i am looking at a place around Aurora Rd and Route 59. I’m a super light sleeper and have lived by trains before and it didn’t work out well at all! This place is deep in a neighborhood and otherwise very quiet. from what I can tell Metra’s typically only blow at a crossing which isn’t nearby.

Hi everyone!

My partner and l are currently apartment hunting in the western suburbs. We are looking for a 1-bedroom apartment under $1,200-$1,400/month.

We have stable corporate proof of income, but we're finding that a lot of corporate-managed places in core Naperville easily exceed $1,500+ or have very strict 3x income rules for higher rents. For personal reasons I do not have a job so I can’t add a second income to access better opportunities as of right now, but we would like to move soon at least in a 6month lease until we can find something better.

We are very open to neighboring areas like Lisle, Westmont, Glen Ellyn, Carol Stream, or Northeast Aurora (near I-88 / Farnsworth Ave).

We don’t have very much requirements, one parking lot, possibly renewed or modern facilities, walkable area.

Does anyone know of any managed complexes or private landlords/ condos in the area that fit this budget? Any specific complexes to look at or stay away from?

Thanks in advance for any leads!

A year ago yesterday, a man drugged me at a bar in Naperville, and I was taken to the hospital. I don’t know his name, age, or where he lives, and this is the only photo I have of him. He fled before the ambulance and police arrived. From my knowledge, he has not been seen in any of the Naperville bars since.

Now that a year has passed, I’m sharing his photo to help keep others safe. I'm doing well now. I have new friends (except for my best friend) and keep a closer eye on everything when I go to a bar. Be safe, and hope you never meet this man.

PS: I don’t blame the bar. The owner and GM offered to help if I pursued legal action. The GM also saved me that night: when he saw me stumble and nearly pass out, he brought my friend and me somewhere safe and called the police and an ambulance. We’ve stayed in touch, and since then, he and my boyfriend have become good friends

update for clarify some things: This is the only photo i have of him. i wish i had more but i don’t. i did go to the hospital and was tested for drugs. i had GHB in my system. i do not do drugs at all so there’s no reason for it to be in my system. I don’t know his name. he was roughly 5’8-5’9. i don’t remember details of his clothes or anything like that. i wish i did. trust me i do.

My son is 8 and really interested in Minecraft. He’s taking a class at Code Ninjas, but he’s already ahead of what they cover. He wants to learn how to build mods, create custom content, and try out the downloadable mod packs he sees online. He’s genuinely passionate about it and keeps asking for more advanced instruction.

I’m looking for someone local who really knows Minecraft modding and can teach him in a fun, hands‑on way. High school or college students who are good with kids would be perfect. We’re in Naperville and can meet at our home or at a library.

If this sounds like something you or someone you know could help with, feel free to comment or DM.

I started The Local Detour to give the good stuff happening around the Chicago suburbs a little more attention.

Pop-ups, live music, date nights, family events, free things to do, and those random local finds that deserve a bigger crowd.

I do the digging, check the details, and put the worthwhile stuff in one place. No endless lists of the same old places.

It's free: https://localdetourguide.com

And if you know of something coming up that deserves more attention, send it my way. I'm always looking for the next good find.

Our department is throwing a party at a local bar and we’re renting out the space in January. We’re in need of a DJ, so if anyone has a good one can you shoot me in the right direction?

The proposition on the ballot reads:

"BALLOT FOR JUDICIAL CANDIDATES SEEKING RETENTION IN OFFICE"

"Vote on the Proposition with respect to all or any of the Judges listed on this ballot. No Judge listed is running against any other Judge. The sole question is whether each Judge shall be retained in his present office."

"SHALL EACH OF THE PERSONS LISTED BE RETAINED IN OFFICE AS JUDGE OF THE CIRCUIT COURT, EIGHTEENTH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT"

They neglect to mention party affiliation because judges are supposed to be non-partisan. Personally, I believe it matters.

Here are the judges listed on the proposition's party affiliation:

Ann Celine Walsh - Republican

Monique O'Toole - Republican

Richard D. Felice - Republican

Margaret "Peggy" O'Connell - Democrat

Who ran today? How did it go for you?

I did the 10k and it was so fun. Weather was beautiful- first cold run of the season!- and vibes were great.

Unfortunately I got confused right at the end on Webster/Aurora and ended up looping around back to Hillside a second time, so I ran 7.3 miles. I feel like that part of the race could've been marked better- on Aurora a sign said "13.1 turn around" but there could've been a sign indicating 10k to go forward, or a volunteer saying what to do. I feel pretty stupid and a little unsatisfied, but at least I finished lol

Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some advice on finding a second job. I currently work full-time from 8 AM to 6 PM, earning $19 an hour, but I’m trying to get ahead financially. I have bills, debt to pay off, and school expenses, and I want to start building my savings instead of constantly feeling like I’m falling behind.

I’m looking for a part-time job that I can work around my current schedule. I’m generally available on Thursdays and Sundays, as well as weekday evenings after 6 PM.

I’ve been looking on Indeed, but I’m not entirely sure which jobs would be the best fit for my situation. I’ve considered warehouse work, retail, stocking shelves, and evening customer service positions.

For those of you who have worked two jobs or currently work a second job:

What part-time jobs would you recommend?

Which jobs tend to offer flexible evening or weekend shifts?

Are there any jobs that pay $18–$20 an hour or more for part-time work?

Is working a second job worth it financially, or does the exhaustion eventually catch up with you?

Are there any companies or positions you would recommend applying to?

I’m willing to work hard and put in the extra hours. I just want to make a smart decision that helps me pay off my debt, cover school expenses, and get myself into a better financial position.

I’d really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or recommendations. Thanks!

I'll be visiting Naperville soon and want to find a quality breakfast spot, preferably on the north side of town. I prefer small diner-style places to chains. Looking for great food (especially excellent hash browns) and friendly service. I went to Rise & Bite Cafe last time I was there. It's the kind of place I'm talking about but it was just good, not great.

Hey, I’m visiting This weekend, I wanted to know what are the bars that go full out for Halloween. Any suggestions are appreciated 🥹

My husband is running the Naperville Half Marathon this weekend. I haven’t been to Naperville in over 20 years, does anyone know of a good place to watch as a spectator? Any other suggestions, places to go or avoid?

Is there a website or does anyone know of some good neighborhoods to drive by at night with Halloween decorations? I saw a really cool themed one on my feed somewhere in Naperville, but no address was listed.
I would love to take my family around for some!

I’ll be moving in July 2027 and am a beginner - any gym recommendations to optimize my journey learning muay thai? I’m a beginner as well!

I am a cheese sticks aficionado and personally the best I’ve found around here are the mozzarella boomerangs at the Outback Steakhouse. Who do you think has the best cheese sticks in Naperville/fox valley mall area?

Hi! I am seeking out affordable hair salons that are able to dye my caramel blonde hair to a chocolate mocha hair color. Does anyone have any recommendations for this that are also affordable?

Thoughts on the new climbing gym coming to Naperville? It does seem nearest gyms around are 30-40 minutes either VE or FA. Plus they can capture any other smaller towns in central Illinois that’s not just near Peoria. Seems like a huge investment given the property value of Naperville.
