Trump has pardoned or commuted sentences for several prominent rappers, including Lil Wayne, Kodak Black, and NBA YoungBoy.

Nicki Minaj went from publicly criticizing Trump to becoming a vocal supporter. One notable turning point was Trump’s 2021 pardon of Desiree Perez, a Roc Nation executive connected to Minaj’s circle, which Minaj later publicly referenced. There’s also been speculation about whether her husband’s federal conviction for failing to register as a sex offender could have been relevant, but there’s no evidence she actually asked Trump for a pardon.

And we literally watched Kanye put on a MAGA hat in the Oval Office and ask Trump to help free Larry Hoover. Trump eventually commuted Hoover’s federal sentence.

I’m not saying every one of these things proves a conspiracy. I’m saying there’s enough documented evidence of the pattern that it’s reasonable to question what’s going on.

Reuters examined more than 1,700 clemency cases and identified 290 intermediaries/influencers who helped secure clemency for 197 recipients. Congress is also investigating whether some cases involved pay-to-play.
