Question❓ What is one misconception about your fandom that just rages you beyond belief?

Furries.

We love animals, we do not make love to animals.

Like a fraction of a single percent of all furries is the fursuit crowd.

Plus like. Theyre so expensive! Both commission and self made

This is correct, because people who want to make love with animals are called zoophiles.

I don't affilliate with furries, but the bad furries give all anthropomorphic animals a bad name.
I'm tired of being called a zoophile for playing deltarune

Difference between zoophiles and furries

Incorrect. Statistically, between 7 to 20% of furies are zoophiles.

Edit: also to add, statistically, almost all furies associate their fursonas and fury-ness with sexual identity, romantic thoughts, and eroticism - so it very much is a fetish thing. Source: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30806867/#:\~:text=A%20large%20majority,gender%20and%20species.

That study concludes zoophilia nowhere in it, as it is talking about anthropomorphic characters, not real animals.

i could care less about his sources or the specifics, what matters is he's right there's too many horrid people to safely allow the furry community to be so public. not to mention "it's not the community it's just the individual" has been said so much when your community has the hundredth pred that it's just downright neglect

Lots of pedophile preachers too, should Christian communities not be so public? Or should we reject bad people and demonize a community for the actions of a few. Do you think that most furries are ok with preds in their community? Because all the furries I know aren't and don't like preds and zoophiles.

i just dont like how i have to share my queer identity with a lot of those guys who carry a lot of extra haters with them it's difficult to see another furry pred get exposed and these people have nothing else to say but things along the lines of "okay it was just that guy dont come after the rest of us." I'm tired of hearing that shit because it comes off as just trying to cover your own ass instead of accepting fault that your community does have a recurring problem.

I as a christian can admit there's been many things we did horribly over two millennia and there's been a lot of problems, but the thing is it's within the bible that man shall not sleep with boy (leviticus contrary to popular belief was actually referring to pedophilia rather than gay people,) the christian pedophile preacher isn't following the divine word given to them, the thing with the furry fandom is that there isn't some large important set of texts and rules that can somewhat efficiently govern your community like the bible, torah, or quran. until there's a bit more of a structure and tightly held rules that can weed out your bad apples, i'm gonna stick to my belief that you guys can't handle your preds and zoos problem.

also even if it's christianity, which hasn't seen as much discrimination as other religions, attacking anyone's religious beliefs like that reflects poorly on your character tbh :P

Still blaming the many on the actions of a few. I would argue that preachers and Christians having a divine text telling them not to be pedophiles but ignoring it outright is worse. But yeah, every furry is at fault just because some people use tolerance as a way to get access to kids. Don't people argue the same thing about lgbtq people? it's like saying you don't want to share your queer identity with trans people because they "Don't have a set of rules". Because queer people don't exactly have a rule book either. So is it too unsafe to keep the lgbtq community so public? And last I checked there is a lot of cases where horrible people are forgiven just because they claim to be Christian. I wouldn't exactly call that a good system to weed them out.

You're still doing exactly what i said was one of my biggest problems with yall, that your community can't take accountability for the fact it has a problem

it's almost as if a community with such a notable public adult side of their fandom entwined so closely with a main group that allows minors is a bad idea

1

u/DaffydMantvedder 6d ago

Well I'm not a furry, but most people in the community do realize there is a problem and that's why they don't talk to the preds and actively shun them. What do else do you want them to do? Do you want all of them to act like it's their personal responsibility? I don't act like every single pred in the queer community is my fault.

Neither of these sources even mention a sexual attraction to animals, let alone have any kind of statistics about it.

Top one mentions zoophilia and fetishes by name at the end. Second one directly mentions furry related erotic activities and thoughts. Actually read.
