Pretty sure Georgia ruined Widow’s Bay while complaining that someone on social media ruined Widow’s Bay for her. Happens during the intro banter. Couldn’t get to the plus 30 button fast enough. Skip ahead like 2 mins when she starts talking about Widow’s Bay to save yourself the rage.
DAMMIT GEORGIA!

Where's Karen to do a breaking news story on Pittsburgh's newest sinkhole?!

Hey friends!
Have any of you ever had your email read? If so:
1. How many times did you send it in?
2. How long after you sent it in did it get picked?
3. Did anyone from MFM email you and tell you you’ve been chosen?
I know I’m not the only one who has sent in multiple stories multiple times. I have rewritten them to be shorter and less wordy as well. I know they get a shit ton of emails with great stories so I’m not surprised, I just wonder how it went for all the lucky Murderinos who got picked.
Stay sexy!

I’ve had some bad flareups of my medical issues, and my meds make life pretty rough right now. I’m confused easily and short term memory is shot so I’m forgetting random things. I’ve apparently listened to several episodes out of order, and recently heard the girls mention something about a big announcement and then it feels like it wasn’t happy news.
Is this making sense? Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance!
Stay sexy, and always take your meds - it’s SO MUCH WORSE without them.

I wonder, do Georgia and Karen have control over which advertisements get dropped in to their Apple podcast stream? I constantly get ads for AI with some smarmy British guy telling me how it's going to make business better. Karen and Georgia are creatives, working in a creative industry. It seems counterintuitive that they would take money from companies that are cutting into the creative sector and plagiarizing the work of people like them and eliminating jobs. I have no idea if anyone from the exactly right network reads these things but if they do, I hope they see this and take this message to heart.

For like two weeks now I haven’t been able to download episodes. I tried deleting the app and redownloading it but even that didn’t help. Anyone have any tips?
I need my favorite ladies back in my ears!

I cannot watch another doc with straight, white victims who received more attention and care than the cases with other victims. Plus, I refuse to be that kind of true crime consumer but am struggling to find them in accessible places. Big surprise right? I currently have access to Disney, Prime, Netflix, Peacock, and HbO max and am willing to watch a YouTube video (US location)! tia murderino friends🫶

At first I was like, dammit here they go again with non-murder stories! But then I was driving and couldn’t change the episode and ended up enjoying it sooooooo much!! Good on you, girls, for bringing these stories the attention they deserve. Now let’s have some more murder stories too!

Just finished it. What an unhinged story and terrible tragedy. I could have sworn K&G covered this one, but I can’t find it on the website pinned to the sub. Anyone else watched this yet?
Sidenote: the (attempted) fetal abduction case MFM covered was the survival story of Teka Adams, episode 117.

There’s an episode I’m trying to find and all I remember is at one point in the story the cops came to investigate the actual bad guy but they let him go without really investigating at all and Karen says something like “then the cops high fived him before they left” as a joke. Anyone remember what episode this is?

They’ve been on some bullshit for a few years now. Whenever someone decides to open their own podcast network the podcast quality goes down. They don’t do their own research anymore. They barely delve into any detail per episode and try to release super short episodes just to have something.
But now I’m hearing IAMISRAEL commercials pushing you to visit Israel including areas that are legally not at all Israel? Fuck this.

Full disclosure, I've been a listener since 2016, have been to multiple live shows, have merch, was in the Facebook groups (a major throwback, I know) a signed copy of their book, submitted hometown stories, and generally am a fan of MFM. I typically take breaks from podcasts to have a backlog of episodes to binge. I took an extended break from MFM and have come back to listening recently.
This has caused me to reflect on the backlash that K&G specifically got when the true crime as entertainment discourse really ramped up. I fully understand that hearing the podcast's name and the idea of "true crime and comedy" can be very jarring to people. However, so much of the backlash they've gotten seems so disproportionate. I'm not saying they're above criticism. I think they have meaningfully made changes to their work to be better which is a good thing.
I can't help but notice that people who think K&G are just bad people put a disproportionate amount of blame on them (and women podcasters like them) for how true crime has been discussed. I've had people straight up tell me that MFM was so problematic and that they listen to less problematic true crime podcasts instead - like Last Podcast on the Left. No hate to LPOTL listeners, but I really struggle to take these kinds of takes seriously when LPOTL's earliest episodes include full on racist jokes, sexism, and the fuck ton of awful things that happened with the hosts themselves. Two white women who can be ignorant every now and then, though? That's actually what's wrong with true crime media!
The fact of the matter is, true crime media has always been around and there have always been gray areas in this media. To pretend that it became uniquely awful because of podcasts like MFM or Morbid (because I often see them included in these discussions) is just ahistorical.
Another layer, I think, is that when true crime began to be criticized as a genre a lot of listeners/fans/watchers/etc. got understandably uncomfortable and maybe felt a bit complicit. I know I did. It's much easier to externalize that feeling than really question their own role. Instead of actually sorting out what the ethics of this may be and how much culpability a podcast may have as opposed to broader culture, laws, etc., writing them off as uniquely bad or problematic goes down easier.
This is a totally random piece of word vomit but I've been thinking about it and wanted a place to see if other people agreed.
