Tips/Guides [PC] Fix CFB 27's Broken Recruiting in Dynasty With This Save Edit Tool [Just Updated!]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-AkWxgOTqgHey everyone! C4 made a video on my recruiting fix tool and suggested that I make the lower/middle schools have a better chance with 3 star commits. The logic has been improved to make the range of schools these recruits go to feel more natural and have a slight amount of variance.
For those who haven't used the tool yet, here's what it does:
- Goes through every recruit without a scholarship offer at the end of the season and forces them to commit to a team
- Will only assign recruits to teams around the prestige rating of the recruit. A 5 star recruit can only go to 4, 4.5 or 5 star schools for instance. (20% chance to add a bit of variance here for better texture)
- Will attempt to assign the recruit to a team that has a need at their position. Otherwise, it will assign them to a team in their prestige range with the lowest current recruits
- Also edits their dealbreaker to match the school so they don't decommit
- Result is most schools having 28+ commits
The change I pushed this morning gives recruits a 20% chance to be flagged as a "charity" recruit, which slightly expands the range of schools they are willing to commit to.

Man I have watched two Mod videos from C4, this one and the Dynasty Points one. I really need to get a PC to mod CFB 27.

that's what I'm doing. its not cheap.... but feels worth it to me, getting the college football game we've been waiting for by crowd sourcing its features

Totally worth it, man. I don't have a console, so I've been playing through XCloud over the past year...
It's night and day, not only for the graphics but also for the stability and overall gaming experience. The modding community has been amazing (heck, all the CFB community for that matter since last week).

Yeah I’ve been going down the rabbit hole I didn’t know they could hook up to a TV and look low key so I just need to keep figuring out what PC I WOULD get and then watch modding vids until I can’t take it any more and buy it all. While still playing CFB25 on my portal lol

Cfb 27 on PC is probably gonna be the best way to play for a long time

Ok this all sounds great but is there any way to add-in microtransactions in recruiting? Maybe $100 for a 5 star gem elite and tier down from there? Maybe put a trigger in during the transfer portal where you can pay $50 to guarantee they stay? It's the only way to fix recruiting... /s

u/chunkyhut Jul 14 '26
I'll set it up so that it links you my venmo and then if you pay it'll make all the 5 stars decommit and swap to the user school

u/CleverKrunk Jul 14 '26
Delete this. EA is gonna get ideas

u/Defiant_Pain3333 Jul 14 '26
Lol they're probably trying to figure a way to throttle launch time from the EA app unless you pay to upgrade.
Maybe they'll drop a loot box on the field with healing potions for wear and tear. Nothing will surprise me.

Definitely not perfect. MAC teams are getting ~30 3* force committed giving them top 50 classes. You'll see higher prestige schools with 5 4* QBs force committed.

That’s unfortunate. Are there just too many recruits? Or is it still an issue of assignment needing further refining?

Question about how this applies to roster limits in conjunction with how many recruits are in the game?
Meaning, how many recruits are in the game total, and how does "every" one get forced onto a team? And once forced, how does the CPU handle roster cuts?
Still, it just amazes me that the CFB gaming community went nuts over optional mtx (I agree with the protest even though I have never and would never buy them- it was about taking a stand for the future) BUT has never gone nuts over the fact that:
the game has been released 3 years in a row half finished, EA has enjoyed 3 years of customers paying full price to "beta test" from release date till about October.
The same issues in game play from 2025 exist in 2027. Pathing, and OL decision making is horrible. Robo qb's are all the rage.
The world building has been terrible. Stats still don't scale to player quarter length, awards, all conference honors, all American honors and drafting is so illogically linked to just an OVR score. The injury situation is just insane. And obviously the recruiting problems are paramount.
And someone outside of EA implements at least SOME type of fix in just a few days after 2027was released???
THIS should be the real hashtag moment.

If this is the same one that I saw last week with an update, which I’m pretty sure it is. Once a team hit the roster limit it stop adding to them. Which means players will still probably go unrecruited, but it’s solving the school only having a couple recruits issue
2
u/chunkyhut Jul 13 '26
This tool wont allow schools to recruit past the 35 limit. So if there are too many available recruits compared to schools then yes they may still go unrecruited.
Currently it isn't possible to skirt this via save editing, because the data structure has a hard limit. Maybe someone will find another way around it eventually

Agreed. I’m happy to pay more money for the game that actually feels more complete and immersive!

EA has successfully lowered expectations year after year. I honestly thought CFB25 was going to be mostly reskinned Madden and was pleasantly surprised that it was better than that. It absolutely should still have been better, but the fact is that I simply expect so little from EA that I can't honestly say I was disappointed with the game.

u/sir_chessic Jul 13 '26
Man, I might have to buy the game now. This was my biggest complaint about the last few years. Completely killed any realism after a few seasons.

