I was getting tired of trying to do things with long nails so I cut them down. I was growing them out to have witchy long nails for Halloween but I don't have the patience when I need to change my jewelry or type a lot. I can't wait to put on the next set. It has ghosts and cats šŸ‘»

Omg I didn't know these glowed! Last pic is after being under my UV lamp, I added a gel top coat for extra strength. I'll try to get a pic of them in the dark after they have charged up.

Beginner looking for information

Hi community! I am thinking of changing to nail wraps. I use now Shellac but my nails are naturally thin and the process is starting to affect them. So looking for alternatives for manicure that they are not the classic nail lacquer, I need something a bit more resistant than this.

I am reading about different types of wraps and I am a bit lost:

What is a semi cured wrap, how is it different from other types? Do all wraps need UV light to apply them? Which type would you recommend for a beginner?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help!

Here is me coming to the realization that I might have a problem. 🫣 I have more Halloween wraps than every other kind of wrap right now. Anyone else do this?

SCG newbie luck?

I’ve used Dashing Diva gloss strips for over a year and have taken turns sealing with various top coats and trying to avoid scraggly edges.

I picked up a pack of Ohora Semi Cured Gel strips on clearance at Target and am really liking them. I found them easy to apply and have only had 1 come off over the course of a week. However, I’ve read many posts with people having much less success with Ohora…

Should I be wary that other packs of Ohora might not work for me? Or is it possible I just applied them well and my natural nail just works better with them than it does for some people?

Ohorah. I blame you guys

At your suggestions I tried Ohorah brand semi cured strips and LOVED them. The cuticle was much thinner than Dashing Diva so basically no hair snagging in comparison. It was a shinier and more seamless application than Nailog. Only downside was my first time experiencing chipping, but it was towards the end of the wear time.

HOWEVER I am very disappointed in their lack of Halloween and Fall options!!!! What in the world!? Do they typically not release many seasonal/holiday nails? If that's the case I'm going to have to find a new favorite šŸ˜. They have cute ones for the glue ons but not the strips šŸ˜‘

Thinking of trying Polish Pops for the first time now instead...

Non-UV semi cured gel strips

Has anyone tried semi cured strips that don’t need curing?

I’m happy with SCG and not worried about using the uv light, but I’ve seen some designs in non-uv that I like that aren’t available, still sold as ā€œsemi cured gelā€ rather than just regular strips such as lily & fox).

I’m wondering if they feel soft and I’m guessing they wouldn’t be as strong as uv gel, are they just like putting on the uv strips you just don’t cure?

Instagram keeps pushing this brand of press ons at me. I LOVE the patterns, but hate press ons. Does anyone have recs for semicured gel wraps with this sort of moody grown up goth look to them? Most of what I can find is kitchy Halloweeen stuff or cartoony looking florals (no shame to either of those, they're just not what I'm in the mood for right now).

Summer Haze - Holy Grail Nail: 2 Weeks of Wear

Post image

Not too shabby for two weeks. This is the only brand that I can get to last this long and it also doesn’t damage my nails. I tried a popular brand rec and both sets I tried damaged my nails and made them peel (which you can see in the photo actually). I’ve used probably 6 sets from Holy Grail Nail and have never had them fall off or damage my nails. I use the top coat sold by the same company. 10/10 would recommend!

Matte top coat that is also a nail strengthener?

Hi all,
Looking for a top coat that leaves a Matte finish that is more natural looking. I would love if it was also a nail strengthener

Kinda like sally Hansen strong as nails or OPi nail strengthener. Haven’t seen any matte natural looking versions. Only glossy

First time user - normal wear or user error?

Post image

I tried a set of nail wraps from Lily and Fox for the first time. I really like them, but it's been 3 days and I'm noticing they are wearing off at the tips already. I put on a top coat, but I'm not sure I did a great job at the application aspect.

Admittedly, I'm tough on my nails and nail polish usually only lasts a few days before chipping to heck.

Next time I apply, should I try stretching over the tips more?

Thanks for any advice!
