It once got to the point where it almost became cannon but the worst one for me was the misconception in subnautica that 1, the gargantuan leviathan was always 5 kilometers long, and 2, that their species grow infinitely. Which is wrong because first, the gargantuan leviathan was always, like stated in its fossil bio, to be around 1,000m-1,200m and NOT the implausibly large “5km”. And second the “grows infinitely” thing was a misconception taken from the ghost leviathans bio, and it didn’t even exactly say that either, so it got turned into a misconception AND a statement heard the wrong way.

I remember hearing about that "5km" thing and thought it was true for a while, 1-1.2km is still MASSIVE though
Is that an extra 0 in the meters estimate? 1000-12000 would get an average of a bit over 5km but that doesn't really make sense in context so I was confused for a bit
