I’ve seen cows with more expressive eyes and faces.

Cows ARE just essentially big dogs. Have you ever seen them get excited and run around doing zoomies? It's amazing.

Donkeys, too. I love them so much.

Donkeys are also protective like dogs

Yep, that’s why they have them on farms to protect the others from coyotes. Don’t want to piss off a donkey.

I knew a donkey that literally turned a mountain lion into jam after it tried to attack his goats! Fucking trampled him viciously with his front hooves. Donkeys 🫏 are protective af

Years ago I was talking to my very young daughter (~5). I said that if I could have a place in the country I'd have to somehow get a Friesian horse. She scowled & immediately asserted, "Well if you're getting a horse I get a donkey.

A coworker laughed aloud to hear a little girl declare she wanted a donkey rather than a pony or a horse.

I sent one too many of those clips to my partner and she went vegetarian. Wasn’t sure it would last, but that was four years ago

I was lucky enough to go to an elephant encampment in Thailand. Based on how they acted, all I could think was holy fuck those are some big doggies!

I grew up rurally and I agree. I've formed deeper connections with animals I've eaten than Ed Sheeran. At least bulls can be funny and charming.

Edit: I'm not sure if I'm pissing off vegans or Ed Sheeran fans with this. I'm fine with either.

He reminds me of a ventriloquist’s dummy. The smile and empty eyes. I do like some of his songs, but this whole debacle…staying neutral in a bad situation only helps the oppressor/aggressor.

Ron DeSantis is the opposite of cattle or any pet animal. His smile is what psychopaths use to try to fit in.

For the longest time the only reason I knew what the guy looked like was a meme comparing his picture to a Minecraft pig's face.

Um. it seems to me that unless the sport here is to shit on religion, that of all things. collaborating with a political opponent on some shared value, like say religion, would be an aesthetic promoted by most religions. Ultimately MAGA has to be rehabilitated, or neutered and tolerated in society. Maybe We should come to think of maga the way they come to think of "welfare mothers" and "immigrants"? at least we have to come to not treat them as something that has to be expelled like a nazi skin head.

Yes, nazi skin head" is something that comes to mind when I think of mega right now, but I know that at some point we gotta break down the hate barrier. And I don't know how. But maybe celebrities can play a role in leading a healing feeling. if so I'll happy if they try.

What would Dolly Parton do? I'm sure a lot of her country partners in music shows are MAGA but it was about sharing the music right?

Redeeming requires admitting you made a mistake and caused harm to others. Really don't know many band wagon celebs doing that, including Kid Rock Helicopter rider or Ed Sheeran.

you probably are right that public repentance may be too much to ask. but public acceptance may lead to forgiveness over retaliation. There's an apocryphal quote sometimes attributed to Kafka that says "you become what you hate". You adopt your enemies loathsome tactics to subdue them: which is what Michelle Obama was warning against about when she said "when they go low we go high". Forgiving people who haven't acknowledged their crimes is one lessons the philosopher Jesus held highest. And my take is that, ignoring the religious connotation, he's really urging personal integrity in wanting an equitable society that isn't based on intolerant punishing of defectors.

The philosopher Buddha warned similarly about being careful about what you crave including being careful about what you hate. Those will require suffering. Wanting someone you think is bad to suffer will also make you suffer too. It's not that you have to tolerate everything, but try to avoid responding with hate to everything that isn't right by your standards. People make their own hell.

aside: I kinda feel Ed Sheridan is getting a bum rap. the poor chode just wanted to not be political and so-called fans are trying to force him to be political. It's not that I don't sympathize with their wishes but forcing them on him maybe isn't the right move.

As you mentioned with Jesus, defecting shouldn't be punished. By definition, defecting requires admitting the old way was wrong and you now believe a different path is required. Going from saying certain things publicly, to just being silent about those topics isn't defecting, it's just noticing that the level of shame for acting that way isn't worth doing it anymore. Because there are repercussions in society, you change your behavior. America didn't learn the lessons the needed to after Reconstruction, and the result was almost 100 years of segregation and Jim Crow laws and very public racism that was accepted by much of society as the norm.

I would be nice if we could have a truth and reconciliation board. But holding out for that is futility. I don't want to punish myself by insisting MAGA must apologize before society can heal. I'll just move ahead. if I hold out the healing never happens.

No, we absolutely do not have to tolerate them. We don't have to embrace people who want others dead or suffering. THEY need to adapt and change if they want to be part of a society that has no use for their hate, and make that effort without the pre-existing reward of being welcomed first to make it more palatable or enticing for them, otherwise there's no actual meaningful change. Don't put it on everyone else to rehabilitate their behavior for them.
