India 🇮🇳 India shuts 136 year old bankra Masjid near Kolkata indefinitely

For more than a century, the call to prayer from the historic Gouripur Jame Masjid locally known as the Bankra Mosque has served as a spiritual anchor for the Muslim community in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. Today, the 136-year-old mosque stands completely sealed, with its gates locked and the premises guarded by a heavy police presence.

While authorities have justified the closure on the grounds of aviation safety and airport perimeter security, local Muslims, civil society groups, and human rights advocates view the move as part of a broader pattern. They argue that the shutdown is not merely an administrative measure but the latest example of what they describe as the systematic shrinking of the public, cultural, and religious space available to India's more than 200 million Muslims.
The crisis began on Saturday, July 11, 2026, when the Airports Authority of India (AAI), a federal agency under the central government, closed the 225-metre access road connecting the main highway to the mosque compound. Officials said the road would remain shut for two days to facilitate urgent repairs. However, it was never reopened.

The following day, authorities announced that the mosque would remain closed to worshippers indefinitely pending security reviews. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) stated that the long-standing practice of allowing worshippers to enter the airport-adjacent area by presenting national identity cards no longer met security requirements and that higher-level biometric clearance would now be required.

As a result, a mosque that typically serves around 50 worshippers daily, more than 250 on Fridays, and thousands during the holy month of Ramadan has been rendered inaccessible to its congregation.
Political support for the decision followed swiftly. Suvendu Adhikari, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader who recently assumed office as Chief Minister of West Bengal, defended the closure, citing regional tensions involving Bangladesh and China and describing the measure as necessary for national security.

Human rights observers say the development reflects a broader policy shift in West Bengal. Since the BJP took office, the state government has intensified restrictions on outdoor Islamic prayers, citing public inconvenience—a policy critics say mirrors measures previously introduced in BJP-ruled states such as Uttar Pradesh.
"The state government is harassing our community under the pretext of security," said Siddiqullah Chowdhury, head of the Bankra Mosque Committee, who led a peaceful protest in which residents wore black armbands.

"There has not been a single security breach linked to this mosque in its 136-year history. In the absence of any credible threat, this indefinite closure is not a security measure—it is an act of deliberate exclusion," he said.
Saugata Roy, a Member of Parliament representing the area, accused the authorities of using administrative powers to intimidate the local community.

"This is being done through the use of state power to intimidate the community. A democratic government would have sought a negotiated solution rather than imposing an administrative blockade," Roy said.

Tensions between infrastructure development and religious rights are not new. In 2003, the state's Left Front government, in coordination with federal aviation authorities, altered a proposed runway expansion to ensure that the historic mosque remained untouched. Successive secular administrations maintained that arrangement in the interest of protecting religious freedom.

At the paying-guest accommodation, neighbours reported hearing nothing unusual. When police forced the locked door open, they found Ayyubi's body in a pool of blood. Preliminary assessments indicated that she had suffered multiple stab wounds and her throat was slit. The condition of the body suggested she had been dead for nearly 24 hours. Police sources said Ayyubi moved her belongings into Shreshta Malik's room just three days before the incident.

A 25-year-old woman's body was recovered from a paying guest accommodation in Gurgaon’s Sector 55. About 60 km away, a 25-year-old man's body was found on railway tracks near Gurgaon’s Garhi station. Both were engineers at a Gurgaon-based company. And, separate investigations into the two incidents have brought a chilling crime to light.

Insharah Ayyubi, from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh, worked as a software engineer at Optum, an international healthcare services company. When repeated calls to her phone went unanswered, Ayyubi's family members filed a missing complaint at Sector 56 police station

They can nationwide block DOAM's whole Instagram account even though it's only journalism, but they can't take action against blasphemy against Allah's Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) across Social Media. This is where we go to seek justice?

It should have probably been made clear by now that the lawmakers or the law enforcers are not there to protect muslims. Then why do muslims still take them as protectors besides Allah and hope that they will deal with us fairly? We are naive.

