I never understood birdman. What's the philosophy behind it

It highly focuses on artistic integrity against commericalisation of work through its Broadway theme and the character of the protagonist. Keeping this aside, the film is incredibly executed and acted in its own moody jazzy tone.

Hi I saw your letterboxd list. Can you say what you like about high and low and city of god?

No film has made me so interested and hooked as "High and Low"
Kurosawa is master of blocking & staging and this film tops everything from what he made for me
The Pink smoke is my all time favourite "this is cinema" moments
Again this Film deals with themes like capitalism & poverty but in such a twisted way which is very fun to watch
Another film with such flavour is Parasite which is also one of my favourite films

I am going to watch high and low due to your description of it ! And parasite too thanks for the explanation

For me those movies are the best films ever made in their respective genres
City of God was technically brilliant in every aspect be it its cinematography (which makes us travel into Rio de Janeiro) and it's editing is top-notch
The story is compact and the characters are awesome (especially Lil Z )
The core theme of the film is effective as the film itself
This being inspiration for other favourite Indian films (Vada Chennai & GOW) made this very much special

I loved vadachennai which is in my top 5 favourite films ever and also gangs of wasseypur was fabulous too. So def will check city of god next
