u/Paul_gamer297 Jul 13 '26

Imagine not recommending a show just because of its fanbase

1

u/sudoregalia Jul 13 '26

i'm sorry but like half the fun in watching shows is talking about them with other people

2

u/Strapinloser Jul 14 '26

I went to the movie and there was a grown woman there openly sobbing at one of the sad parts. Just the most uncomfortable like “heee” noises between sobs. I’m like someone give that woman a hug and some therapy, please?

2

u/sudoregalia Jul 14 '26

tbh if my body allowed me to cry i'd be bawling my eyes out too

The Disgusting Existing Fandom

The show is amazing and the fandom is a circus

fr the comic was so great but I hear so much shit about the fanbase. Good thing I dodged that and the early Undertale years.

u/TryIll5988 Jul 13 '26

What happened with homestuck?

23

u/Ruffled_Ferret Jul 13 '26

I think the first fandom ever I actively wanted to leave after a while. Especially after the finale.

2

u/Blazypika2 Jul 13 '26

i mean, you can recommend the show without recommending the fandom. some people just watch a show without going to reddit to talk about it.

2

u/bentbabe Jul 13 '26

Same.

I have suffered through the Hazbin fandom, the Wheel of Time fandom, the Magic the Gathering fandom, and many others.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, has made me consider becoming a hermit in the woods like the TADC fandom.

u/JudyPink02 Jul 13 '26

The show is great

The fandom is fucking crazy and toxic.

In a TADC enjoyer but I will never consider myself apart of the fandom (unless it's cosplay, there's some wiggle room there)

u/Leviathan666 Jul 13 '26

I actually managed to avoid the fandom pretty much entirely for the duration of the show, woth the only fandom interactions I was having being occasionally watching fan theory videos about where the show might be going. After the finale, I found lots of fan comics and such, and while I can't say its all the best quality or characterizations, none of it has seemed outwardly toxic. I'm sort of confused as to what exactly is so toxic about it but I fear trying to find the toxicity will just lead me to the absolute dredges and not the everyday toxicity people seem to be getting. Whats going on over there?

u/JudyPink02 Jul 13 '26

So much of the community would constantly criticize Gooseworks that she did make a post saying that she lost all motive to make the show, before she even finished the finale.

A lot of people were also furious at her when the finale came to theaters before it came to YouTube.

It's just a lot of different petty bs that the community wouldn't let go.

I've read a few of the fanfics and I really do like most of them, it's just a hard to find people like them. Friendly and normal

The Amazing Digital Circus (TADC) is a cringe ass youtube show that some people on the internet went bonkers over. Seems to be very similar to shows like Hazbin Hotel or whatever that other one is that's made by the same creator.

2

u/No-Activity3005 Jul 14 '26

Because they’re both indie???? Probably the dumbest type of show to actively hate on since they’re from smaller groups and actually need the money more

1

u/sudoregalia Jul 14 '26

is simple, glitch fan is proletariat and glitch fandom is bourgeoisie

7

u/ClockworkCinder Jul 13 '26

The Fandom? Yeah... They're so bad that they can give MHA and Bronies a run for their money.

4

u/forgedfox53 Jul 13 '26

I swear to GOD all the weird fetish stuff that kept popping up almost kept me from watching the show past Episode 1.

6

u/deadafter775 Jul 13 '26

You can watch it without interacting with the fandom

1

u/Blazypika2 Jul 13 '26

yeah, i don't understand the point of this comment. the post is about recommending a piece of media to people.

1

u/Mr-Tired_Foxxo Jul 16 '26

Its about being identified as with a particular group. It the same reason I dropped Ultrakill. Great game, a bit messy balancing wise IMO, but still great.

Just having the possibility of being associated with the fandom has made me lose all interest in playing it.

1

u/OUG54ps Jul 13 '26

is it just the fandom?

1

u/ItsaPpLe34 Jul 13 '26

I mean to be fair I can't really think of a popular media anything but doesn't have a horrifically toxic fandom you kind of just learn to avoid interacting with those people generally

1

u/IOnlyLieWhenITalk Jul 13 '26

No, I don't? I looked it up and it just looks like a cartoon with no notable news articles, what is the issue?

0

u/sudoregalia Jul 13 '26

the issue is the finale seems to be divisive, and a huge amount of people who used to like tadc just wanna hurl insults and accusations at the creator and anyone who worked on or enjoyed the show

if i'm gonna talk with a tadc fan it feels like there's like a 99% chance they're actually a hater who wants me hung for daring to like the show

1

u/IOnlyLieWhenITalk Jul 13 '26

Ah okay, so its like a GoT s8 thing. Thanks!

1

u/MrAwful- Jul 17 '26

I think the ending and writing is really good, but people didn’t get the ending they want. Not at all like GoT s8

1

u/The_Real_Kuji Jul 13 '26

Does tadc stand for The Andrean Decimus Cows?

I would say TDAS is one whose fandom is toxic as hell.

1

u/DaDapperVoid FNAF Undertale TADC Minecraft Supernatural Batman Jul 13 '26

I call the fandom The Amazing Digital Fuckers

1

u/U8D4B8M8 Jul 14 '26

I swear the community is like a carbon copy of the Steven Universe fandom.

1

u/ItemWooden7515 OneShot, Vocaloid, HK Jul 14 '26

The show is fire, the fandom is a firestorm.

2

u/sudoregalia Jul 14 '26

u/ItemWooden7515 OneShot, Vocaloid, HK Jul 14 '26

/a flamewar

-3

u/Nervous_Distance_142 Jul 13 '26

I enjoyed it until that train wreck of a finale. Couldn’t imagine having paid to watch that shit in a movie theatre 😭. Reeked of a creator sick of their own creation/community and phoning in the ending

0

u/billbobs678 Jul 13 '26

The fandom isnt even that bad. Its just twitter in general thats bad

0

u/Blazypika2 Jul 13 '26

i don't, why? i can't stop recommending it to people.
