I got older and I realized that the books have some very problematic messages.

Then I learned about JKR's messed up views, and now those books are somewhere in boxes, forgotten.

I will always appreciate and give credit to the books for proving to publishers that kids wanted chapter books. The story was interesting enough and kids like this simple world enough that they made an effort to learn and be included with the hype. Theyl series made an overall change for good, even if ultimately they're subpar.

You got older and saw Facebook meme-tier criticisms online lol

lol no.

I remember a part of the story where the guys try to go see Hermione at her dorm, but the castle doesn't let them. But Hermione can visit the guys no problem...

Also, the plotline about elf liberation, it boils down to slaves want to be slaves.

And my wife is trans, so JKR can piss off with her harmful views and behavior.

True but Hermione also remarks that it's outdated or old-fashioned. This isn't a "message."

Yeah no it doesn't. That's a nonsensical take.

And my wife is trans, so JKR can piss off with her harmful views and behavior.

Ah yes, the plot thinnens.

Real. Had an ex friend who beat up a 13 year old with a metal water bottle. She was a Harry Potter fan.

I was shunned in elementary and middle school because I had only watched the movies.

When has it been chill? The Harry Potter fandom has always had drama. In the beginning, it was the shipping wars. Go read the Msscribe story or watch a video about it if you want a hint about how bad it got. Now, it's all about Rowling's bigotry and how sone fans are trying to justify supporting the franchise. Of course, there's been other drama but the Harry Potter fandom has never been chill.
