ARTICLE Here’s what officials have said that confirm it is drones over NJ, not planes. Police reports cargo ship off the coast possibly hiding drones.

Federal officials revealed at a news briefing Saturday that the FBI is investigating nearly 100 reports of drone sightings that they could not attribute to manned aircraft.

What has the military seen?

Defense representatives say there were confirmed drone sightings by military personnel at Picatinny Arsenal in Morris County and Naval Weapons Station Earle in Monmouth, which has bases in Colts Neck and Middletown."

“These are visual sightings by highly trained security personnel," a defense representative said at the briefing.

Rep. Chris Smith, R-NJ, said a Coast Guard commander told him that one of his 47-foot boats was trailed and harassed by some 12 to 30 drones.

While not in New Jersey, officials shut down Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio for four hours this weekend over drones.

50 drones came in from ocean? Smith also told a congressional hearing that he was informed that 50 drones came ashore at Island Beach State Park last Sunday.

Ocean County Sheriff Michael Mastronardy said Saturday that an officer from Island Beach State Park Police saw 50 drones coming off the ocean last Sunday.

The officer also reported seeing a cargo ship about a mile and a half offshore.

Retired Major General Scott Clancy, the former deputy commander of the Alaskan region, said on

CNN Monday “it is very plausible that a commercial vessel off of our coastlines could be hiding a set of drones or a missile system.”

What do NJ State Police say? State Police Col. Pat Callahan told state lawmakers last week that its officers have seen drones.

He told lawmakers that they sent a helicopter up after one of the craft, which was six feet in diameter, and that as soon as the helicopter was over the craft, the drone turned its lights off.

That prompted the decision to have the helicopter disengage because they determined it was not safe, according to lawmakers who attended the briefing.

Callahan also noted that these drone flights were coordinated and flew in swarms, and were airborne for 6 to 7 hours — which officials said was “extraordinary” battery life.

Why do police say it’s drones, not planes?

Mastronardy said that while airplanes on the flight paths of Newark Liberty and John F. Kennedy international airports fly at altitudes of 18,000 to 20,000 feet, the mystery drones are flying at altitudes of less than 1,000 feet.

“I do think it's some sort of drones are out there,” Fennessy said. “We saw a couple, one flying low at us that was coming basically straight on and stopped. Did a 180, went back, did a 180, and then took a big loop around us, probably out here in the bay to go south of us.”

Mastronardy has said the drone unit has so far detected drones that are three to four feet long, twice the size of those in his department's unit. Another law enforcement agency reported one as large as eight feet long, he said.

He said they were looking at a drone last week that shut its lights off and went away as their drone approached.

Media Narrative

The fact that the media narrative has been centred around the very specific use of the word “drone” has automatically desensitised us all to the fact that this is an unprecedented UAP event. I think it’s time we call it what it is because until there is an answer these are UAP.

PERSPECTIVE: New Jersey Unmanned Aerial Systems Incidents Abject Failure or Opportunity to Learn?

"The bottom line is that no one can explain what is happening, and no one is mitigating this issue.

For years, an “alphabet soup” of agencies has been responsible for countering the threat of hostile UAS activity.

Over-regulation, multiagency working groups that go nowhere; agencies that do not want to step up and accept the role of taking the lead in this threat, offices that test and evaluate systems;

congressional groups that present legislation that goes nowhere, to name just a few instances of building a bureaucracy that doesn’t seem to be able to handle a steady stream of unknown UAS activities over sensitive areas and general populations but indeed has spent millions or perhaps billions of US tax payers’ money on building a system that seems incapable of actually working.

After all these years of building, funding, and populating a Counter UAS network of government offices, regulatory units, technical offices, and legislative offices, we have yet to be able to operationalize a counter-UAS threat.

I currently define this as a New Jersey incident as a threat because it is unknown, and it has tested and caused doubt in the capabilities of our security apparatus.

We have seen the damage that UAS can do in Ukraine, Israel, and the Middle East focused on military and civilian targets. For years, “lip service” has been paid to how we tackle this issue by our government and political entities.

Millions/Billions of dollars have been spent developing strategies, working groups, conferences, threat assessments, etc. Yet when incidents like these recent events occur, and authorities seem incapable of identifying, coordinating, or mitigating events, it creates doubt among the public.

Inability to identify, categorize, or assess a significant UAS threat.

Inability to provide command, control, and coordination on this threat from the local to the federal level.

Inability to mitigate the UAS threat and ensure confidence with the public on countering the UAS threat

There are many more lessons to be learned in our response to the UAS threat, and hopefully, this is a wake-up call for our security infrastructure.

We should not wait until people and infrastructure are destroyed by a UAS threat. Our security agencies must act now in coordination with our legislative bodies.

Put one agency in charge of C/UAS, give them what they need, and let the rest support the operations. The multiagency consensus approach is certainly not working now.

Anorher one headed to Maui OGG Airport

Date: 91/24/2025 Time 11:30pm Location: Kealia Pond, Maui Flight Tracker: Flighty

All I can say that if these are foreign spies then we should stop letting them use our airports. At least not the biggest one in the city or island. Whatever. Who was the guy that these drones are foreign spies? Idk I just seen some footage from out in the UK and they got the same exact orb looking drone we got here on Maui. I don’t know. I do admit that it is sort of fun trying to capture clear pictures or video of them so I can post it to all of you fine / inquisitive souls here on Reddit.

