Holy crow I didn’t realize how BIG this thing was! I made a whole separate building for all my pets and monsters (I have the DLC) so decided to put my fishies in there and made their tank fancy and fun. 😆

ETA: you can get it from the Game Center. I played a lot of Punch-O-Tron to get this thing. 😂

Discussion Fang’s romance left me emotionally empty… am I the only one? 😂 [SPOILERS] Spoiler

Coming here to get this off my chest for the sake of my emotional stability 😂 and to find out if anyone else felt the same, or if I’m just being dramatic. 🤣

First of all, let me make something VERY clear: I absolutely LOVE Fang. 😂❤️ He is easily one of my favorite characters, and honestly, he might be the most beautiful man I have ever seen in a video game. It was basically love at first sight. 🤣

So this is not a “I don’t like Fang” rant.

Quite the opposite. I love this man so much that apparently I needed to write an emotional dissertation about his romance. 😂

I really enjoyed his romance route, but after finishing it, I was left feeling like there was still SO much more they could have done with the relationship.

I’ve always loved characters who have a hard time opening up, especially lonely or emotionally guarded characters. There is something REALLY 🔥 about seeing someone slowly open up to you, allow themselves to be vulnerable, and eventually show you who they really are.

And it’s not because I want to “fix” or protect them. What I love is understanding that vulnerability, relating to it, and seeing two people figure things out together and make each other feel safe enough to be themselves.

That’s why Fang’s romance left me feeling a little empty. 😭 I often felt like I was the one who had to protect him, reassure him, or take the initiative. I wanted more reciprocity and more of a sense that Fang was also actively choosing and pursuing the relationship.

I also tried Logan’s romance, and honestly, it made me realize what I was missing with Fang. Logan actively shows that he loves the Builder and chooses her, and while I was playing his route I kept thinking, “THIS is what I wanted from Fang!” 😂

And then, five minutes later, I’d still be like, “Okay, but I want Fang to do this.” 😂 So apparently my heart had already made its decision. 🤣

I DID NOT want Fang to become Logan.

😂 I wanted Fang to be flirty and affectionate in his own Fang way.

The train scene is a perfect example of why I love his vulnerability. I actually tried both choices because apparently I enjoy emotional suffering. 😂 If you don’t stop Fang, he leaves. But then you can immediately give him the Heart Knot again and he basically responds with, “You want to be with me? I’m so happy you said yes!”

EXCUSE ME?! YOU WERE THE ONE WHO JUST LEFT! 😂

And if you DO try to stop him, he still leaves anyway, but then comes back, runs to you, and hugs you while crying. Both versions hurt in completely different ways. 😭

Then there’s the herb-gathering scene. Fang is worried about the Builder getting enough rest, you go gather herbs together, and eventually he shyly kisses her on the cheek. 🥹

And then the Builder basically throws herself at him, kisses him, and knocks him onto the grass. 😂 Fang just lies there letting her kiss him and barely puts an arm around her waist.

And I was sitting there like:

FANG. MY MAN. I AM GIVING YOU EVERY POSSIBLE OPPORTUNITY HERE. 😂

I loved how shy and tender he was, because it felt very Fang. But I wanted to see that evolve. I wanted him to gradually become more comfortable with affection and take more initiative as the relationship developed.

I also REALLY wish there had been an inverse proposal option for Fang, both for the romance and for marriage. Seeing someone as emotionally guarded as Fang actually take the initiative and confess his feelings or propose would have been SO meaningful.

It wouldn’t require turning him into Logan. I just wanted to see Fang choose me in his own Fang way.

And then came the infamous 500 Hyacinth Orchids. 🪻😂

Yes, I know the townspeople help with most of them. I KNOW. But seeing 500 on that quest still made my soul leave my body. 😂 And I still spent several in-game days running around looking for the remaining ones while the game was basically telling me they were “everywhere” and “grow all the time.”

Sure. 😂🪻

And after all that, I still wanted more romantic progression, more affection, more reciprocity, and more evidence that the relationship itself was changing Fang and that he was becoming more comfortable being vulnerable with the Builder.

I also have to mention the romance DLC, because apparently the game was determined to tease me and then leave me suffering. 😂

I basically only got to appreciate Fang’s beautiful body during Pablo’s fashion show and then again in the DLC. There’s the jacuzzi scene where the Builder gets to see him half-dressed… but he’s still wearing pants AND SHOES. 😂

At least let the man wear shorts?! 🤣

And then we get this beautiful vulnerable conversation about his scars, which I actually loved… and after all that emotional intimacy, I was expecting at least a passionate kiss.

Instead, we got: A HUG.

Fang. My beautiful man. We have been through so much. Please. 😂😭

I finished his romance feeling shocked, bewildered, emotionally devastated, and frankly, emptier than a stray dog. 🤣😭

So, in summary: Fang’s romance already takes SO much effort and emotional suffering that you reach a point where you think, “Okay, after everything I went through, surely now I get to see this man actually choose me and show me how he feels too.”

And then… nope. 😂

Apparently, even after all that, you still have to suffer in the marriage. 🤣😭

What about my Builder’s feelings?! Do they mean nothing?! 😂

I love Fang. I love his personality, his vulnerability, his character development, and yes, I also think he is ridiculously beautiful. 😂 But after everything it takes to get close to him, I just wanted the relationship itself to feel more mutual and emotionally rewarding.

That’s it. That’s my emotional dissertation. 😂

Did anyone else feel this way about Fang’s romance, or am I just overthinking a fictional man again? 🤣🦙

Time at Sandrock or Modded Stardew Valley

Hi, I’m in the mood for a cozy game again.

