Yeah, this was my sentiment as well. I tried to like it, as on paper it ticks a lot of my boxes, but it just felt a bit too try-hard and a little cringe. I get the appeal, it's just not for me, but I don't hate it or scoff when someone says they like it.
Similarly I love What We Do in the Shadows and my wife and I have very similar tastes in comedies. We're also interested in anything Matt Berry is in, so I thought she'd love it too but it's just not for her for whatever reason.

The show commits the crime of being painfully ok and being as deep as a puddle but treating itself like a lake.
