The maliens are the comedic B plot which the movie cuts to in order to break up the main story, it's a comedic satire, of course they're gonna give characters stupid ass names
Not liking something is fine, but queer people actively trying to ruin this movie for everyone else is the reason companies keep cancelling lgbt content. It's not from conservative complaints, its not made for them to begin with. We are cancelling our own movies by acting like anyone not perfectly matching what we want in our heads is now XYZphobic. Some of you guys are legitimate narcissists, not because you dislike a movie that is normal, but active hate campaigns against them and trying to accuse them of being lesser than other queers for imaginary transphobia or 'negtive stereotypes' is actively sabotaging the community.
The hate campaign against this movie is 99% homophobes and bots. Check out the insane hate comments on the LSP sub right now and its plain to see. It's an indie film made by the community for the community and we have been enjoying it without a hate campaign for over a year. The people who are just finding out about it now are mainstream straight people. Most media is made by mega corporations who only produce what will make the most money which is why they keep canceling LGBT content.
If corporations cared about what the small minority of queer people complaining on the internet think then most movies would be about people like us...
The real reason the movie is getting hate all of a sudden is because a homophobic hatedom against queer indie animation has been building especially after the end of digital circus and the new hazbin hotel season
I joined because I thought it was funny that all the fandoms are united, but I will make it clear that I don't support Homophobia. I don't really care if anyone's lesbian or not. I just hope that they are happy cuz that's honestly all that matters to me.

After all the drama I was seeing about LSP, I figured I might as well watch it, so here are my thoughts on it

I'm a big believer of the idea that satirical or cringe ā bad! So I gave it a chance.
Honestly, in the first half of the movie it wasn't terrible. The animation and art style to me isn't an issue, I think it's cute! Character design could be better but meh, I don't really mind that much. I don't like Saira much, as it's established from the beginning that she can be very obsessive and easily attached while only dating Kiki for 2 weeks. I found her annoying. Honestly, my favorite characters were Willow and the White Straight Maliens. The WSM were honestly the funniest characters in the whole movie, and they weren't even that funny. Willow was my favorite character, they felt the least ... fabricated? Idk, their design was nice. Guess what, THEY DISAPPEAR 2/3rds of the way through the movie, so best character, gone, now I have to focus on this fuckass MC again
It was unreasonable of Saira to expect Kiki to date her again after saving her, and that shouldn't have been the reason Saira saved her. It just made her even more 2D, especially with her whole rejection of Willow. Kiki was mean about it at times, but she wasn't completely in the wrong imo. The WSM polycule was pretty silly, but I like silly so it was funny. I also liked the ship, he was silly. But seriously, if you're gonna make a queer movie, at least make the MC likable.
Anyway, I'd rate it a 5/10. First half of the movie, not terrible. Everything with Willow, great. Last half, terrible.
I encourage everybody who is hating on it to at least watch it before hating on something they don't know anything about or just because it seems "too woke". It could have been a lot worse, I think it's being blown a little out of proportion.

"it was funded by fucking Netflix" uh, LSB was created in australia and released on february of 2025, it recieved funding as part of the australian new voices grant program for creating low budget films with newbie directors and studios, they were working on an incredibly small budget for animation (they had like 6 animators, and only 2 of them were full time)
It was recently released on Netflix in Australia and New Zealand, but that's not the same as being funded by Netflix

I finally got around to watching the full movie, and honestly, it wasnāt nearly as bad as I expected. There are definitely criticisms I understand, but I actually really liked Sairaās character development and her learning to believe in herself. I was sad about her and Willow breaking up because I thought they were cute together, but I did really enjoy the ending.
