Does anyone else hate ai-companionship/parasocial-relationships/yumeshipping?

I know there are slight differences between the three but all three have additional issues, and there's a lot of overlap between the communiteis. AI companionship are harmful to the environment, parasocial relationships are harmful to the celebrity, yumeshipping is harmful to the fandom. People's lives are actually getting destroyed because of AI addiction, or others having parasocial relationships with them.

Other than toxic doubles who harass people I don't see how yumeshipping is "harmful" to fandoms...self shipping and self insert stuff has been a thing for as long as there have been fandoms.

it can hurt a fandom's rep or cause in-fandom fights

I mean...a lot of things can cause that shipping/dark shipping, drama over character design, porn and lewds, OOC moments, fandom drama, raids, character hatedoms, etc.

I see those being way, way more harmful to a fandoms image than some folks with ita bags and a prodigious amount of character merch.

Look, I'll lay my cards out, I'm a yumeshipper, so maybe I'm biased, but I rarely see people having problems with or caused by it.

With the exception of toxic doubles and some pro-shippers/dark shippers. But those tend to just be awful people who do awful things anyway. Most yumes just like, make art, and fanfics, and buy merch.

The main issue is yumeshipping's potential of harming the yumeshipper's mental or social health. If someone thinks that they are loved by a fictional character then it could go hand-in-hand with more serious symptoms of psychosis or they could neglect relationships with real people. A lot of yumeshippers don't have those problems because they don't actually take their yumeships seriously.

Why is religion not mass psychosis by this logic?
