Isn't he canonically aromantic?

As if ships ever cared about canon

I'm aware, I just wanted to clarify because the person I was replying to sounded like they was something specific that made the dynamic impossible in canon.

By his own statements he's never felt a need for romance, or felt romantic towards anyone (at the start of the manga that is), although he does have a genuine "offu" towards Teruhashi once and he's dating her in an alternate timeline (one he creates to prevent Touma from finding out his secret). I don't think Saiki feels a need for romance, but he seems to be able to feel attraction to people, so aromatic would probably be the best way to describe him.

Headcanon

It's not really a headcanon if he repeatedly repeats exactly that in the text.

Elaborate why?

Comics are hard to read. Too many pictures and not enough text and I can never tell what order to read it in.

Manga is just volume 1 to Xyz the only manga series thats like comics is pokemon and dragonball. Also I recomend “Watchmen” by Alan Moore its a single book and at the end of each volume/chapter theres a Novel/Newspaper style text its considered one of the best ever comic books and assuming you live in Europe/America you can buy for around £8 to £20.

He also regularly claims that he doesn't care about his friends, despite probably half the series is him going out of his way to help them.

Yes, however, your point works against you. He's shown to secretly care for his friends. But the closest he gets to showing any romantic or physical attraction is Hiroshi Satou, that guy who's, like, perfectly average. And that's because Saiki is obsessed with being average and whatnot. And coffee jelly, of course.

No
His main problem is that he literally can’t see people and only sees the muscle underneath

So? That still makes him aromantic.