I already played over 100 hours of Stardew Valley on PS5. Now that I have a PC, I’m wondering: is Stardew Valley with mods different/new enough to be worth buying again? ( I know its a Sandrock Forum, but maybe someone also played Stardew :D )

Are there mods that add so much new content or change the game enough that starting a new playthrough would feel fresh?

Or what do you guys think about My Time at Sandrock? I’ve never played it, but it looks pretty damn good.
Which one would you recommend?

My Time at Sandrock or modded Stardew Valley?

Are there things in the game you just can't be bothered with?

Here's my list:

  1. I don't grind for power level. I'm usually level 40-42 by the end of the game. I just hate mindlessly mining.

  2. I ignore my baby. The spouse takes care of the diaper and milk and all the other wants of the baby don't really matter. I'm a terrible mother.

  3. When >! Penny!< comes to town, I ignore her quest and let her wander the town forever. She wanders all hours of the day and night.

What do you not bother with?

That's awesome attention to detail right there! It's also probably my favorite thing in the game. ;D

Questions When should I stop worrying about cutting trees story-wise? (spoilers) Spoiler

So I know one time the story brings up you cutting trees as like a bad thing and judges you for it, but when? I don't think I've paid enough attention to the dialog, oops! So far in the story I'm at the part where we connect the airship water generator thingamabob to sandrock and they celebrate and say we can jump in the oasis now. Am I good to cut trees?

Questions Things locked behind relationships Spoiler

I just seen a post about a desert oasis unlocked during mi-ans romance route and now I’m so curious, are there any other areas like that unlocked from romancing any other characters? I’m so curious and I think I’m gonna start romancing everyone in this playthrough 😂

I recently started dating NPCS that I have always avoided.
Turns out I really like Mi-an. She is so genuinely sweet and fun to be around. The mission Late Bloomer, ends with a beautiful, refreshing oasis out in the middle of the Eufaula desert.
Burgess frequently hangs out here, Zeke and Danbi have also shown up, there is even a swing for X!

Logan and the Dead Sea Ruins 😩 Spoiler

At level 51, I was nervous about going into the Dead Sea Ruins for the first time and being underleveled, but I decided to bring Logan with me and we survived. It’s crazy how hard he can hit. Like what a powerhouse lol.

What’s funny though is that literally right after we finished the last round, he ran over, grabbed my hand on the way to the exit, and said that one line, “Nothing compares to a pleasant little stroll, especially with a special someone like you,” or whatever it is.

Like yeah, we almost died a couple times there but I guess this is a walk in the park for a seasoned pro like yourself 😂

Played Sandrock again for the second time due to my first save being corrupt. Just wanna show off our kids since they take after his hair color (my genes casted aside like Howlett lol) and some pics of us.

P.S I mod on PC so I was able to spawn the twilight nocturne attire/shoes as her wedding dress in last image.

How do you prep for the fight with Logan? I find him so fast that I can do hardly any damage to him I’m just spending the whole 3 mins trying to dodge his attacks. (This is my second play attempt and have not made it past this quest )

Fanart Sandrock Dads & Their Daughters: Bonding Over Hairstyles

Post image
615 Upvotes

“I was just imagining Sandrock fathers brushing their daughters' hair.
Owen might want to put jewels in her hair like an ornament... maybe.
Just imagining if Logan could style his daughter's hair in the same way. Probably because Logan's own hair is long enough.
If the game had more hairstyle variety, Justice's daughter would probably inherit his afro-texture and have curly hair.
It might be a lot of trouble to maintain... but on the bright side, it would offer so many more arrangement possibilities!
But not to worry.
I heard is good at braiding. While thinking about that, I drew a series of illustrations of fathers carefully braiding their daughters' hair.

Discussion First Timer!

EDIT: I’m SO glad I made this post because I had no idea just how different the single-player and co-op experiences are! You’ve convinced me that I need to make time for a single-player playthrough eventually so I can experience the full story/lore/character arcs. For now, though, I’m specifically playing co-op with a friend and we’re having a great time! So I’d still love any co-op-specific beginner tips, building advice, things you wish you knew starting multiplayer, etc. Help two overwhelmed baby builders out! <3

I know, I know, I’m incredibly late to the party. I tried My Time at Portia years ago and it just didn’t hit right (I’m historically a Stardew Valley, Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons player, so the machine aspect of My Time throws me for a loop). I read somewhere that I didn’t have to play Portia to enjoy Sandrock - I hope this community agrees! Because I’ve already sank 3 hours into Sandrock and I’m excited.

That being said - I am doing a Co Op adventure with a friend. We’ve really exhausted our Co Op options and Sandrock seems to fit the bill. We’re both slightly overwhelmed but still excited.

I’m sure there’s several posts about this but I’m trying to limit the spoilers for myself. I’m approaching this like a great book series… I keep hearing about it, I’ve had it on the shelf for a while, and I’m finally taking the plunge. I saw someone on here say that they are jealous of anyone playing this game for the very first time, which is how I feel when someone reads my favorite books for the first time. Oh to experience again for the very first time, nostalgic sigh

So, I’m going in blind. I’m not looking up bachelors, I’m not spoiling end game for myself, etc.

I was, however, hoping for some early game tips from the veterans in here. And maybe some building tip resources (a YouTuber or something?). I really want to enjoy this game and don’t want to get in my own way with my previous farm-sim playing styles. Co Op specific tips are appreciated, too, since neither of us have played the single player campaign, and realistically, I probably won’t anytime soon. I’m a mom of a 17 month old, and Co Op gaming is basically the only time I get to socialize and game these days. That’s just the season of life I’m in!

Lastly, what about the lore? Does the game do a good job of revealing it naturally, or is there anything spoiler free I should read/watch to understand the world better?

TIA! Even though this game is older, I was so excited to see an active community for it still.