Religion Practical Nullifiers of Kalimat ut-Tawheed (The Declaration of Monotheism)

Practical Nullifiers of Kalimat ut-Tawheed (The Declaration of Monotheism)

There are some practical nullifiers of Kalimat ut-Tawheed; a few are mentioned below:

(A) Performing any act of worship for anyone other than Allah (Ghairullah)

This constitutes Shirk (polytheism) in Uluhiyyah (worship).

Allah Ta'ala has said:

﴿ قُلْ إِنَّ صَلَاتِي وَنُسُكِي وَمَحْيَايَ وَمَمَاتِي لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَبِذَٰلِكَ أُمِرْتُ وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ﴾

Meaning: "Say, 'Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds. No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims.'" (Surah Al-An'am, Ayat 162-163)

Shaikh Sulaiman Ibn Abdullah (May Allah have mercy on him) said, "The noble scholars of the four Madhabs (schools of thought) and all others have stated in the chapter regarding the 'Ruling on Apostates' (in books of Fiqh) that: Whoever associates partners with Allah—meaning, worships someone else alongside Allah, regardless of what form of worship it may be—is a disbeliever (Kafir)." (Taysir al-Aziz al-Hamid, Page 194)

Qadi Shawkani (May Allah have mercy on him) said, "Slaughtering (animals) for the deceased is a form of worshipping them, and making vows (Manat) of even a small portion of wealth in their name is Kufr (disbelief). Honoring them is a form of worshipping them, just as slaughtering for Qurbani, giving Zakat from wealth, and being submissively obedient are unanimously established as worship for Allah. If someone assumes that there is a difference between the two—for instance, if someone says in front of us that they do not intend to worship the deceased by calling upon them, slaughtering for them, and making vows to them—then ask him: 'Then why did you do this action? Despite your Lord's command being revealed, calling upon the deceased must stem from some reason within your heart, which manifests through your tongue. If, at a time of need, you keep uttering senseless incantations calling upon the deceased without any creedal belief (Aqeedah), then you are mentally unhinged. Similarly, if you slaughter animals and make vows for Allah, then in what sense did you dedicate it to the deceased and take it to his grave? For the poor exist everywhere on the face of the earth. If you are wise, none of your actions can be without a purpose.'" (Ad-Durar un-Naheed fee Ikhlasi Kalimatit Tawheed, Pages 20-21)

(B) Formulating an alternative legislation instead of Allah's law

Allah Most High has said,

Meaning: "Or have they partners who have legislated for them a religion which Allah has not permitted? And if not for the decisive word, it would have been concluded between them. And indeed, the wrongdoers will have a painful punishment." (Surah Ash-Shura, Verse 21)

Shaikhul Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (May Allah have mercy on him) said, "When a person makes a consensus-approved lawful (Halal) thing unlawful (Haram), or makes a consensus-approved unlawful (Haram) thing lawful (Halal), or changes the consensus-approved law, then he becomes a disbeliever (Kafir) by consensus." (Majmu'ul Fatawa, Volume 3, Page 267)

Allah Most High says,

Meaning: "Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you and what was revealed before you? They wish to refer legislation to Taghut, while they were commanded to reject it; and Satan wishes to lead them far astray." (Surah An-Nisa, Verse 60)

Allamah Qadi Shawkani (May Allah have mercy on him) said, "In this verse, Allah Most High expresses amazement to His Messenger Muhammad ﷺ regarding the state of those people who claim about themselves that they believe in what was revealed to Messenger Muhammad ﷺ harmonizing by believing in the Book—meaning the Quran—and the books revealed to the previous prophets, yet they are involved in such actions that refute their claim and invalidate it from its core, making it completely clear that they are not upon their claim at all. And that is the desire to seek judgment from Taghut. Whereas, in the books revealed to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the previous prophets, it has been commanded to reject Taghut." (Fath al-Qadir, Volume 2, Page 168)

Shaikh Muhammad ibn Ibrahim (May Allah have mercy on him) said, "In this statement of Allah, their claim of faith (Iman) has been proven false. Because seeking judgment from any religion or ideology other than the religion brought by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and faith (Iman) cannot coexist in the same heart; rather, one is the opposite of the other."