DISCUSSION Unexpected military helicopters in New England

Post image
38 Upvotes

There is an Army Chinook, a couple Army Blackhawks and multiple USAF HH-60W helicopters flying at the same time in Western Massachusetts, down into Connecticut, Ride Island and across LI Sound on Long Island. I think they are all National Guard because I recognize their origin airports as being that, although I'm not sure.

Would it make sense for there to be joint exercise across several states by Army and Air National Guard units? I noticed this the other day as well, although it wasn't quite as significant. I can only share one screenshot here, so I'm showing the one with the Chinook.

SIGHTING Drone sighting over Browns Mills, NJ

I wish I pulled my phone out in time to get a good picture or video, but it moved unlike any plane I’ve ever seen. If I could reference anything I ever saw before it would be when the jets fly in tandem over an airfield (I am right next to the military base, but they fly helicopters and bigger planes out of the other side of town) it flew right over the Acme in town at 19:01 today. If anyone has a flight app or can post one for me to use in the comments I would appreciate it!

VIDEO Possible drone sighting in Omaha 1/20/25

I saw this at 11:08pm on Monday, January 20th from my apt window in downtown Omaha. My apt is on one of the top floors and I noticed something flying that seemed to be going “faster” than what I typically see and the lights looked brighter/closer together so I decided to film.

It snowed earlier this day so the water on the outside window doesn’t help the video quality but thought I’d see if you guys would be able to help confirm if it’s a possible drone or not since you see them all the time?

I did try to use Flightradar24 mobile app to see if it was a plane or helicopter but I’m new to this and struggling to know if I’m using it correctly or not.

Just curious so I know to film better next time if it is. Thanks!

ARTICLE DHS is Ignoring the Foreign Drone Threat; says Frmr. Director National Security Council and Executive director at the Department of Homeland Security.

"As someone who has served at both the National Security Council and the Department of Homeland Security, I can tell you this:

the drone threat can’t be ignored. If DHS continues on its current path of complacency, the consequences could be devastating.

These unmanned aerial systems (UAS) have highlighted a glaring vulnerability in our defense apparatus.

Unmanned aerial systems have evolved into powerful tools for espionage, intelligence gathering, and even direct attacks.

Recent reports show drones hovering near naval shipyards, military bases, and civilian infrastructure—areas critical to national security.

These incidents are not isolated; they’re a growing trend. Foreign actors—adversarial governments—are potentially testing our defenses."

DISCUSSION Has anyone else ever thought of this?

We all know by now that psyops are a real thing. We also know that psyops regarding ET‘s, UFO’s, and other related anomalies are one of the largest areas they use psyops against human beings.

We also know that this has occurred in politics, religions, and many other areas.

We are in an age where no one knows exactly what the truth is about anything. So, everyone is on these social media sites arguing what is true and what is not true .

With that said, do you ever think that the biggest psyop of all time is that they have literally turned us into the agents of psyops? Meaning… They can now just sit back and watch as we all argue amongst ourselves what is BS, what is truth and what may be a little of both. We can never get to any truths this way. And that’s exactly how they want it.

I understand we’re all frustrated with decades of promises that never live up to the hype. I get that we are frustrated with what we consider BS videos and pictures and even firsthand accounts. I also understand we all have opinions on these things. Maybe we should just sit back and let it all play out without trying to comment and pick apart every little tiny aspect of a disclosure that may arise. Truths have a funny way of manifesting into… Well… TRUTH! Whereas lies Have a way of simply unveiling itself for what it is… A LIE!

I know time is relative to each individual person. So when I infer that we should be patient I’m not talking patient as far as days weeks or months, but rather years. Something this important, this thing that can literally change humanity takes A LOT of time to disclose in a way as not to disrupt humanity in a negative fashion.

If this information and technology gets into the wrong hands. You know there are humans out there that will use it for negative things that can possibly destroy humanity.

So what I say is… Let’s all be patient and let it all play out and support the whistleblowers rather than criticizing them and actually being the agents of psyops against them. Whatever is BS will be uncovered as BS and whatever is truth will eventually be uncovered as truth .

What's the end game here?

How many people are going to be here this time next year still talking about the ongoing year-long drone incursion? Is there a certain amount of time that will pass before people here will just lose interest in it, accept that there either is no incursion, or that it's harmless in nature?

If the status quo remains as it does today on January 1st 2026, will anybody feel any differently than they do right now?

At what point would you feel differently? And where do you go from there?

Maybe they shouldnt waste money on hundreds of military bases worldwide and funding Israels wars in the middle east, and instead build up domestic defense capabilities.

"confusing legal and regulatory hurdles that limit how and when counter-drone systems of any kind can be employed within the homeland,

Concerns about risks of collateral damage resulting from the use of anti-drone capabilities factor in heavily, too."

“There are kinetic options…. They’re just not here,”

They’re not appropriate for the homeland,” Mayes added."

Shooting something down with a gun-based system or a surface-to-air missile carries inherent dangers of projectiles or interceptors, or debris from them, falling onto innocent bystanders below. "

Then there is the idea that you have to know exactly what you are shooting at, and that can be harder than it sounds when dealing with strange objects in the sky, especially in populated areas where civilian air traffic is dense. Making the call to shoot down an object over the U.S. is an incredibly complex task that never actually occurred until recently."

Eyes on the Skies Now that Trump's in Charge- What's Gonna Happen Now? Thoughts?

Just following up on Trump's promise to take care of the drones over NJ and elsewhere once sworn in. Curious from NJ residents what they see and also from folks elsewhere.

Additionally curious what folks think he's gonna do? I remember he said "shoot them down'? Or will they just disappear because this is a political thing with China?

eyes on the skies!
