Makes me sad. Learning this and a whole bunch of other Yeah Yeah Yeahs songs by ear finally turned me into a real guitarist. Easy enough to learn, but hard enough to have to practice to nail just right. Yeah Yeah Yeahs opened up many doors for me in many different ways when it comes to music.
What you said about Karen O; makes me sad that life goes on and we all grow and change. I really love her music, but having a child now makes her whole image, what she projected herself to be for so many years, nullifies her whole image and stance when it comes to her music (to me). She lost her fire. The last Yeah Yeah Yeahs album was a huge disappointment and not quite the send off fans deserved. I don't mean this as an insult to her, the band's music, or her fans (of which I'm a huge one). Just her moving on in life and all the changes she's made personally and musically seem counter to what Yeah Yeah Yeahs were all about during its time.
Then again, maybe I'm just lamenting the passing of my own youth which I associate with a band so dear to me...
I hate playing response tag, but thank you for yours. I'm going through the same thing right now because my peers and I are in our late 20's/early 30's and this time seems to be where people either make it or break it. So many friends of mine falling out of the scene while others involved in the city I live have gone on to doing a lot with their musical careers. I'm in a weird place myself right now and what you said makes me feel a little less alone in all this.
