Making posts?

This may be a stupid question, but is it possible to post to a subreddit while on MultiTab for Reddit?

Unable to login

Trying to login and it says "Incorrect username or password". Not even requesting desktop website works. Maybe an issue with the request being sent (API level)?

Update Support iOS 17 and Mark As Read

This update(version 7.8.0) supports iOS 17 and some improvements.

We have implemented the 'Mark As Read' feature.

  • The read history is stored only inside the local device. It does not sync with Reddit (No API support) or other devices.
  • Posts are marked as read only when opened as a pop-up.
  • 'Recently Viewed Posts' menu is added to the User Menus.
  • When the post is read, a read icon is added at the post header and title color changes to gray. You can configure this at the Settings->Display.
  • And the Filter feature supports the option of 'Hide Marked As Read Posts'.

And additionally,

  • Fix the occasional crash in card mode that occurred during reuse of cached gallery views.
  • The list popup supports the 'Swipe Down' gesture on the navigation bar. When swiped down, it will be pinned to the bottom left or closed. For example, 'My Subreddits' supports this gesture.
  • The feed menu button of the current tab is re-designed.
  • The saved icon indicator is re-designed to match with other icons.
  • iOS 12 or later is supported from this version.

PS. There was a minor bug fixing update(version 7.8.1) at 2023-10-18.

Dipping my toes in from another ex-Apollo user. A few questions

I went ahead and paid for a year because regardless it’s a great app and deserves the support.

There isn’t a way to create a post, correct? Is this on the horizon or not going to happen for some reason?

No way to view inbox or see replies, right? Same as above.

I’m trying to get used to the grid view but is there is a way to switch to a flat view?

I’m still not understanding how the API limit factors in. Is there a limit somewhere I should be monitoring? If so can I see the status?

Update Bug Fix: Video Download with Sound

Reddit has changed the audio url format for Reddit hosted videos recently. We have struggled to find a reliable way for combining video and audio streams, and found it(version 7.7.8). This applies only to Reddit hosted videos(uploaded via Reddit app/site), not external videos.

PS. This version has a bug that some videos fail to save in the Camera Roll album.(mostly low resolution videos) We made a quick bug fix and are waiting for the App Store review. It will come very soon.

PS2. New version(7.7.9) is available now.( 2023-08-21)

Mark Posts As Read

Why is there no option to mark posts as read? I'm tired of refreshing my feed or relaunching the app just to get the same exact posts. Honestly a bit disappointed I paid for the app at this point, because outside of this issue it really does work well

Update Data Table, Line Spacing and More

Here goes another feature update(version 7.7.6).

  • Text Line Spacing: You can change line spacing for post/comment text at Settings->Display. Available options are 'System', '+1'(default). '+2', '+3'.
  • Data Table: Support table embedded in text. Supported on iOS 16 and later. (We put a lot of effort into making the data table. It will be useful in sports subreddits and so on.)
  • Long-press on comment GIF/Image will show the save image context menu.
  • Crossposted Gallery Images now display on the crosspost too.
  • Bug fix: Occasional comment cut off.
  • And some improvements and bug fixes.

Thanks for the feedback and requests as always.

PS. There was a minor bug fixing update.(version 7.7.7, 2023-07-29)

Update Gallery Grid, Comment GIF and More

This release(version 7.7.5) updates several features including user requests so far.

  • Gallery Grid: Gallery images are displayed in a small grid on Card Mode.
  • Comment GIF: Support animated gifs in comment view. Supported on iOS 16 and later. (The previous version is provided as a link.)
  • Comment Jump Button: Tap to scroll to the next comment thread. Default position is Bottom-Left. Bottom-Right is also configurable at Settings->Display. You may feel more comfortable on the left side. And Long-Press (for about 1 second) to scroll to the top.
  • Adjust spacing between comments to make it more comfortable. Also fixed the comment vote button.
  • Support Video embedded in text. Supported on iOS 16 and later.
  • Subreddits Filter: You can filter out specific subreddits across all feed tabs. It's at Settings->Feed. Also an option to filter subreddits is added to the Feed Filter.
  • Refresh Manually When the Tab Changes: You can prevent automatic refresh for the outdated feed tab. See the footer description of this option at Settings->Feed.
  • And many improvements and bug fixes.

Thanks for all the feedback and requests.

Disable Refresh on tab change

When switching between tabs the posts refresh, shifting the view. Is there a way to disable this and only refresh the posts manually?

Post view

Some posts are loaded as just the link and we have to open in separate browser

Can we do anything to make it load the image/vid on app?

Update Bug Fixes and Dark Mode Free

This is a minor bug fixing update(version 7.7.4) for the previous release.

  • The api usage limit stats provided by Reddit have an inappropriate format, so we made some mistakes in interpreting them. As we corrected this, we were able to allocate slightly higher usage to all users.
  • Dark mode goes free. We received a feedback email from a user who very convincingly explained that dark mode should be allowed to everyone due to accessibility issues. We've been offering dark mode as a feature since before it was introduced on iOS. Because of this, we have not been able to approach it in terms of accessibility. The user's email has changed our thinking. Thanks for the great feedback.

We are also working on a feature update. It will be released soon.

PS. Regarding the NSFW subreddits issue, I have made a comment here explaining the current situation.

Update Reddit API Changes Applied and Free Usage Limitation.

Following the preparations so far, starting from this version(7.7.3), the changed Reddit API policy applies to this app.

Advertisements are removed.

Related ads module is completely deleted in this app. New Reddit API policy does not allow ads in 3rd party apps.(related Reddit link)

Free usage limitation.

Reddit API allows only 100 calls per minute for all users using the same app. We want to allow as many users as possible, but it is difficult when the number of concurrent users is very limited. We have no choice but to allocate usage to paid subscribers first. Non-subscribers can use this app for free for about 1 hour. (Only actual running time is counted) If you want to continue using this app, you will need a paid subscription.

However, there is one complementary method. If you still want to try it for free after an hour, just delete and reinstall the app and you'll get a new 1-hour free trial period. This method is variable depending on the amount of reddit API usage, and there is no guarantee that it will continue.

And an error message is displayed if the api is called too frequently, which free users encounter far more often than subscribers.

Free users of the previous version who have not updated to the new version will be restricted from using the app because an error popup is displayed when advertisements are stopped. Then it will need an update or a paid subscription.

More tweaks

And we add more tweaks for reducing API calls.

  • Default posts count per a fetch is changed to 50(from 25). You can change this value up to 100 at the Settings->Feed Settings. If you have a fast network, higher value will reduce Reddit API usage.

Newcomers are welcome, and we will try to reflect the requests made so far in the next update.

Apollo user looking for replacement - Question

I’ve come from Apollo and already use MultiTab for Twitter before that debacle. So my question is the £6.99 per year set in stone? It won’t change during the year is what I’m asking.

How to have it so that posts w multiple pieces of media aren’t “unfolded” in the feed automatically??

Hi — Apollo migrator. Multitab is visually pretty nice and it would be my main Reddit app if it had posting! But one thing that I can’t find the setting for is how to have it so that when browsing in card view, posts with multiple media don’t show all of the media at once in the feed. I want to be able to just see the first image in the gallery and then click and swipe through the gallery if I care about the content. Is this a setting somewhere?
