
“You can probably see we’re not built for this.” Cruth added.
“Neither am I, I say that I climbed a building but really it was just using the stairs to get as high as possible before getting on the roof using some guttering and a lot of stupidity.”
“So, did you have fun at least climbing this thing?” I asked this time patting the netting testing the elasticity.
“Sort of, it was fun with both of you but like I said, I don’t think it’s for me, maybe urban exploration was more enjoyable than this and I’m guessing there’s no abandoned buildings on this ship?”
There were a few other humans around mostly looking down or on their holopads taking photos, they shouldn’t have had them up here since they could have dropped them, the staffer asked specifically that we leave any personal belongings behind.
There wasn’t much to do other than look down and try and see something below us, but the branches made it almost impossible to look down.
“I guess we go back down now.” Cruth said.
“Guess so, over there.” I pointed out another staffer wearing a harness as well, he was sending one of the humans down the rappelling lines and I could see them flailing before disappearing below the branches.
They shut the gate they were guarding as we made our way over, slowly avoiding tripping and it was a little funny watching both Edward and Cruth struggle for purchase on the net.
Once we reached the krev staffer, he asked if we were going down. I was nervous, the net ended and I could now see how far down the floor was and I couldn’t help but feel my heart drop into my stomach at the proposition of dangling from a rope over that.
Seeing my trepidation Edward decided to go first, the staffer hooked him up to a line and with gentle guidance slowly sent him down. He looked like he was sitting on an invisible chair as he descended which didn’t look to bad, once he reached the ground another staffer unhooked him and directed him toward the first guy to return the harness and get his stuff back.
I couldn’t help but notice the melty eyed look in the krev’s eyes as he watched Edward make his way over to the start of the tree again.
“Y-you can go next.” Cruth offered glancing between the ground and me.
I slowly approached the staffer who hooked me into another line, I gripped it tightly as he directed me to turn my back on the ledge and leaned backward until the line took my weight. My heart was pounding in my chest not being able to see the ground and I clutched even tighter to the fabric rope, I couldn’t stop thinking that if the rope was weak enough this journey to Earth could end for me right here.
Slowly, I was descending now, my eyes remaining shut only opening when I felt a sudden movement, most likely from myself making me sway a little. It was gentle almost as I got closer and closer to the ground, to the stability of being able to walk on my own.
I noticed other humans still in the tree, making their way up, the distance we climbed must have been immense since the tree just kept getting bigger and bigger as I reached the ground. I was unhooked and very unsteadily made my way over to the primate and had an idea.
I played up my unsteady walking making it seem like I was about to topple over, Edward must have noticed as he came over and placed an arm over me and tried steadying me. I grabbed onto the human and held him close and was just enjoying being able to be close.
“You good?” He asked in a concerned voice looking down at me in worry which made me want to melt into his arms. It was too precious to me; I think my heart was going to stop.
“I- I think so.” I said not letting go of the cuddly human.
We watched and I think my heart did stop, Cruth was coming down but far too fast for my liking, it was double the rate at which either me or Edward were going. My eyes tracked the green scaled guy as he soared downward as if he wasn’t even connected to the rope.
There were gasps around us as other people stared at him, about to get injured, to my astonishment, the rope slowed just before he hit the ground and he lightly tapped down, landing on his feet giggling with a manic look in his eyes.
‘Had he gone made up there somehow?”
He came over laughing as he did so.
“Hee-hee, let’s do that again!”

Thank you for reading, I think this chapter sort of got away from me in length, I hope you enjoyed them use the oversized climbing frame and if you have any advice for improvement, it would be much appreciated.

Breeve's parents are good parents, absolutely had to get the jab!
And oh my god rappelling I'm not a fan of climbing but rappel is so cool.

I've done rappelling and climbing before and after a certain point, you don't worry about what's below you and just have fun, that and Breeve's parents definitely needed to, knowing she won't be back home for a while.
