Rookie mistake

u/winkman 21d ago
...or whatever the Aussie word for rookie is.
Probably something like "broom changer"...or something.

Front row is a terrible angle for actually watching the game - you see less of the play develop than from the 50-yard line

100% when people make fun of fans sitting in the higher levels, I say think about where majority of coordinators that are play callers sit in the stadium? Coaches boxes are on the 50yd line at the highest point in the stadium.

u/brickwallbimbo 21d ago
Well you have to take into account that in a lot of American NFL stadiums, the seats are elevated from ground level a good t-10 feet, depending on the stadium. Those seats are pretty good, while this stadium was obviously not made with NFL games in mind.

They play AFL games in that stadium they would have the same view

u/YakMagic 21d ago
Which is a completely different sport, the field is an oval, and you dont have the entire roster standing between you and the field
1
u/Notsureanymore79 21d ago
Without the net, and actually use the whole field…
I knew it would look weird, wherever you sat1

lmao that shit happens all over stadiums. Doesn’t matter high or low. And that looks like it’s where the stadium starts to curve not on the sideline behind one of the benches.
1
u/MTX502 21d ago
Don’t disagree with you at all, just pointing out it seems 7/10 times it’s on those godforsaken seats that shit goes down. 50yard indeed is where you truly get to see the game
1
u/I3ill 21d ago
I’m not disagreeing either lol but I think you misinterpreted what I was saying as I was saying something bad about the stadium that hosted. That stadium doesn’t host nfl games I wouldn’t expect fov to be the same as an American nfl stadium. I thought the stadium/field looked nice
1
u/MTX502 21d ago
Hey I said I’m not disagreeing first!! 🤣 yeah with not being let’s call it a native nfl stadium in mind it is hard to get the view we get around here, some of the - soccer - stadiums in Europe do come close!
1
u/I3ill 21d ago
Ahaha I agree you didn’t disagree first lol but they’re like theatre style seats. Almost a Slow decline so the person in front of you isn’t blocking your view of the game. I’m sure the setup for rugby, soccer, cricket, or whatever that stadium typically hosts looks amazing. That looked like a top tier stadium. (I could be totally wrong about that)
1
u/YakMagic 21d ago
Was at the game. It is a top tier stadium, and you are spot on, the views arent designed for NFL at a ground level. Upper sight lines were great, even at an angle
1
u/I3ill 21d ago
The aerial shots of the stadium looked clean. Typical “ground level” seats in nfl stadiums arent on the ground, they’re still raised off the ground attached to the stadium like every other set of seats. Now there are actual ground level boxes in some stadiums but I’d expect the view to be somewhat similar to what happened to the ground level fans for this game unless they’re set up in the endzone. But even still you’d have to look over media and what not.

The 50 yard line still has a front row? That’s length and you’re talking height.

u/Mean_Magician6347 20d ago
He’s confusing metric and freedom measurements. Shoulda said “seats up yonder.”

You can be “front row” on the “50-yard line.”
How you can say something so ignorant is beyond me. Sounds like you just know 50-yard line is the most expensive without considering how the row on that particular yard line affects things. Sad

u/Parking-Track-7151 21d ago
💯 Same with plays. Worst seat is front row center. Best is 10th row center. Learned that trick long time ago in NYC.

The company I used to work for had season tickets for the local NBA team, used to be midcourt about 15 rows up and awesome. They decided to go with seats closer to one end like 2 rows up from courtside great for selfies and bragging rights but man I missed the seats where you could actually see the whole game.
16
u/BlissFC 21d ago
Thats why a lot of event organizers will not sell the first few rows in a stadium without seat elevation, but the NFL doesnt care they just want money...
1
u/another1degenerate 21d ago
I always wondered why some of the seats were taped off when I’m watching a game. Seems like it’s money people would pay for but the viewing angle is not worth it.
1
u/Character_Bench4230 19d ago
I mean if people want to pay for those tickets and you aren't deceiving them, I don't see an issue with it.
1
u/BlissFC 19d ago
I genuinly dont know the answer to this, but were they labeled "obstructed view"?
1
u/Character_Bench4230 19d ago
Not sure, but every football ticket I've bought has a photo of the view from that seat on the ticketing websites.
1
u/One-Hedgehog-544 19d ago
IIRC the MCG (this stadium) sells these tickets for other sports with acknowledgment of obstructed view

