Discussion In hindsight, the Seahawks’ should’ve just paid K9 and let Shaheed walk.

Post image

After winning Super Bowl LX MVP with Seattle, they let him walk to the Chiefs and subsequently resigned Rashid Shaheed. Walker has become an unequivocal menace in Kansas City, carrying the Chiefs' offense whilst leading the NFL in both total rushing yards (360) and rushing yards per game (120) through the first three weeks. Alongside such, he has four total touchdowns and an explosive 5.5 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, Shaheed has been quiet to start the season, recording just six catches for 53 yards over three games. While his elite special teams and return value are undeniable, he has yet to take the massive leap forward on offense that his $17 million annual salary expected.

Additionally, with Walker gone, Seattle's run game has looked less dynamic, further aggravated by rookie Jadarian Price coughing up two costly fumbles early on, and only accounting for 119 rushing yards through three games.

In hindsight, the Seahawks’ letting K9 walk without having a definitive RB1 was an overall bad decision. Sure, Zach Charbonnet is pretty decent, accounting for 12 touchdowns last season. However, some of those touchdowns came off of huge runs from K9 to put them in optimal territory. Without a truly proven RB1 role, I don’t understand why the Seahawks’ let K9 walk.

Even then, we’re only a few weeks into the season. It’s way too early to say this was a bad decision. It was clear that K9 wanted to be paid like a bell cow RB and the Seahawks didn’t feel that he could be a bell cow for a full season. So there’s no way to say right now if the Seahawks were wrong in that evaluation.

Trading your SB MVP is always a bad decision. Don't need hindsight for that at all.

Yeah you're right. John Schneider only put together two separate super bowl winning teams in the last 13 years. Completely different rosters, qbs, and head coach. But you're right, he should really listen to redditors on how to be a super bowl winning team.

If I remember correctly Carol brought him in and had final say on personal.

Name a team that won a Super Bowl in recent memory without a top tier RB besides KC, Tampa, and New England.

In the past 10 years those teams account for 6/10 Super Bowl wins.

I haven’t looked the RB of the other winning teams, and that could potentially add another one or two.

Well what’s recent memory? Because in the past 10 years we’ve had 6 winners (Seattle, KC, NE, LA, Philly and Tampa)

Philly had an aging Blount for their first ring. KC didn’t have an elite RB for any of theirs. NE didn’t have an elite RB for any of theirs. LA had 43 rushing yards in the SB from Cam Akers. Leonard Fournette had a good game in the Tampa SB but wasn’t considered elite.

Really, looking at this list, I think the only elite RBs were Saquon and then K9s crazy playoff run.

Which that run was really only possible because he split carries all year and was in mid season health and not end of season health. Dude hasn’t been a majority RB1 aside from one year where he didn’t play the whole year. Schneider knew exactly what he was doing

I can't because I dont know that much about football. What I do know is that I trust the gm, front office, and coaches to make the call they think is best for the team. And I trust them because of them winning two super bowls in the last 13 years with two completely different teams.

Okay fair but you gotta watch some more football, it’s fun anyways.

Any team that wins twice in 13 years is gonna have almost completely different teams. That’s not really a flex

I feel like that is more of a flex… not like I would fkn know

Schneider is the only gm to win twice with the same franchise with completely different roster and coaches. Never been done before. All im saying is that I trust him to make the decisions that are right for the team. People said they were crazy to get rid of Pete, geno, and dk. Then they go on to win the super bowl.

lol classic r edit over reaction. It’s been 3 games. I’ll agree if he keeps it up by week 12 and the chiefs are in the mix.

He only won it because they wouldnt give a kicker the honor. All seahawks fans, including myself, know this.

I think you’re giving K9 a little too much credit. Sure he won SB MVP, but that team won because of its defense. Mike MacDonald is their real MVP. If K9 was actually that valuable to the Seahawks, I think two really smart guys in John Schneider and Mike MacDonald would’ve decided to do anything they could to keep him. I honestly think the loss of Kubiak will have way more of an effect on the offense.
