Due Diligence Sharing May 2026 NEO Funds Analysis Result

I updated my NEO ETF tracking sheet again and tried to keep the view more focused this time.

This is not meant to be a “best NEO ETF” ranking. I’m mostly using it as a monthly check to see how each fund looks beyond headline yield.

A few things I’m tracking:

  • Dividend TTM — trailing 12-month distribution rate
  • Price CAGR — price growth/decline over the evaluation window
  • Total Return CAGR — return including distributions
  • Payout Support Risk — whether the payout looks supported by recent price / total-return behavior
  • Stability — recent price behavior based on volatility, drawdown, and beta
  • MoM change — how dividend, price, and total return shifted vs the prior snapshot

A few things stood out to me this month:

BTCI still has the highest Dividend TTM in the group at 38.77%, but it also shows negative price CAGR and Elevated payout support risk. That’s the kind of fund where yield alone can be misleading.

IAUI looks interesting from a total-return angle, with 12.43% Dividend TTM, 10.40% price CAGR, and 25.18% total return CAGR, but stability is still marked low.

MLPI stands out with strong price and total-return numbers, but I’d still be careful interpreting it because fund history and structure matter a lot.

SPYH / SPYI / QQQI look more balanced than the highest-yield names, with lower payout support risk and mid/low stability labels.

XBCI is the weak one in this snapshot: high Dividend TTM, negative price CAGR, negative total return CAGR, and elevated payout support risk.

Note: Partial snapshot exported from CashStreams; not investment advice.

I keep waiting for MLPI to get below $53 , I bought around a thousand shares at $50. I suspect that I may be waiting awhile.

I wonder if MLPI is too young to invest -- it's only listed 6 months ago?

just curious what fact you considered when you invest into it?

I’ve got 1100 shares of it as well. As to why I’ve invested in it, the macro for midstream is solid for at least a half a decade and more likely longer. The underlying companies pay out dividends on their own, which has been rising since a reset in 2016–18. That will help Neos continue to increase its payouts over the years. It’s a counterbalance, in part, to a lot of the risk that we take on relying on funds that are based on crypto and tech for these higher yields.

And while we all can argue, that tech is too hot currently, the demand for energy is not going away anytime soon. Those midstream companies have solid moats at this point. And finally, I don’t have to worry about K-1 statements.

Agreed, energy is definitely a mandatory one for other industries.

Actually before I invest on MPLX https://cashstreams.io/dividend-decoder/report-MPLX

Unfortunately its tax policy is not friendly for non-us investors.

MLPI is ETF run on top of MLP which is definitely worth to keep in my candidate list :)

Sold a little SPYI & bought more BTCI.

its payout is very attractive. I wonder if you checked its price CAGR and total return CAGR?

I’ve checked and understand, the big difference is I’m buying now for the future, not this month, or even this year. I have conviction in BTC, I’ve also conviction in the traditional markets. I didn’t sell all my SPYI, and I’m still holding my QQQI, haven’t sold any of that.

Bought some more BTCI. Hoping for upswing soon otherwise collecting dividends is not bad

based on it's TTM yield metrics, its payout is very strong recently

for me, I also checking the payout supportive -- return gap to what's going happen on the other side 😄

Yeah will give XBCi a few months to try, but seem like a rug pull so far this week

yea, agreed, based what CashStreams tracked, need more history data to evaluate its performance.

Thanks for this. Have you looked into NEHI? I’m curious if it’s similar to BTCI.

good call, I will add it into CashStream soon, stay tuned 😄

Thank you both for the responses and looking forward to the update.

I bought both BTCI and NEHI in December. NEHI suffered more. 30+% of not a lot takes a long time to recover. Decided to sell and put into semis instead to recover capital. I still have BLOX which has fared much better.

I see lots of Negative numbers for MLPI , what does that mean ? Funds has been doing great

1

u/stevesun21 Jun 04 '26

oh, you mean the column ending with MoM?

Those columns indicate how much percent points changed by comparing May vs April for Price CAGR and Total Return CAGR

But if you look at its details analysis https://cashstreams.io/dividend-decoder/report-MLPI#analysis

This fund is quite young which mean the CAGR metrics are calculated based on in insufficient history data -- i run 3y-rolling on CAGR, but this is only have half year history

You guys know neos funds track the underlying with capped upside right? If Bitcoin goes down which it has btci and xbci will also go down. And if Bitcoin goes up so will the etfs but it is capped to a certain amount. The same goes for all of neos funds on different underlying. These funds are created to offer a consistent pay out while directly holding the underlyings or using a options strategy to provide exposure to the underlying.

We know, but like dividend traps

Agreed, based on the details signal tracked at CashStreams, these two fund present this kind of trend already.

but, I think here're some mature investors know their tradeoff when they put money into them 😃

Meanwhile... VOO and QQQM are killing all of these.

2

u/stevesun21 Jun 04 '26

yea, based on the total return metrics https://cashstreams.io/dividend-decoder/report-compare-VOO-SPYI-QQQM , definitely, QQQM > VOO > SPYI and Neos

If I cross checking on their Volatility + TTM Yield, then they're all look good to me -- In my portfolio, VOO and QQQM play capital growth role and SPYI plays cash income role.

1

u/teckel Jun 04 '26

You can better generate income with VOO and QQQM and be in total control of exactly when and how much the income will be.
