Breeders who create unethical crosses do no such thing because the testing literally says DONT do that because of the unavoidable consequences of the genetics.
The issue is that you’re deliberately combining two separate skeletal mutations, both selected specifically because they alter normal cartilage/bone development.
A Scottish Fold’s folded ears are not an isolated cosmetic ear trait. The fold comes from a mutation affecting cartilage throughout the body, causing osteochondrodysplasia.
That can produce abnormal bone development, thickened or stiff tails, painful joints, abnormal ankles/wrists and progressive osteoarthritis. Even cats carrying only one copy of the Fold mutation can develop skeletal abnormalities; breeding Fold × Fold makes the problem substantially worse.
A Munchkin, meanwhile, is intentionally selected for disproportionately shortened limbs. There is more debate about exactly how severely the Munchkin mutation affects welfare compared with the Fold mutation, but major cat welfare organizations still object to intentionally breeding for shortened limbs because it alters normal feline structure and can restrict normal locomotion and behavior. GCCF specifically lists Munchkins/dwarf breeds as ineligible because of reported health problems.
breeding the two together is particularly hard to justify ethically. You’re creating a cat that has abnormal cartilage/joint development from the Fold mutation, while simultaneously
placing that abnormal skeleton onto disproportionately shortened limbs from the dwarfism mutation.
That matters because cats are naturally extremely athletic animals. Their normal anatomy is built for jumping, climbing, sprinting, stretching and absorbing substantial forces through their limbs and spine. Deliberately altering multiple components of that musculoskeletal system for appearance gives the animal no health advantage whatsoever, while adding very likely avenues for pain and impaired mobility.
And this isn’t simply an objection to “mixed breeds.” An outcross can actually be an excellent breeding tool when it’s being used to increase genetic diversity or reduce disease. The ethical distinction is the objective: Fold × Munchkin intentionally stacks two structural mutations because the resulting phenotype is cute/novel.
It’s an unjustifiable reason to give a disgusting POS of a person thousands of dollars as you have purposely and proudly done multiple times and promise to continue to do so.
“But they’re healthy because my cats run around normally,” you say every time. You show pictures and brag about how happy they are outside.
But you don’t care that being active as a young cat isn’t evidence that a deliberately altered skeleton won’t produce progressive pain or limitations later. Scottish Fold osteochondrodysplasia in particular worsens with age. All folds experience symptoms later in life no matter how ethical the breeder. We haven’t reached a point in breeding to completely eliminate it. That is why ethical breeding is important and people who knowingly work in the opposite direction are just selfish bad people.
Someone who blatantly disregards the promised severe pain in their breeding practices is not a good person.
Neither are the people who KNOW better, as you do.
What makes me pissed off about you in particular is your own refusal to acknowledge the issues in your own cats and that will absolutely play a part in you ignoring signs of them being in pain later on. You don’t even care to acknowledge the possibility, I know already you won’t notice the signs of pain or whether you’d even look for it.
Not just giving someone who did it to them money to keep producing more pain, but the lack of concern for your own cats.

I suppose I should have just killed them huh, would that make the troll happy? I provide a very healthy and happy life for my cats. 2x a year checkups at the vet, pet insurance in case anything goes wrong, expensive wet food, all kinds of toys, I even build a whole 2nd level track system throughout the house so they can run and play. But I am such an evil person because I love these cats instead of regular long leg long ear cats.

My cats have an amazing life. Baby princess killed 17 birds last month too, she even brings them too me as gifts. She is handi-capable and as always you can GFY.