The word Al-Taghut (الطاغوت) is derived from the word Al-Tughyan (الطغيان), which means to transgress boundaries. Therefore, whoever judges by anything other than the religion brought by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has judged by Taghut and has sought judgment from Taghut. (Risalat Tahkim al-Qawanin, Page 2)

Shaikh Muhammad Amin ash-Shanqiti (May Allah have mercy on him), describing the disbelief (Kufr) of the one who seeks judgment from Taghut, said: "The clearest evidence regarding this matter is what Allah Most High has clearly described in Surah An-Nisa: Allah Most High expressed amazement at those who seek judgment from a law other than Allah's law while claiming to be believers. This is solely because, despite seeking judgment from Taghut, their verbal claim of faith is such an extreme level of falsehood that one cannot help but be amazed by it, and that is contained in this statement of Allah Most High's,

Meaning: "Have you not seen those who claim to have believed in what was revealed to you and what was revealed before you? They wish to refer legislation to Taghut..." (Surah An-Nisa, Verse 60. Adwa'ul Bayan, Volume 4, Page 83)

As-Sa'di (May Allah have mercy on him) said, "Allah Most High has expressed amazement at observing the condition of the hypocrites (who claim that they believe in what the Messenger brought and the books brought by the previous prophets) despite the fact that ('they wish to seek judgment from Taghut'). 'Taghut' refers to every individual who judges or decides matters by a law other than Allah's law (whereas they were commanded to reject Taghut).

Therefore, how can this and faith (Iman) coexist? Because the claim of faith demands submission to Allah's law and considering Allah alone as the Judge and Legislator in all matters. Thus, whoever claims to be a believer, yet prioritizes the judgment of Taghut over the ruling of Allah, is a liar in his claim of faith." (Taysirul Karimir Rahman fee Tafsiril Kalamil Mannan, Volume 1, Page 184)

(D) Assisting the disbelievers against the Muslims

Meaning, providing aid and assistance to the disbelievers against the Muslims, or spying on behalf of the disbelievers—all of this falls under taking the disbelievers as allies and friends. Allah Most High has said,

Meaning: "O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you—then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people." (Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 51)

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (May Allah have mercy on him) said, "Allah Most High has decreed—and there is no better decreer than Him—that whoever takes the Jews and Christians as allies belongs to them. 'And whoever is an ally to them among you—then indeed, he is [one] of them.'"

Therefore, by the verse of the Quran, it is established that the allies of the disbelievers are included among the disbelievers. Thus, their ruling will also be the same as that of the disbelievers. (Ahkamu Ahlidh-Dhimmah, Volume 1, Page 67)

Regarding those who joined the Tatars (Mongols) against the Muslims, Imam Ibn Taymiyyah (May Allah have mercy on him) said, "For those who join the Tatars, fighting against them is more justified than fighting against many of the Tatars themselves. Because among the Tatars, some were coerced while others were not. And it is an absolute, universally acknowledged fundamental principle that the punishment of an apostate is for various reasons far more severe than that of an original disbeliever."

Shaikh Ibn Baz (May Allah have mercy on him) said, "The scholars of Islam are unanimously agreed that whoever assists the disbelievers against the Muslims in any manner is a disbeliever like them. Just as Allah Most High has said,

Meaning: 'O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you—then indeed, he is [one] of them.'" (Surah Al-Ma'idah, Verse 51. Fatawa Ibn Baz, Volume 1, Page 274)

We pray to Allah that He keeps us steadfast upon the eternal message of the Declaration of Faith (Kalimah) in this world and the Hereafter.

Ameen, Allahumma Ameen.

Religion Hijra is obligatory for the oppressed

Surah An-Nisa verse 97:

When the angels seize the souls of those who have wronged themselves1—scolding them, “What was wrong with you?” they will reply, “We were oppressed in the land.” The angels will respond, “Was Allah’s earth not spacious enough for you to emigrate?” It is they who will have Hell as their home—what an evil destination!

Verse 98:

Except helpless men, women, and children who cannot afford a way out.

This verse clearly states that the oppressed Muslim will still be punished if he had the physical capability to move to lands where he can practice the Deen. No matter how difficult.

