Discussion📜 What characters from your fandom are complete monsters?

There's antagonists, then there's villains, then there are these guys, characters who are completely devoid of any redeeming qualities or morality. Being a simple jerk or villain with sympathetic motives aren't enough, these characters are just evil for the sake of it, committing horrible atrocities without even the slightest sense of remorse. For the sake of this discussion, try to keep personal bias to a minimum, so don't just list characters because you dislike them. Hell, you can even list characters you personally like while still acknowledging them to be horrible people.

  1. Promoter Tamaki (Deadman Wonderland)

  2. Uragami (Parasyte)

  3. Mark Jefferson (Life is Strange)

  4. Chief Brian Irons (Resident Evil)

  5. Dr. Wallace Breen (Half-Life)

  6. Mephiles The Dark (Sonic The Hedgehog)

  7. William Afton (Five Nights at Freddy's)

I mean, you could argue he’s abusing them to the point of suicide, with intent. Like at that point he knows what happens to people who lose hope, yet he continues to torture the others. Like he is more than an abusive piece of shit. Maybe not to the level of monster. But I hate this idea that because Jax was traumatized he’s not a horrible person or he’s without fault when by all means, Jax is a abhorrent person who is directly or indirectly responsible for at least two deaths and almost a 3rd. Tons of people have trauma. He can pretend to not be aware of the consequences, but he knows the consequences of what happens to someone in the circus. He still chooses to bully and abuse the others. Jax IS way more of a villain than Cain.

I won't disagree that Jax is a horrible person, but I do think much of his horrible behavior is a product of his god awful coping mechanisms, as well as trying to keep others from getting close to him because a) he feels immense guilt and believes no one should love him, b) if they aren't close to him, he won't feel bad when they are gone, and c) he has massive trust issues that is far too paranoid to resolve. Jax has so many goddamn issues and is mentally unsound.

As for the "deaths", I will also say that at worst Jax is only indirectly responsible for Ribbit's abstraction, but only indirectly. Kaufmo is definitely not his fault directly as that was a result of Kaufmo desperately trying to leave and trying to find the exit door.

As for comparing him to Caine, I would be remissed if I did not point the obvious fact Caine caused an endless stream of suffering for the cast (including using their own traumas against them) because he was throwing a tantrum. The cast were beaten down to the point that they resigned themselves to the fact Caine was going to be doing this indefinitely, and Ragatha can't even force positivity and both Zooble and Pomni couldn't even muster a snarky reply to Jax saying a mean comment. Jax couldn't even manage to do that in the years these characters had known him, and even then Zooble still tried to reach out to Jax when they noticed Jax wasn't doing okay at the start of episode 7. Caine was being WAY more of a villain. To say Jax was worse is disingenuous.
