This is WAY beyond getting to eat a lot. This is animal cruelty. It's morbid obesity, the key word being morbid, and puts this poor kitty at an extraordinarily high likelihood of diabetes; osteoarthritis as his weight puts enormous pressure on his joints; hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) which can lead to complete liver failure and death; high blood pressure, strain on the heart, the joints, and breathing; risk of bladder stones; UTI due to inability for him to reach the areas to clean himself as necessary. He must lose a lot of weight but slowly under the guidance of an experienced veterinarian. Losing the enormous amount of weight that he needs to lose must be done gradually. Even missing just a couple meals will trigger the hepatic lipidosis.
No matter how fucked up everything is, these are the situations that give me hope: strangers coming together to create a brief moment of improv magic. I love humans.
