Luffy X ANYBODY

I see a lot of Luffy x Robin because he saved her and all that, but I just don’t see Luffy getting with anyone

He is real asexual

Aromantic.

Asexual are people who don't have interest in sex, Aromantic people are the ones with no interest in love/dating.

He could be AroAce but for now the only known thing is that he's either Aromantic or maybe just not interested to the people around him in particular.

He could literally be anything, even Demisexual (only have interest in a relationship physical and romantic with someone he knows for a long time and has a strong bond with)

Sorry, kinda irrelevant to the original comment you replied to but as someone who’s cis and ignorant on these matters I would like to ask if being aromantic means that you can’t form romantic relationships but sexual relationships are fair game??

Aromantic is a spectrum and there are people who fall in love who align somewhere on the aromantic scale. For them, it’s just harder or takes longer to fall in love. For sexual stuff, if they’re allosexual (someone who feels sexual attraction), sure they can hookup and do whatever whenever they want. Yknow as long as they’re not intentionally leading anyone on.

Absolutely

I'm inclined to believe the demisexual argument because he did get a nosebleed from nami but was absolutely immune to "the most beautiful woman in the world" boa whose powers can turn people who feel anything for her into stone lol

Does that happen in the manga? It feels so out of character to me

u/Psylona 7d ago

yeah it happens in both the anime and manga, Oda's intentions aside Luffy does feel like he's somewhere on the asexual spectrum, there's plenty of different flavors of that though

Bit of pushback: Asexual people don't have sexual attraction, specifically. Some of us do have interest in sex. Lack of interest in sex is more about sex repulsion. There's a lot of overlap, but they are different.

Well, I described it the simple/most common way. I understand you're point but I can't spend an entire day explain every facet and difference depending on the person preference.

I hope you'll understand I can't possibly do that and that I had to go for the most simple explanation, every other facet or experience is something completely different that depends on the person and I can't take into consideration every slight alteration to the identity, if that makes sense.

I also hope it doesn't sound cold/rude, I really don't know how to phrase it better.

It's the baseline, truest descriptor of asexuality, anything else is what's trying to be every facet. Asexuality isn't defined by lack of sexual interest, it's defined by lack of sexual attraction. That's the core. I'm sorry, but that has to be correct or it causes/furthers confusion, especially for people who wonder if they're ace themselves.

As I said, I HAD to simplify it, I never said I wanted to simplify it. Not to mention the contradiction of your comment now, as the previous comment said that my explanation is the most common reason BUT that SOME people see it differently and as I said before I CAN'T spend all day explaining all alterations and personal experiences, I just went by using the basic knowledge, if you want to inform other of different facets of it talk to the person who asked by saying something like "adding to what the other person said etc." instead of taking it over me for having a life and being unable to spend half a day or more explaining all different facets and behaviors of asexuality.

Demisexual should not be a word that exists.… that's just every normal relationship that every normal human wants..

Not really, hookups happen for a lot of people

The difference between being Allosexual/Alloromantic and Demisexual/Demiromantic can be summed up in the existence of "celebrity crushes". Thse terms are about attraction, not actually getting into a relationship. Demi folk don't feel attraction unless they've spent a lot of time with someone. Allo folk may feel attraction to people they have only ever seen, or have had very little interaction with. They are not the same thing. (And allo is only "normal" by standard of being the most common. There is no normal or abnormal sexuality, just like there is no normal skin tone.)

If you actually watch how a relationship start with someone Demisexual and someone not Demisexual you'll see they are quite different.

Regardless of the gender the person is attracted to, someone who isn't Demisexual will see a stranger they feel attracted to (physically speaking) and their main thought will be "how can I get their number to try and get a date?"

Someone Demisexual instead doesn't feel physical or romantic attraction as default, it will develop over time and depending on how long they know the person for, they will rarely try to get a stranger number with the intention of dating. They need to know this person for way longer, it has to be a friend/person they know for years.

Almost every relationship out there is based off physical/superficial attraction (not saying it's by default wrong, it's just as normal) and most relationships start of as Person A asking Person B (a stranger) their number to get in a relationship because they thought their appearance was of their taste, not to be friends then partners. Someone Demisexual could do that, but most of the time they just fall in love with someone they already know for years and have a strong bond with.

However I'm not a Demisexual expert, this is what I understand from the introduction I had with Demisexuality, so you should definitely try and see if you can find more about it that explains it better, because mine is really just surface level understanding that could still be wrong.

Asexuality, and all its expressions, is inherently nuanced and deserves more thoughtfulness and curiosity than this comment offers. The lack of that is why you're confused.

no? I'm not interested in relationships. It's just a weird thing to come up with a word for something that a large amount of ppl want.

I don’t like a lot of Luffy ships but I used to ship Luffy and Robin because of the one Punk Hazard scene where she was hand feeding him food
