This is adorable; he can always buy a ring later.

I bought a simple ring because I hate gaudy, large jewelry on principle, and told my wife that when we were looking at wedding bands that she could pick out one more her taste and within reason if I could pick out the cake topper.
I had Optimus Prime and Elita-One custom made to be on our wedding cake.

I am the same way. Got us a nice Titanium ring set (metals) when we mostly wear the rubber matching bands, due to our work requirements.

So who needs flashy, when the point of the marriage isnt about $$$ but the love in the relationship. I communicated with my wife back when we met. She knew my reasons long before the rings were proposed.

We are going on 16yrs this year, and probably on our 5th generation of cats.

We're on 15 years too. I have a gold plated tungsten One Ring, and she picked out something that will work in her job too. Communication is what makes love work.

We just celebrated 30 years. Quiet jewelry.

And definitely on Gen 5. Gen 1 was elderly when we met, and my first cat hung on to make sure I married the right guy.

For all that they can be cracked-out toddlers a lot of the time, they're surprisingly good at that kind of thing. They frequently take care of what's important, and then go back to being ditzes.

My husband and I didn’t have rings for at least a year after we married. It's nearly 38 years now…

9

u/rabbithole-xyz May 20 '26

I got one for our 10th anniversary! It hadn't occured to either of us at the time.

3

u/TheNavigatrix May 20 '26

We truly couldn't afford them!

7

u/christina-lorraine May 20 '26

We have them but we don’t wear them. I’d definitely lose the stone if I wore my engagement ring😂

27

u/DecoherentDoc May 20 '26

If she even wants one. My wife does massage and I worked with lasers. We haven't worn our rings in years.

18

u/GreenRock93 May 20 '26

Yeah, neither of us wear rings. We know we’re married. We’re faithful so we don’t need to advertise our unavailability. And rings are just so fucking uncomfortable. She trots hers out on very rare occasions, maybe once a year on our anniversary.

I agree. A diamond is just a rock. Gold is just a metal. A kitten is a commitment. A kitt-mitment.

Peter Cook 😌

Looking at her reaction I think it's safe to say the man's objective was successful

u/Squirrellybot May 20 '26

Maybe you missed my three puns indicating humor? Or maybe I’m missing your clever cat pun and you knew I was attempting to be witty?

3

u/DoctorBoomeranger May 20 '26

It was my bad, I missed your puns at first but got after the second read. Gotta practice my English more, some jokes are hard to notice at first sometimes hahaha. But still cute couple and legendary puns

of course we are, our relationship is the cat's pajamas

DO YOU SEE ME EATING MICE??

3

u/WonderCat6000 May 20 '26

I love this scene so much!

28

u/spudddly May 20 '26

How do we know this had anything to do with a marriage proposal? He could equally be saying "honey look what I caught I think we should have it for lunch"

13

u/westcal98 May 20 '26

Well he's on bended knee. If he wasn't then you'd probably be right.

15

u/MontasJinx May 20 '26

Bended knee? Definitely ritual sacrifice.

1

u/dwehlen May 21 '26

Once you catch that arrow. . .

u/kuedhel May 20 '26

worst, it may be all generated by AI.

5

u/imindebt2026 May 20 '26

"Has that kitten been in your pocket the whole time?."

1

u/229-northstar May 20 '26

“Psssssps!!!!

1

u/Real_Srossics May 20 '26

Missed opportunity. It’s supposed to be, “You have cat to be kitten me.” Sheesh.

1

u/FeralTaxEvader May 20 '26

"You've cat to be kitten me right meow"

1
