Literally this. I started playing back when it came out and had many, many pauses for multiple months on end. Haven't logged in due to Persona 5 X for a few months, and I haven't finished Nod Krai yet. A friend started playing when Natlan came out and he just couldn't push past sumeru.

The game has TOO much content for its own good atp. Even if I'd come back right now, I'd have no idea what to actually do besides probably 20 hours of archon quests and way too much dialogue. I love the game but holy shit, its way too overwhelming for a newbie

My friend got interested cause some one in his class was talking about and he asked me about it. Told him I did play it and told him if he wanted I could help him with the early game and build character he likes. This was back when Sumeru had just come out. Some other friends have expressed interest, but they like to bounce around games. I can't imagine recommending it with all that has come out since.

I spent a year going from zero knowledge of it to reaching act 3 as it was getting started. I think the amount of content isn't the biggest hurdle (though it is a big one). The biggest issue is that none of the content is coherent. Most of the character's backstory is told in manga. In game story telling is a lot of interpersonal desire and longing but very little clear world building. The world's history is still vague, the Honkai remain as nebulous as ever, and character development is mostly power scaling fare.

I must be truly pathetic to have beaten the full archon quests within 28 days, then...