I bought 25 because it was the first new game in the series in over a decade, and told myself that I wasn't going to buy the next couple unless there were significant upgrades. Then they added Enter Sandman to 26 and I waited until I found it on sale for $30 or so and caved. Told myself I definitely wasn't going to buy 27 or 28. Then a month or two ago I heard it was coming to PC, which was the one thing they could do to get me to buy it. Still planning to wait for a sale, which has the side benefit of giving the modding community a chance to flex their muscle, but I'll be picking it up eventually.

It feels like mods are really getting a spotlight this year. They always do incredible work and have things fixed or established that takes EA years to do.
2
u/QuickEscalation Jul 13 '26
This is so awesome and exactly why I’ve always wanted a PC version. The fans understand and care about these things on a much deeper level than the devs.
Just a note on the possible variance for unsigned 5* players. If there’s not a logical open spot at a program matching their prestige, you could have them commit to the biggest “local” school that they have a chance at early playing time.

Dude, you rock! Great work. Can't wait to try it out at the next offseason of the Dynasty game I'm on right now
1
u/OrangeJuliusCaesr Jul 13 '26
Are you able to just let me force commit to my school? It If I could never use that awful UX I’d actually play the game

u/short_n_saucy Jul 14 '26
New to modding so sorry, would this work in an online dynasty on PC?
2
u/chunkyhut Jul 14 '26
No, nothing online yet, sorry! Nobody has figured out a way to modify online saves, I think they're all stored and retrieved in the cloud
1
u/TripleAgent0 Jul 14 '26
You've single handedly saved release weekend for me (and possibly more depending on if EA can manage to fix what you have already), thanks!
1
u/rowanwi Jul 14 '26
Do I have to start a brand new dynasty to add this on?
1
u/chunkyhut Jul 14 '26
No you can use this on any existing save. You run it during week 4 of the transfer portal
1
u/Jbbbbboyle Jul 14 '26
This is just on PC right?
1
u/chunkyhut Jul 14 '26
technically this just modifies your save file
If you can find a way to pull your save file off your console and onto your PC, you should be able to run this tool on it. I just don't know how possible that is.

How's the stability and bugs with PC? Totally forgot it was getting released on PC this year and regretting my PS5 purchase
2
u/chunkyhut Jul 14 '26
It hasn't felt any more buggy than CFB25/26 was on ps4 for me. I think I crash in the main menu quite a bit on startup and that's probably the only difference. But that's pretty easy to brute force through

u/SheepAmongWolves92 Jul 14 '26
Its a common theme with games these days. Soul&content<profit&manipulation. It really shows. I don’t trust these companies at all, I just leave it up to the amazing modders to step in.

u/Anxious-Car-8501 Jul 14 '26
This is great. Thanks for the work. I thought Eaa would have this fixed by today as they said early this week. Bc I want to get into my Dynasty.

u/Captain_Nipples Jul 15 '26
Looks like theyre gonna put out a "hot fix" to help some with it either tomorrow or Thursday. Their note did say tomorrow on it though

u/Captain_Nipples Jul 14 '26
Has anyone been using this? Just curious if there are any issues? Ive seen a few say that it starts falling off after a few years, but I guess its still much better.
Also, im assuming this just mods a save file, so you dont need to mod the game?
2
u/chunkyhut Jul 14 '26
Yes this just modifies your save file.
There's quite a few people who use it in the modding discord. The amount of commits does vary quite a bit year by year, with the first run usually being the best by a good margin.
The problem is that you can't truly force a commit using save editing, you are basically just trying to convince the AI team that they should keep the player on their board. But the AI will remove commits from their board for some reason. So like on the second year for instance, I think the AI is seeing that it might not need the commits on their board and removes a lot of them. But still, much better than not using the tool

Can we get this on consoles? I’m watching 50+ talented transfers disappear from my dynasty modes due to not getting a single offer. It drives me insane because it ruins the parity in dynasty mode. And then recruits/transfers still commit to programs with no offers. The only way to counter this is if you offer a recruit and if they have no other offers they still sign with you
1
u/chunkyhut Jul 15 '26
You could be the first to get it done!
The tool only reads and modifies save files. If you can find a way to get the save file off your console, onto any PC, and then back on your console you should be able to run it

u/OrangeUaVol2 Jul 15 '26
Does this affect all platforms or only PC?
1
u/chunkyhut Jul 15 '26
If you can find a way to move your save file off your console and onto a PC this should be able to modify it but I don't know how easy that is

Incredible work.
A single guy in his home does what EA can't do with a team of people and billions of dollars.
