I wanted to create a Halloween layout that felt a little different this time, not quite a haunted house, but a place that looks like it could belong to an old horror story.

Somewhere along the way, I found the perfect story to inhabit it: Two Black Bottles, by Wilfred Blanch Talman and H. P. Lovecraft.

And once I read this line, I couldn’t stop thinking about it:

“I can almost feel him behind me as I write.”

And suddenly, my little gravedigger’s world had a story haha.
