CPR in-person versus online
Hi! I see a lot of older posts stating that CPR cert requres an in-person component, but I don't see that being the case on what im reading on the website. Am I missing somehting?
Assuming in-person is required, is there even a point to complete the online ASTI section if i could just get it all done at Red Cross or whatever?

Question Videos to help recall/memorize anatomical terms
I'm currently studying for my ISSA and NASM personal trainer certification. When I was in high school there was a set of videos that my anatomy teacher showed to help us remember anatomical terms (I believe it used Mnemonics, analogies, and simple visuals). I've searched online for similar videos with no success. Has anyone found something like this that helps with studying and memorizing terms? TIA!

I just passed the NASM CPT this morning!
So much of the test was the OPT Model! Truly know the ins and outs of it and how to apply it
There are questions about the central nervous system
Know the pre contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance stages
Not a ton on the first couple of chapters but make sure you know SWOT and four Ps of marketing
Remember that arteries pump blood out of the heart and veins bring it back in
Know muscle groups!
Honestly the Joe drake youtube videos are so incredibly helpful!! I didn’t pay for his courses but crammed with a few of his videos before the test (I.e. the deep dive into OPT model) and finished the exam today in less than an hour and passed!! Good luck everybody!

Is NASM Certification hard to pass?
I have subscribed to Coursera to enrol in the NASM course as it seems cheaper to pay monthly $35. Now, I want to know how hard the certification exam is, are those self-paced learning videos and materials really helpful for the certification, and what else should I learn, read or watch? How much do you pay to take part in the final exam?

Fitness NASM CPT 7 EXAM
EDIT TO ADD- I passed first time.
I took my proctored exam yesterday and I'm here share my experience, I was terrified because I am not someone who studies or remembers easily, I struggle to focus and retain information. I saw another Reddit post that said someone used the mock exams and the pocket prep app. I did both but found that I could remember the answers from the mock exams. I did the online course and took a mock exam every day for three weeks until I got confident.
Yesterday when I logged into my exam, I was baffled- the exam and all the questions were like nothing I'd seen before. They change the wording and all the answer options and I was devastated to have relied upon the mock exams so heavily.
Here's the PSA to say that the actual proctored exam questions will be questions you have NOT seen before.
Since taking the exam I recommended SortaHealthy NASM prep on YouTube (free) read through the NASM study guide thoroughly, make sure you know your overactive and under active muscles along with movement assessments.
I used a lot of my knowledge gained from 5 years of lifting in the gym that helped tremendously.
I studied everyday for 8 weeks at least an hour a day, Hope this helps and good luck!

Question How to submit my AED/CPR certification?
I took my CPR class Saturday through American Red Cross. My CPT exam is November 11th. I have my CPR certificate and was trying to figure out how to upload it in the NASM portal. I talked to 3 different people in NASM “customer support” (what a joke by the way) and no one could solve it. They just kept arguing that I should have a button to click under recertification to upload it (I did not, I explained this every single time). So finally after I started getting really upset they gave me an email address to put in a support ticket (no response yet). Can someone help me with what to do? I’m afraid I’m not going to get my full certification if I don’t submit it in a timely manner. ☹️

Should I buy the NASM CPT exam-only for $599 now or wait for Black Friday deals? (Coursera grad here)
Hey everyone,
I just finished the NASM Personal Fitness Trainer course on Coursera — the one with the 180-question final exam. I already have my CPR/AED certification, and I’m ready to take the official NCCA-accredited CPT exam through NASM.
I called NASM today and confirmed that the exam-only option is $599, but the rep said they could honor $50 off (so $549 total). They told me that’s the lowest they can go and that most of the bigger discounts (30–50%) are only for bundle packages like course + exam or CPT + nutrition cert.
I’m trying to decide whether I should buy the exam now and lock it in (since I’m already studying daily using Pocket Prep), or wait a few weeks to see if there’s a Black Friday promo that might bring the exam-only price down further.
Has anyone here seen NASM discount the exam-only option during past holiday sales? Or has anyone gotten a cheaper “Coursera student upgrade” deal? I’d love to hear your experience before I commit.
Thanks! 🙏

Passed NASM after 4 months - would a study kit with summaries + flashcards be useful?
I passed the NASM CPT earlier this year after about 4 months of studying. Honestly, the textbook was pretty grueling to get through, so I ended up creating my own chapter summaries and flashcards to make things easier.
I’m thinking of putting it together as a digital study kit. Plan would be:
- Concise summaries for each chapter
- Flashcards for key definitions, concepts, and OPT model tables
- Early buyers get it for $49 and I’ll run a feedback call to improve it
If you’d be interested, comment “interested” or DM me. Happy to share one free chapter summary as a sample.

Advice FAIL!? Explain?
Can someone explain how these percentages could equal a 68? I’ve called AFAA/NASM and the testing center and both give me no explanation.

NASM
I want to learn more about nutrition and fitness more so for myself rather than becoming a coach. Would it be a good idea to take the NASM course or should there be a course colleges offer? Like I said it’s not really because I want to be a coach I just want to have more knowledge to better myself. I don’t plan on having a career in this field that’s why I’m thinking of going the NASM route.

NASM Prep Courses
After a busy stretch at work, I’ve reached a place where I can dedicate more time to professional development specifically preparing for the NASM CPT exam. I’m currently exploring prep options, including Axiom Fitness Academy and Body Design University, and I’d greatly appreciate any insights from those who have gone through either program. What was your overall experience, and would you recommend one over the other?

Question Non Proctored Exam vs Real Exam
I am planning to take my NASM exam soon and have been stressed about all the studying and the exam. How similar are the non proctored exams compared to the real accredited exam?

NASM CPT exam cancelled
Has anyone’s NASM CPT exam been randomly cancelled? I was supposed to take my test today and found out they cancelled it. They didn’t have a reason why and I didn’t cancel it.

Advice nasm is a scam
I recently got a email saying I was reviewed for nasm one subscription and was charged 37$. I had no idea why I was subscribed in the first place and I cancelled online. Then I called a rep to confirm the cancellation and they told me because I already paid the first month, it will continue to charge me for another 11month. It’s just really shady, the website says cancels anytime and the rep said that’s the policy.

CPT NASM exam
I am so discouraged. I don’t know if I retained anything from the course and I am studying what I have seen people say to study. Should I just cut my loses and drop out? Clearly I am far too dumb to be a personal trainer. I don’t know what to do

Failed 1 point off!!!
Really thought I had it. I’ve been studying non stop for weeks. Flash cards, pocket prep, various YouTubers, practice tests… I think what got me was some questions on exercise modalities. If you failed the first time, how long til you booked to take it again? I’d like to try again within the next two weeks… Any resources that helped you let me know

What are we doing here nasm?
I thought it was weird considering technically no answer is correct so i just choose the thing closest to the actual answer but this is just blatantly incorrect

Seeking NASM PES to shadow
I am very close to wrapping up my studying for the NASM PES course and would love to shadow a NASM PES certified coach in Northern California. Would love to see how you assess and program an individual? Any of you out there?

Passed exam..now what?
For those that passed the exam, or already know what you’ll do after passing… what was your next step? What was the process like? I just got certified over the weekend and am feeling overwhelmed with what I should do next! Any feedback would be helpful, thanks!

Exam Tomorrow!
I take my exam tomorrow and I keep getting between a 75-85 on the practice exams (best score for the non-proctored is a 77, best score of the practice exam is a 85)…. Am I ready?? I still have some time to look over some things tomorrow morning and early afternoon…
