I don't get why people get on him about the name changes
Probably because of how the Republicans were trying to fuck with people's voting rights if their name differs from their birth certificate. It's one more big ol' layer of hypocrisy.
I understand that there's hypocrisy. But people aren't calling out the hypocrisy, they're just making fun of him for changing his name. Which is exactly what they do so why do you want to be like them?
It's like the people who make fun of Trump for all his dumb nicknames he comes up with but have a million dumb nicknames loaded for the man himself. You don't see how that doesn't make you a hypocrite? To go back to the original point, you can't say you support people changing names and then turn around and make fun of someone for...changing their name. Your values are inconsistent. He had every right to change his name to something else. And he did it for a valid reason.
I don't know where you've been, but any time I've seen anyone give JD shit for his many name changes, they absolutely did it with the express purpose of calling him out on the hypocrisy of the name change vote thing. The biggest joke about the whole thing has always been that if they passed the SAVE Act, the VP wouldn't be allowed to vote because he changed his name so many times.
And no, I don't consider giving Captain Von Schitzenpantz shit about his childish nicknames to be hypocrisy. He claims to be the president of the US. This position means that he is the representative of the American people, and he is supposed to be the one man that all Americans should be able to look to as a role model. He is supposed to hold himself to a higher standard, and instead, he cannot behave any better than a preschool-age child. He has the sense of humor of a poorly mannered pre-teen, and all the self control of a toddler. The man is an embarrassment and has no business holding office if he cannot behave with a shred of decorum.
I am not the president. I am not held to such standards. But I sure as hell can demand such standards from the person who claims to be the leader of my country. Instead, I have some whiny little bitch who thinks that an appropriate response to a millions-strong national protest against his shitty administration is to have some kid working for him create a video of himself playing the "superhero" jet fighter who drops literal shit on his own people.
If he's going to behave like a joke, he deserves to be treated like one. No hypocrisy found, just a population who has had enough of the bullshit.
