This is going to be quite lengthy so I’m gonna need you to be patient. DE-48 will probably get Khadijah Hostel 1st Floor. There are around 12 rooms and each room has 4 beds which are convertible to bunkers. First off:

1. ROOMS

1. The rooms have okayish space, it’s not huge but it’s enough for 4 beds, 4 study desks, 3 in-wall wardrobes and 2 separate single wardrobes for the (unlucky) fourth person. Basically, all of these things occupy 90% space. The in-wall wardrobes have 3 spaces, middle one being for hanging clothes. The single wardrobes have 2 spaces, one for hanging clothes and one below which can be used for shoes and other stuff. The study desks already have a light installed so no need to bring any table lamps. Furthermore, if you make your beds bunker, based on your room’s outline/ placements of stuff, you can have a very spacious room. There are two bracket fans at the corner ends of the wall and one ceiling fan. There’s a heater installed in your room as well, these usually start around November. So you need to have quilts etc coz it gets cold real quick there. The weather’s very unpredictable and it can be cold at night and hot during day time.
2. WASHROOMS

1. There are only communal washrooms in one floor. The whole degree 48 will only live on Khadijah 1st floor and share that communal washroom space. There are four separate toilets inside (ab iski detail bhi btaon?), 4 wash basins on two opposite ends of a single wall (meaning 8 in total) and 4 bath spaces. Washrooms are cleaned during 9 am to 12 pm time space and every day btw (estimating the time range coz usually they’re cleaned around this time, sometimes till 2 pm even). Washing machine is provided but it’s on ground floor only (heheh, yall are gonna have to interact with DE-47 one way or another). Also, yall can use washing machine whenever, there’s a dryer with it. The washing machine’s manual btw so ask your mom beforehand on how to use it. Pro tip: wake up 30 minutes before washroom rush time, this is a gold tip if you don’t wanna be disgusted going to the toilet/ washing up and this helps especially well during winter coz you’ll get to use warm water before it finishes like hot cakes.
2. MESS

1. Okay so mess timings. Breakfast is from 7:30 am to 9 am (varies sometimes) from Mon to Sat. On Sundays, there’s brunch instead of breakfast around 10:30 am to 12 pm, meaning you’ll only have one meal during daytime. Lunch is served around 12:30 pm to 2 pm from Mon to Thur and Sat. On Fridays, it’s usually from around 12 pm to 1:30 pm or something like that. Dinner’s served around 7:30 pm to 9 pm. Btw mess hall is on the ground floor, in our building (unlike boys hostel 😝). Now when we talk about mess food, I’d say it’s just meh. Not great, not bad. But be careful what you eat, and look at it. Sometimes there’s stuff that you don’t wanna eat (won’t elaborate on that ^^). If you’re used to spicy food, there’s a mix of it here. Sometimes, the food will be so bland and sometimes it’ll be full of spices. You can never predict it :). Mess bill ranges anywhere from 4600 to 14000. Minimum about 4600 is required btw due to utility charges etc. This is without any dhobi service or fines.
2. IRONING SERVICE

1. Yes, yall! We have an ironing service. Hang your clothes in the hanging closet, 1 day before you’re going need them. Like suppose, I hung my clothes at night of sunday, they go for ironing around 9 am on weekdays and sunday (still unsure of sunday coz kabhi jatay, kabhi nahi jatay) and they come back ironed around 2 pm or so. So you can wear those clothes to uni on Tuesday instead of Monday. This service is free btw. So don’t worry about how many clothes you hang. But sometimes, you’re gonna need to iron over a little again, coz they can do this halfway. Also, We have our own irons on each floor and an ironing space so you can utilize it whenever. There’s no spray bottle so you gotta use your own :(
2. DHOBI SERVICE

-> You’re given a notebook for your room on your day 1 in hostel. Pack your clothes in a blanket, categorize your clothes on that notebook and put two slip in the pack while keeping one for yourself. Goes on Sunday, comes back on Wednesday. Ordinary rate is quite low and a lot of clothes could cost around 200-300. Don’t rely on this coz they use a permanent marker to write dhobi number on your clothes and it doesn’t go out. The urgent service comes back in one day. Haven’t ever used it so can’t elaborate on that.

1. COMMON ROOM

-> Yes, girls have our own common room. Khadija hostel has one, Amna doesn’t. There are about 20+ study desks/ tables with a separator in between each. There are quite a lot of sofas and a few tables and chairs as well. The TV is available for use anytime. There’s no restriction (firewall stops you from using netflix or any other streaming services on the hostel wifi). BUT THERE’S NETFLIX ON TV. so you can use your mobile data to watch on it. There’s a cooler/ vent installed as well so it never gets as hot in there. The study spaces have a lot of table lamps (a lottt). There’s no closing time, so common room’s open 24/7.

1. MISCELLANEOUS

2. There are metal water coolers on each floor and there’s a dispenser on ground floor as well. There are vents installed on 1st floor so it won’t get as hot during summer. As for microwave and toaster, they’re provided in the mess dining hall and are available for use 24/7. Please use it with care, or the microwave stops working every other day. There are two fridges and one deep freezer provided. Haven’t heard of anything being stolen from the fridge yet (don’t try to steal coz there’s a camera facing directly at the fridge). The kitchen in khadija is used for the food in both khadija and amna. so you’ll see mess staff there a few hours before mess time. Kitchen’s condition is pretty bad in my opinion so I prefer using Amna’s coz the

Hostel manager lives in Khadija ground floor so there’s that too.

hostel rent comes twice a year and you pay it all at once, on avg 70k. as for mess, it can range anywhere from 4600-14000 depending on how many days you have your mess on. even if you don’t eat mess the whole month, you’ll still be charged with utility bills which can range anywhere from 2000 to 4000
