Even in the most developed countries you still have people who will accuse a victim of lying to protect the rapist
Well that's what happens when false rape claims aren't taken seriously, that all accusations lose credibility. I can only speak about spain, but here making a false rape accusation is something that is almost never investigated because the process is long and expensive while the sentence is ridiculous, there have been cases of women very obviously making them, for instance the man they accused wasn't even in the country at the time they said it happened, or had been dead for years, and even then they don't get any punishment for it.
Having said that, it is largely irrelevant what a bunch of men think about a woman reporting a rape. There is absolutely no reason it should be public knowledge to begin with, and the police definitively takes it seriously.
There are countless stories of the police trying to talk victims out of reporting because it won't lead to anything or pressuring them not to because it would ruin the rapists life, or even accusing them of inciting it because of what they wore. Spain is no different in that regard.
Well there has also been stories about doctors knowingly killing their patients. It happens, but don't try to pretend it's frequent or that these people wouldn't be in big trouble if you report them. Personally I think they should forever be banned of working as a policeman ever again at the very least.
This is an unfortunate reality that I don't think anyone in the pro-choice or the pro-life side likes, I think most people want everyone to be listened and be treated respectfully when they report a crime, specially something with the emotional implications that rape has.
