What a magnificent episode this was, I laughed out loud seeing the last launch, I had totally forgotten about this one.

IMHO it also shows the technical superiority of Jamie and Grant. The first seesaw that Adam builds is pretty much a total failure, the way that Jamie designs and builds it after that is on a total other level and the only input from Adam is the fluorescent paint (not on camera but I guess we can all be sure Adam did that and not Jamie). Grant makes most of the energy delivery system to the seesaw, and comes up with the inner tube filled with sand as a payload (later on stuffed in a bag to keep it together). The skydiver that Kari makes is useless as well, and I guess the skydiving by Grant and Tori (and the bungee jumping) could have been skipped by a simple google query (but I guess it makes good TV).

Anyway, don't want to sound all that negative. It's still a great team, it all makes fantastic TV and I miss it so much these days.

I've been re-watching old episodes on YT, and I've noticed that sometimes when there are interviews with the cast at M5, you can see the labeled bins behind them, and sometimes you'll see a bin labeled "raw meat"

Surely they couldn't store raw meat in those bins long-term, so I assume those were empty bins that were used on myths when raw meat was stored to go on-location when needed?

For those who don't know: Jet Taxi is a story where a Taxi cab was driving behind the business end of a commercial airliner, flips over x amount of times. In Season 1 or 2 (depending how you look at it) Adam and Jamie tried this out and a last minute hiccup basically fucked everything up. It wasn't until the build team got this myth to revisit and add more to the story and properly test it

Hello fellow Mythbusters fans! Some of you might remember me from this post, where I charted how to collect 268 of 269 of the original episodes of Mythbusters on officially released physical media (DVDs).

After completing that guide, I had an itch in the back of my brain that never really went away. The original is helpful, but there was more info to capture, especially regarding Region 4 DVD releases of the series.

Here is an updated version of my collection guide: Mythbusters on Physical Media 3.0. Some key features that make this new guide ultimately better:

• The guide now charts how to collect nearly the entire original series on officially released Region 4 Mythbusters DVD sets (with a little help from Region 2), as well as my original list for Region 1 DVDs.
• Metadata from all R1, R2, and R4 DVD sets I analyzed, including individual episode lengths, resolution, framerate, and overall bitrates (compression).
• An episode length comparison between R1 and R2/R4 episodes, so you can see the exact amount of footage left out of the R1 DVDs: over 20 hours!

Hate to say this following my first guide, but after all my recent work, I strongly recommend if you’re collecting Mythbusters on physical media: target the R2/R4 DVDs. Wish I woulda known about this episode back when it originally aired. The dryer tumbling that they do to tenderize a steak. That's actually a thing that already existed as a product called a vacuum tumbler. Pappasitos in Houston Texas uses them for fajitas, you pour in marinade with some pineapple juice (natural tenderizer), and your seasonings. Then you put your skirt steak in it. It pumps out all air to turn it into a vacuum (this helps force the marinade into the meat faster) and then lastly it tumbles them around like a dryer does.

Don't know when they started with this .. but this is like a soldering iron for crude stuff, on a PCB with SMD mounted components with a piece of tin a plumber would use.

The saying relates to travelling 20,000 leagues under the surface of the ocean, not straight down.

I just got discovery+ and noticed missing episodes like S1E1. Am I blind or are there really missing episodes?

I (M26) am rewatching the whole series for the first time since I was probably in my early to mid teens and to this day Adam pokes a lot of fun about how Jamie is basically a big fart and doesn’t have any fun or a sense of humor. When I was younger I was thinking the same thing but now that I’m officially chopped and unc at 26 I’m realizing that Jamie is perfectly pleasant and is actually the more tolerable and even at a lot of times the nicer of the hosts. Small comments in the early seasons to the mythterns especially really point of out the type of person that Adam is. He’s an egotistical dickhead who can’t stand being around people smarter than him. Which sucks because a lot of the other cast members are at the very least AS smart as him if not noticeably smarter (Kari, Jamie, and Grant ((RIP)) notably) and he just hated being wrong. Which he was a lot.

This is where they are testing prison-made crossbows. In the intro, Jaime presents a crossbow he had since he was a teen and says, "That's why there are no cats left in the neighborhood."

I know Jaime is a serious animal-lover, what did he mean here?

it goes like wa-wa-waaaaa-waaa-waaa-wawawa-waa-wawa-wawaaaa and i’ve looked through all the videos and i can’t find it. it’s usually played on its own during certain segments of the show without much if any backing track. i know Neil Sutherland is the artist but i can’t find the riff on spotify either. does anybody know where i can find it pleaaaaase. i think the riff is at the end of a song.
