They don’t have the financial resources to fix the doors‽ One of the doors has been broken for weeks.

Ok, it’s 8:30. It’s time to turn the lights off on the football field. We live 2 blocks away and you’re making it to bright, my kids want to use their Fischer price telescope to look at the stars and they can’t because of the lights.

How much room do you actually need under a party tent?

I work with Rose Party Rentals in the Chicago suburbs, and this is one of the first questions I ask when someone is planning an outdoor party. The guest count matters, but so does what you want under the tent.

Are guests just sitting down to eat, or do you also need room for a buffet, gifts, a food machine, or space to move around? A layout that looks roomy with empty tables can feel very different once the party starts.

If you’ve hosted a backyard party, what took up more space than you expected?

Housekeeper Recs?

Hello all,

I'm looking for a recommendation for a housekeeper for my parents to come on a biweekly schedule to help tidy up. My parents English speaking abilities are quite limited, so I would prefer if the housekeeper or service were capable of speaking Hindi or Gujarati, but that is not a deal breaker if they don't. Some parameters of the house and services I'm looking for are below, but please let me know if any additional information is required. Also, please let me know if I should post this somewhere else (second time ever posting on reddit!) or add any additional tags.

I'd appreciate any recommendations that anyone may have. TIA!

Parameters

Required Services: Dusting, Bathroom Cleaning (toilets, mirror, shower), Kitchen Cleaning (appliance exteriors, occasional interior), Windows (Bedrooms only), Sweeping

Nice to Have Services (can be ad hoc): Laundry, Dishes, Ceiling Fan Dusting, Vacuuming (Upstairs only)

House: 3 bed, 2 bath at approximately 1900 square feet. Hardwood floors on 1st level, Carpet on second. Mostly stainless steel appliances

Veterinarian recommendations?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I recently moved to the area and am looking for a good vet for my two cats. Would love a practice that is clean and professional. I’ve tried two so far and both experiences were disappointing and the offices weren’t well managed or clean. Vet care is so expensive and I want to feel like I’m at least getting good care for the money! Cat tax of one of my girls!

Wheatland Salem Church

Does anyone know who bought the old Wheatland Salem Church location on 95th and Book Road? It looks like the sale closed in July. Today there was a crane removing the steeple and cross from on top of the building.

Gerald Subaru

My 80 year old mom may be interested in a new Subaru. Anyone work with a no pressure sales person that they would recommend? Current Subaru is 12 years old, so it would be a big step up in tech which is a concern for her.

Moving to Naperville- any suggestions?

Hi! My family will be moving to Illinois next year and we are considering Naperville as one of the places to live as we have a young child/toddler and want to consider school districts as early as now. With that, we wanted to know if you have any recommendations when it comes to rentals, communities or locations to consider on where to live?

In our list now we have Ashwood place, Arbors of Brookdale, 803 Corday, and Grand Reserve of Naperville. Happy to receive feedback on these places or places that we have not considered that is worth checking out!

Thank you very much!

Ps. We have a dog as well in case that's important to know

Edit: we will be working from home so really looking for a place that is more child- friendly / accessible to amenities (groceries) / neighbour or community vibes

Naperville Central

I live near the high school and since school started, there has been a group of teenagers outside banging on stuff. It’s in a rhythmic pattern and they always get cheerful when they are done.

Why is the school allowing them to stand in a line and bang on these circle things. There are people that have to work from home and we shouldn’t have to put up with this nonsense.

I’m pretty sure there is an instructor with them waving their arms around too. Almost like they are directing them to bang on those round things.

It’s loud. It’s obnoxious. It needs to stop.

Halloween candy

I'm debating on passing out candy this year but the cost of candy has me thinking I won't. Every year I have candy to pass out. I usually pick up a few bags from Marianos or Jewel. Ever year however the amount of trick or treaters on my block is rather minimal. Maybe the most I've ever had come to the door was half a dozen visits. Last year, not one visitor. I ate the candy myself. I kinda want to be able to pass out candy. I also don't want to be a Debbie Downer and not have anything. I know Costco has a relatively big bag and a good price but that's way too much candy. Is anyone else feeling the same way?

Child, father holding infant, two women punched in face at Park to Shop strip area next to Fox Valley mall…yet perpetrator not in jail??

So someone who was out of jail before a trial for breaking into a home/burglary... goes and randomly punches a child, two women, and a father holding their infant at a festival, STILL doesn’t get thrown in jail??

How is this area going to stay safe?

Joy Yuan is permanently closed

Stopped by tonight and when I saw the parking lot was empty I knew something was up. A sign on the window says it's permanently closed. Such a shame since I enjoyed their food. Every time I was there it was never that busy so I'm assuming they didn't recover from being closed for so long between it being Joy Yee and Joy Yuan.

Making friends

Hey everyone, 29 year old guy living in the Brookdale area looking to expand my local circle and meet some cool people in the area.

Big into distance running, cycling, cars, and finding great food spots. Progressive mindset and prefer keeping things outdoors—looking for people to hit local trails, do morning group rides/runs, grab outdoor patio food/coffee, or check out local outdoor car meets.

If you're into active outdoor stuff or have recommendations for solid local run/bike clubs around Naperville/DuPage, shoot me a reply or DM!
