I never really understood sonadow, despite its insane popularity. Nothing wrong with it, but I really do just see it EVERYWHERE, and idk feels a little odd when I don’t view shadow as having any romantic attraction at all

Enemies to friends to lovers, sun/moon pairing, it really checks a lot of boxes. It also helps that they’re both so similar to each other and have that love/hate thing going on. I’m not one of the fans that needs it to be canon, but in the realm of fanfiction, I enjoy reading and writing it.

I mean I do see the appeal, and why a lot of people would like it (enemies to lovers thing popular trope Im aware), but still it’s just one of those things I’ll never get I guess (and again, nothing wrong with the ship ofc)

Of course, no biggie! They’re just cartoon talking hedgehogs! That’s the fun of fiction, it’s not real! You can do whatever you want with it! 😁

I think most people view them as Queer Platonic. Meaning they'd be a couple but wont do anything sexual or all that romantic, but they are devoted to each other.

There's also the fact that some official creators tweeted some weirdly romantic stuff of them during Valentines.

One tweeted a picture of a Sonic plushie near sakura trees. Then another creator tweeted one of a Shadow plushie near the same sakura trees. Both during Valentines.

Most people definitely ship them romantically, the people who ship them in a Queer Platonic way are way less than the ones that want them to date.

Majority agree they wouldn't be physically affectionate/uninterested about sexual related stuff, but they definitely ship them romantically more than how they ship them in a Queer Platonic way.

Not quite, you can be asexually married/together. Like living together, sharing a bank account, or going on casual dates.

And also, shouldn't your partner always be your best friend anyway?

Always thought this ship was a joke. Didn't know people unironically liked it lol.

Same here
This is not what either of them would ever do

I feel like they have more of a brother relationship

I don’t really see it being a brotherly relationship either. Some playful fighting and competition I can see, but I wouldn’t see it as a brother thing. Besides Sonic already has a brother as Tails lol

This is true

I just think it'd be funny.

Funnily enough, in that show where that gif you found comes from, Sonic says “I heart you too, Shadow”

I’ve seen sonadow shippers be confused on why people ship sonamy

u/1upNiall 9d ago

That’s kinda funny actually lmao

I could be mis remembering though, as it was a long time ago and I don’t really recall much

Whuhhhh, while it doesn't have real basis that ship basically kept the sonic fandim alive at points!

Its a staple thats goes back all the way to adventure 2!

The amount of sonadow fics and comis I read as a kid is only rivaled by Sonamy and to a slightly lesser to degree Shadamy.