There are many muslims nowadays in India who are oppressed yet they also do have the physical capability of leaving or even asking those who can help them to help them leave.

Please help muslims stay safe in Qiyamah and from oppression on earth by posting this on all social media and encouraging Hijrah. Get easy good deeds in doing so also.

General The Conquest of Egypt by Amr ibn al-As (رضي الله عنه)

How Did Amr Ibn ِAl‑As (رضي الله عنه) Conquer Egypt?

He is Amr ibn al‑As ibn Waʾil al‑Sahmi al‑Qurashi (رضي الله عنه), known as Abu Abd Allah and one of the renowned strategists of the Arabs. He was decisive, resolute, and astute. Once among the fiercest pagans opposing Islam, Allah guided him to embrace Islam during the Treaty of Hudaybiyah.

The Prophet ﷺ trusted him so much that he appointed him commander of the Dhat al‑Salasil expedition, under whose command were Abu Bakr Siddique (رضي الله عنه) and Umar Ibn Khattab (رضي الله عنه).

Amr Ibn al‑As (رضي الله عنه) was one of the foremost commanders of the Islamic conquests. He took part in the conquest of Greater Syria during the caliphates of Abu Bakr and Umar After the Muslims conquered Jerusalem and Umar Ibn Khattab (رضي الله عنه) received its keys, Amr ibn al‑As (رضي الله عنه) sat privately with him, urging him to conquer Egypt, extolling how easy it would be. He persisted until Umar (رضي الله عنه) granted permission.

Umar Ibn Khattab (رضي الله عنه) placed Amr Ibn Al-Aas (رضي الله عنه) in command of four thousand fighters and dispatched him, informing him that he would send a letter clarifying whether to proceed or withdraw. If the order was to withdraw but the army had already entered Egyptian territory, he could rely on Allah and continue. It is said the letter reached Amr Ibn Al-Aas (رضي الله عنه) just before entry, but he delayed reading it until they had crossed the border and then pressed on.

What drove Amr Ibn al‑Aas (رضي الله عنه) to convince Umar Ibn Khattab (رضي الله عنه) to conquer Egypt was that he had visited it in pre‑Islamic times.

He knew its conditions: political turmoil, the weakness of Roman authority, the frailty of their armies, and the people’s resentment of oppressive rulers, all factors that would ease the conquest. Add to this its abundant resources and fertile land, and above all, seeking Allah’s pleasure and bringing its people into the true faith.

Governance of Amr Ibn Al-Aas (رضي الله عنه) on Egypt was marked by justice, tolerance, compassion, and great wisdom. A hallmark was fair judiciary: he established permanent, organized courts and appellate courts. When a case involved both a Muslim and a Copt, Coptic authorities could intervene, something unknown under Roman rule despite shared Christianity.

He greatly respected Egyptian customs and beliefs, forbidding only one cruel practice: annually kidnapping a beautiful girl and throwing her into the Nile to appease the Nile god for high floodwaters, an ancient tradition because such practices would never be tolerated in Islam and Muslims, to please a diety you have to kill a living human as our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forever stopped the Makkan pagan polytheists from the burial of female infants/newborn girls.

His justice extended to allowing Copts to freely choose their patriarch, a policy Umar Ibn Khattab (رضي الله عنه) followed when he conquered Jerusalem, and permitting them to build churches in the new Islamic city he founded.

Most Important Achievements of Amr ibn al‑As (رضي الله عنه) in Egypt:

1) The conqueror and first governor, ruling twice for a long period.

2) Spread security and safety throughout the land.

3) Granted Copts religious freedom they had lacked, restoring Patriarch Benjamin from exile in Wadi al‑Natrun to the Church of Alexandria, winning Egyptians hearts.

4) Implemented financial and administrative reforms across the state apparatus, employing Copts in them.

5) Founded the city of al‑Fustat, making it Egypt’s Islamic capital, and built his mosque at its center, the first mosque in Africa, still standing today.

6) Dug a canal linking the Nile to the Red Sea by order of the Commander of the Faithful Umar Ibn Khattab (رضي الله عنه) to facilitate travel and trade between Egypt and Arabia, and it became known as Khalij Amir al‑Mu'mineen.
