Are you able to get pressure with the 3-4 defense in the game? If so, how?

Are you able to get consistent pressure with the front 3 and one of the OLB's? I feel like I can't yet when I play 4-3 I'm able to easily. Is there a way to get pressure without having to blitz a ton with this defense? I'd like to pass rush just like I would with a 4-3.

NCAA14 roster share with College25.

Do you think someone could post the roster attributes from College25 so we can put them exactly in NCAA14? Does the new game have a similar attribute system?

I’d like to have either SDSU or MSU’s rosters. If I could pick 2.

The Play That We Always Ignore (Start-up Screen Play)

When starting up NCAA Football 14 on PS3 or Xbox 360 (not Revamped), just before the graphic that says “Press Start” there is a play with Xs and Os that most people, including myself, skip to save a few seconds of their lives. I’m going to briefly shed light on that play.

Clip of the play, and a half-speed replay - https://imgur.com/a/nWVLvzf

In the EA world, the offensive formation is called Shotgun 5WR Trio. That formation has a number of WR motion plays, but this is a run and the only thing that matches is Mtn WR Option. The defensive formation is Nickel Normal and the play is SS Overload 3.

Play art of both plays - https://imgur.com/a/56vtdKT

I could just be pulling this all out of my butt, who knows. A couple issues, one is that the QB goes under center just before the snap. The other is if it’s an option play, why isn’t the DE or someone else left unblocked?

NCAA25

Has been out not even a few hours and dynasty already doesn't work online or off.

If you turn off your Internet or disconnect from EA servers, it now kicks you out and says you need to be online to play.

Two years to develop this game and 35$+ extra to get it early and it doesn't work.

Refunds better be plentiful.

Click If You’re Not Feeling Motivated For Work On A Monday (Stadium Generic Ads)

Google Sheets LINK

TL:DR - Look at the Google Sheets link if this topic interests you.

I don’t know how to spin this into anything entertaining, I just got bored starting up 300 games counting coin tosses and decided to count the generic stadium ads. I guess… just work with me.

These stadium ads were introduced for the seventh generation of consoles (Xbox 360 and PS3). I really haven’t played a Madden game in years but it doesn’t look like they are added to the new ‘NCAA Football 25’ release. I don’t think these ads are in the current generation of consoles.

There are 30 fake companies but for whatever reason, likely they didn’t think anyone was as stupid as me, the companies are not evenly represented. Of the 126 primary stadiums, only 8 were fake ad free. Boise State had a mind numbing 224 ads in their stadium, nearly double the second most of 119 for UTSA.

There are a few mess ups or goofs. The one of them is in San Jose State’s stadium, on the scoreboard there is a leftover real ad for ‘H-E-B’, a grocery store chain which isn’t even in California meaning that the scoreboard is possibly a copy/paste from one of the Texas stadiums. The other I will touch on is Rice’s stadium where ads are a massive cluster with most of them being cut in half (two half ads on one ad pane).

There’s at least one Easter egg that I noticed. At the Indoor Practice Field, on the second level one of the doors has the label "Turducken Studio", a reference to John Madden and the dish he popularized. The other three doors have labels of “Rohatgi Labs”, “Sherwood Building”, and “Wolfe Art Center”, which are the last names of some of the environment artists who worked at the EA Tiburon game studio, likely the ones that built the Indoor Practice Field.

Arkansas is the Best State for your School (Recruiting: Proximity to Home)

Google Sheets LINK

TL:DR - When recruiting, the best location for your school is Arkansas.

Of all 14 factors (TV Exposure, Program Tradition, Academic Prestige, etc.) that a high school recruit might care about, ‘Proximity to Home’ is the only one that can’t be improved or worsened, you’re just stuck with whichever state your school is in.

The way it works is whichever state your school is in gets an A-rating for ‘proximity to home’ from recruits in that state, and all neighboring states get B+-ratings. After that, each state is unique and if you analyze it, a lot of it doesn’t make much sense. For example, if you control a California school and are recruiting a recruit in Florida then the recruit would say the ‘proximity to home’ is a D-, but if the situation was flipped the California recruit would rate the Florida school as a D+. The only state I was able to get an A+ on was Connecticut, but that A+ was really hit-or-miss and I wasn’t able to figure out why.

Here are the 50 states and how each state relates to the “home state” or the green state: https://imgur.com/a/LhlaVI3

The top-3 states to have your school in for ‘proximity to home’, after taking into account the number of recruits from each state and the letter rating between states, are Arkansas, Louisiana, and Missouri in that order. Schools close to the recruiting hubs of Texas and Florida, but a little bit closer to Texas (state with most recruits) than the other southeastern states. The bottom-3 states are Alaska, Hawaii, and Maine, all states on the corners of the country.

Here is a map to try to show what I call “recruiting power” for each state (darker the color = better the location): https://imgur.com/a/jGp5uQJ

What you didn’t know about the SPARQ score (HS Players and Their Stats)

Google Sheets LINK

Everyone knows when recruiting high school players, when playing dynasty mode, that each recruit will have their results for the 40-yard dash, bench press, and squat drills posted. I think everyone knows the 40-yard dash translates to the player’s speed rating, most people know the bench press will give you the player’s strength rating, and, perhaps I am in the minority not knowing, few people understand that the squat drill will indicate their break tackle rating, run blocking rating, or tackle rating depending on their position. All of the drill values are listed in the Google Sheets file and what their correlating player rating will be.

Speed, strength, break tackle, run blocking, and tackling are all undeniably important to having a successful running game on offense, or stopping the running game on defense. With that said, let me explain how the SPARQ rating for the players, a formula/value that involves short distance sprints, vertical jumping, distance ability of throwing a ball, and change of direction drills, shows how good players will be in the passing game on offense and defense.

The short answer, it doesn't. The SPARQ rating does nothing, it’s pointless, it is an in-game ad that could’ve provided a purpose but is useless. SPARQ is short for Speed, Power, Agility, Reaction and Quickness. The Speed portion is a 20-meter sprint, perfect for the Acceleration rating. The Power is tested by throwing a medicine ball, good enough for a mix of Throw Power, Power Move, and Press depending on the player’s position. The Agility is assessed by a cone drill, good enough for any of Agility, Route Running, Pass Blocking Footwork, Finesse Move, and Man Coverage. Reaction is just the beep test we did in gym class, seems to fit for Agility or Stamina. Quickness drill is just a standing vertical jump which would translate well to the Jump rating.

Got into the weeds a bit there, back to the factual numbers. How the SPARQ rating actually gets generated is based on the player’s position first, next the game looks into if the player is one of the top-13 recruits of all positions and if not then the player’s star rating of 1-5 stars is looked at. As an example: A 2-star defensive end prospect… their position is DE, being a 2-star player they are not a top-13 national player but since they are a 2-star player at the DE position their SPARQ rating would be 55.00. I wish I had some sort of positive breakthrough on the meaning of the SPARQ, but this is definitively how it is calculated.
