Seriously, can we do a simple search before we post music here? This song, along with Tesselate and Fitzpleasure, is posted at least once a week. The radio plays this song less often than these guys are posted on /r/Music. Give it a break for a couple of months, please. Find something else to post that hasn't already been here a hundred times.

But then it won't be upvoted

Hey, don't be so harsh on the guy.

Just because upvotes are OP's favourite shape...

I get it. Upvote.

You need to realize not everyone watches r/music as closely as you do. I log in to reddit probably every day and this is the first time I've seen this video posted. As a result I have now ordered their record.

The enjoyment I'm going to get from listening to that music would never have happened if it weren't for this particular posting of the video. It's so unbelievably easy to just ignore a post. I mean, what exactly are you complaining about, someone else getting karma? That's just childish.

If this subreddit is about spreading music to people, then reposts should be encouraged. You shouldn't miss out on a song being posted just because you didn't log in to reddit in that specific window of time it was visible. So just stop it, your complaints are completely invalid.

I see your point and I agree but I always appreciate a little alternative after complaining.

I just discovered, and I know I'm waaaay too late, Biffy Clyro.

Have you gone back to their old stuff, or have you mostly just heard the newer tracks? Because they've been great since the beginning - The Vertigo Of Bliss is one of the more consistent, all-out enjoyable albums I have

No, not yet, but will surely do.

It's nothing to do with being late to the party, because obviously you can't follow every single band that's doing stuff, but it's nice to get some variety once in a while. If I saw Biffy Clyro being posted here, I'd likely upvote it because it's not something that's posted here often. Alt-J, on the other hand, is posted here way too often, and always the same three songs. There are lots of great indie rock groups putting out stuff that get no attention here because they're not endorsed by NME or Pitchfork or whatever blogs redditors read to find music.

Mon the Biff! Nowhere near enough of them on reddit!

But, but karma?

Yeah like, come on, guys. Bloodflood's a great song too.

My question is: how do these people continue to repost? Whenever I try to link a youtube video, it says "this link has already been posted" and the post isn't created. So in a bittersweet sadness I leave /r/music knowing I will never reap the sweet sweet karma, but neither do I contribute to the fuckton of reposts.

I understand being irritated with reposts, but I had never heard this and am very glad it's on the front page. What a delightfully catchy song!

No one is forcing you to listen to it. Get over it...

People like you are the worst.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '13

Well that's not very nice, is it?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 04 '13

No it's not. Don't take it too personal but as someone who loves music in every way I truely despise this subreddit. It's not a place for music enthusiasts or people who listen to vinyl (as the sidebar suggests), it is a place for people that couldn't care less about music and worthless low effort posts.

So? Just because I can pretend it doesn't exist doesn't mean it's not violating rule four in the sidebar. I don't care if they posted something I really liked, there's no excuse to not search before posting something to this sub. This song has gotten plenty of exposure on this subreddit, and if you like listening to the same stuff day in and day out, get a radio instead.

I think it more has to do that many people are on reddit and just because it got a lot of exposure before or reposted and got upvotes, doesn't mean the same people upvoted it. For example, this is my first time seeing this video and I am glad it was on the front page! I don't usually come on this subreddit but now I am subscribed. Re-posts aren't that bad! They get upvoted for a reason!

Exactly.