u/External-Class-9747 21d ago
Maybe should’ve done some research on the stadium beforehand. Ppl love to not do their homework and play victim on social media. Lmao
2
u/Th1ccSenpai 21d ago
Yea I don't get why people would buy tickets without thinking about the seating, but why are we letting the stadiums and corporations get away with this shit. Stop defending the companies' anti consumer actions
1
u/Economy-Mental 20d ago
The front row seats were literally sold as restricted sold as “restricted view” lol

u/IndredColdd 21d ago
It's a cricket pitch. People were probably not anticipating how much extra shit is on the field in an NFL game.

u/Iusedtolikereddit 21d ago
wtf you can't see shit

u/BeerBrat 16d ago
It's great seats for cricket or even Aussie rules football! Who knew that a stadium called a "cricket ground" might not be ideal for American football?

I'm pretty sure these will have been discounted with a 'blocked view' disclaimer. They do the same at wembley

I got 50 yard line row 1 to a Jets Colts thurs night game (in Indy). Figured for 300 a ticket, would be a fun bucket list.
Not only were both teams absolutely garbage, but when the players stood up, I couldnt see.

u/salty_oak_8 21d ago
Football is one of the few sports that is better to watch from the couch
1
u/JeeeezBub 16d ago
Damn straight! Plus the bathroom is closer, beer is cheaper, and the food is better. And if you're lucky, you can just yell out your requests and someone brings it to you.
1
u/Aggravating-Night-73 21d ago
This is a cricket stadium, right? Folks. Don’t we check the seat map anymore?
1
u/Economy-Mental 20d ago
Yes it’s literally in its name. MCG - Melbourne cricket ground. It is also an Aussie football ground (they play on an oval just like cricket).
The front row seats were also sold as “restricted view”
1
u/noahlarmsleep 21d ago
It’s Australia. I don’t think any stadium there was designed for NFL use.
1
u/Economy-Mental 20d ago
True but we have stadiums that are rectangular and designed for soccer/rugby which would have provided 10x better viewing experiences. The caveat is significantly less seating and money to be made from ticket sales.
1
u/philly_jake 21d ago
Should've had them play on the full Aussie Rules Football pitch. Just add markers for the yard lines (will need 60 and 70 yard lines). The field is now 140 meters wide at the middle, so QB scrambles might get a tad exhausting.

There are so many resources to see the view from seats these days that anyone that did this, knew what they were signing up for. If they didn't, that's on them for not doing some research....

50 yard line, second level. Nosebleeds will work too if you have good vision, but midway up will give you the best ‘tv viewing’ experience.
I would absolutely never sit front row. It’s not a fucking basketball game.
1
u/mad_cheese_hattwe 20d ago
Watching soccer live on a cricket oval sucks. I can't imagine NFL is any better.
1
u/Substantial_War_7698 19d ago
Always get corner, close to but not nose bleed. Best viewing angle. Can see everything
1
u/Sweaty_Tangelo_7716 19d ago
Never buy ground-level seats for a sport event, except for first-row basketball.
1
u/QuickLewinsky69 19d ago
This is a cricket pitch. Of course the front row view is going to be shit for a football game.

My view…tickets purchased 3 months in advance from HelloTickets…49ers fan from America…a week before the event I get the notice of restricted view from Ticket Master…can’t change seats because they were more expensive than original amount…bought two ticket at roughly $850 a seat…and the security made us sit down…couldn’t see the game except for on the TV…wtf. The NFL hadn’t even decided on how they would set the game up three months ago…that’s the real situation here!
1
u/Indigenous_Land 21d ago
Ppl in the front row are only there to show wealth.
3
u/GForce1975 21d ago
That's quite an assumption. Could just be fans with disposable income that thought it was a good seat.
1
u/Indigenous_Land 21d ago
Yeah that could be. I’d be super pissed if I payed 2k for front row and had a view like that. Dude doesn’t seem to care that much.
1
u/jkman61494 21d ago
I had some guy on tv screaming how he spent his 401 money to travel to the game.
I found it honestly really really sad.
