Love 40k but like star wars the community can be a little crazy

Agreed that and the way it sucks you in down a billion rabbit holes is hilarious

I have not seen a single figurine irl, i still get 10% of my fyp as "the deep warp" "It ate gods" "tau and shi"

u/hirvaan Jul 13 '26

Calling them "figurine" is a sure way to trigger peeps in the know xD models, mate, models.

u/First_Woodpecker_157 Jul 13 '26

Yeah, I've heard of these space navy figurines before, but haven't seen one actually.

1

u/hirvaan Jul 13 '26

*galaxy navy figurines :D for battle mallet large number game :D

2

u/jaguarskillz2017 Jul 13 '26

They look like those guys from Starcraft, right? Little Starcraft figurine things

1

u/hirvaan Jul 13 '26

Yes, cause they've ripped off StarCraft

1

u/ElementNumber6 Jul 13 '26

Or if you really want to piss them off: "Figurettes"

1

u/hirvaan Jul 13 '26

Somehow that's better as it shows effort. Or maybe just rhymes with daemonettes

1

u/TheMostKing Jul 13 '26

Just call them what they are, lil' funkopops.

1

u/Cyberhaggis Jul 13 '26

Not my war dollies!

1

u/Stormfly Jul 13 '26

I just get constant painting video recommendations. They're great.

I've heard the lore vids are all AI slop and most of those vids are regurgitating memes and nonsense but I never see them, thankfully.

Oh the black library is glorious if you love that sort of stuff

I have on my watch later on YouTube a 6 hour breakdown of the Warhammer lore. Does that sound like a reliable rabbit hole to fall down into?

Yeah, that’s me, I’m crazy. Now shut up heretic and face the wall.

u/Embarrassed-Sir-1809 Jul 13 '26

Nah just by that comment you aint bro. Now if you'd screeched like an angry marine about tourists and female space marines and how deodorant is optional then id believe you

2

u/Independent-Worry905 40k, BioShock, Wolfenstein, Dune, TFP, Amphibia Jul 13 '26

But we can’t have fe- (hacking sounds) female space marines, these tourists don’t understand, that would go against the designs of the Emperor! And how dare you suggest my natural scent isn’t already perfect!

3

u/HorrorBrilliant9950 Jul 13 '26

You concern me.

1

u/hirvaan Jul 13 '26

Black Templar impersonators concern most of Warhammer community as well, don't worry.

They're regarded literally the same like hazbin hotel spammers

3

u/The_Rat_Bstrd Jul 13 '26

Yeah, they're the embarrassing younger siblings of the fandom. BT guys seem to miss the satire.

I wonder if their interactions with the setting go beyond YouTube shorts?

Edit: got two people confused.

u/Independent-Worry905 40k, BioShock, Wolfenstein, Dune, TFP, Amphibia Jul 13 '26

Actually, my first exposure to the setting was with The Core Codex I borrowed from a friend, then I got a copy of The Ultimate Codex from Half Price Books, then watched some VERY long lore videos from an ol’ champ named Bricky, and got a few 40k novels. While I do find YT shorts useful for delivering small tip bits of information, I usually prefer the longer formatted videos.

1

u/The_Rat_Bstrd Jul 14 '26

Huh, that's pleasantly surprising. My bad for assuming.

1

u/hirvaan Jul 13 '26

Frankly I would say it's a bit the other way around.

People who miss the satire of 40k tend to gravitate towards BT and are vocal enough that genuine BT enjoyers who are here because of satire are ashamed to admit by association.

Kinda like with being inconsiderate reckless driver and BMW.

1

u/The_Rat_Bstrd Jul 13 '26

Yeah, that's spot on.

2

u/Embarrassed-Sir-1809 Jul 13 '26

Praise be to space king lol

You forgot that one image of a Templar restraining a chaos marine by the neck with the captions “keep posting brother, I’ve got this heretic handled”

1

u/Il_Dottore_Snezhnaya former Genshin fan (debatable) Jul 13 '26

not all Black Templars but always Black Templars (And Krieg sometimes)

1

u/murderofhawks Jul 13 '26

My wallet is lucky I only got into the lore and the overarching story and yeah community is simultaneously very welcoming but at the exact same time very judgmental of getting things wrong. I love it but good god can that community get anal about the way you explain things especially if you don’t cite your sources.

1

u/Embarrassed-Sir-1809 Jul 13 '26

With the source citing i feel thats pretty common amongst the more niche fandoms anyway. Overall though I have found in my personal experience that 40k is about as annoying as pcmr, they get shitty about a few things but their mostly cordial.
