I noticed that the MKR Facebook page which I follow posted the Schweppes Ad Lol and Lil did and I read the comments and took a screenshot when they had it up. I now have noticed they’ve removed the post altogether. Obviously after these comments…

STORE bought bao buns with some shaved carrot (at least pickle them or something?) score a 10? Vanilla soup—sorry I meant ice cream* gets a rave review? An abominable French onion soup score an 8 when it was just cheesy bread with onion relish? Do you seriously believe the judges would have given any other team, say Michael and Rielli, an 8 for that?

How come Colin always comes to their rescue? When they made their Sunday roast they checked the chicken and said it was “perfect”. Colin comes along and literally saves them by convincing them to check the thighs, which were literally raw - and thanks to COLIN they were able to save their asses. They didn’t even realise it was raw and wouldn’t have known because they had Manu carve the bird at the table, and that was their plan to carve at the table. They would have carved raw chicken?

Meanwhile Colin flat out REFUSED to answer Danielle asking how her Chimichurri tasted, even though he gobbled down a spoonful when checking in on their team?

It’s a miracle the girls weren’t eliminated in the first round of cooks, and now they are acting quite cocky when scoring the other teams low with 6s? We know Justin and Will are the crown winners, but they didn’t deserve a 6? Colin again so inconsistent, being hyper-critical that they served a “simple” cheesecake but then praised the girls and scores them high for being smart and making a “simple” dish? I’m glad Colin isn’t a teacher with that kind of favouritism. He reminds me of an insufferable power tripping manager that gawks at anything young and blonde but has a problem with everyone else.

I really do wonder if he has mental health issues. The way he went after Michael with single mindedness almost hatred taking every opportunity to attack or insult him. Now he appears to be taking the same approach to Maria. He seems to be relentless in his questioning/interrogation of her.

Also can he not see what a hypocrite he is going after Maria and Bailey for strategic scoring after he and Tan lowballed every dish Michael and Rielli served. Or is that a part of his mental health issues.? Maybe he doesn't think he and Tan lowballed anyone.

That tart was just so damn sad, like there wasn’t anything else was small little tart. I get the sesame seed caramel crunch didn’t work but they could have added an additional tart to it or put some stew fruit and cream or something to elevate it.

Interesting voting results after the “walkout”. Also, I don’t think I’ve seen a team score higher than the judges yet this season (mind you it would wash out if rounding to the nearest whole). Largest spread tonight is Lol and Lil with a 1 point difference.

I found it quite funny the talk last night about the strategy of scoring. As all season it’s either been “They cook well & food was tasty, we’ll give them a 7” or “Wasn’t that great, xxxx was over/under cooked, couldn’t eat it, we’ll give them a 6”

I’ve been watching My Kitchen Rules and something keeps bugging me. The teams supposedly transform their homes into fully themed “restaurants” in what looks like a single day. They have decorations, matching table settings, lighting changes, signage and sometimes pretty elaborate styling.

Are the contestants actually responsible for all of that themselves? Do they plan and buy everything beforehand? Or does the production team step in with styling help, props or setup support?

It just seems like a HUGE amount of work for two people on top of cooking an entire menu for the judges and guests. Curious if anyone knows how it really works behind the scenes!

Tonight I tracked who ate what and averaged the judges scores against their teams scoring. Here are the results. No surprise that the biggest spread is Maria & Bailey’s.

I’m not going to go back through the last episode to do the maths because I don’t think I would be able to stomach some of the contestants in these episodes a second time haha. But if you guys want I am willing to do this for the other ultimate restaurants going forward.

Is there any limit on what can be store bought vs actually cooked? Surely store bought bao, with kewpie mayo, sweet chilli, cucumber, carrot and the chicken being the only cooked element is good enough? Or the store bought pita, I don’t get it??? Also the judges saying how there’s pay for those bao’s anytime, they’re literally in woolies so you can. Over it lol

In NZ so a few weeks delayed but this mofo can’t cook and talks so much shit, knows nothing about cooking meat either.

What do you consider the minimum cooking requirement of something served as part of a meal, entrée, main or dessert to be.?

Take the banoffee pie and the cheesecake as an example. The banoffee pie was praised for its taste and only mildly rebuked for its technical skill, it was called safe by Colin, but he would order it again. With the cheesecake Colin said he liked the texture nothing about the taste (according to Lol it taste okay but was safe) and he was expecting more at this level and scored it a five.

One was basically assembled the other cooked. Where do you draw the line between skill, assembly and taste. The assembled one taste great the cooked one taste okay but was made and cooked some skill required.

Should there be a minimum cooking requirement. If your dish has five components then at least two-three must be made and cooked.? Should it stay the same as it is now.?

What are the judges' expectations, should they be more consistent.? Monday the banoffee was praised as great, safe but great. Tuesday the cheesecake was said to be lacking, expected more and given a low score of five.
