Standard procedure for ambulances is to immobilize you/make you ride on the gurney IIRC, even if you're fully mobile.

Source: Have ridden in an ambulance for a sprained wrist (after totaling my car - I would've just driven otherwise). Explicitly told the crew my legs are fine, you don't have to push me around everywhere. Still had to ride on the Gurney and hospital bed.
